Asset Allocation for 2002: Navigating the Risks & Charting the Opportunities held 9 days after the terrorist attacks, exposed the harsh reality of a global recession and an impending world war. As you would imagine, the outlook was sobering. Tough times are ahead. But optimism emerged in unusual places. Doug Cliggot, the strategist who predicted the tech wreck with solid empiricals, offered further evidence of bigger structural weaknesses. Don Coxe, an eloquent investment philosopher, described the war on our culture and possible outcomes. Spencer Lampert, a savvy hedge fund manager, was guardedly optimistic. Todd Petzel, a seasoned asset allocator, articulated the opportunity for those with a long horizon. This session was dedicated to our colleagues at Cantor Fitzgerald who will never join us again.
