    Great video, I was watching the auction every night and was really surprised at some of the price points for Silver and Bronze. I normally win quite a bit with Comic Connect but only snagged two key books, Fear 11 and Tales to Astonish 50. Some of the pricing, especially on the Golden Bobby Blue stuff felt suspicious to me but who knows. At times I suspect bidding up a book at a big auction like this could be a way of artificially inflating desirablity but not sure. Some of the numbers were a bit perplexing though!

      I agree it's easy to feel suspicious when you look at some of those prices. As of now, those prices still aren't showing up in GPA. We'll see if the buyers actually pay.

    The price shown does not include the 15% Buyer's Premium.
    It must be taken into consideration.
    15% is not a small fraction.

      The prices I show actually already include the buyer's premium.

    The chamber of chills was bid on by one of the owners of the book. He would gain 1/2 the sale price of the book, somewhere around $15000, so he bought it at half price, something others didn't have available. Should it be included in the GPA pricing? IDK.

      Thanks for the comment. Trying to understand what you're saying. Do you mind clarifying? Appreciate it.

      @@rhmidwestcomics the $31,000 price will go to GPA, right? The person who won the book is 1 of the two sellers of the book. So, of the $31,000 that he paid for the book, minus the 15% to comic connect, he gets $15,000 back to him. So , he essentially paid $15,000

    • @rhmidwestcomics
      @rhmidwestcomics  ปีที่แล้ว

      @Thegravy251 I think I understand now. Yes, if one of the owners was the winning bidder, he essentially paid half of the final price. But we don't know how much he paid to buy the book initially either. I guess I'm wondering why wouldn't he just keep the book and pay the other owner to buy him out? Why give comic connect the 15%?

    • @Thegravy251
      @Thegravy251 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rhmidwestcomics it was the agreement between the two guys, if there was a book they wanted, they'd have to bid on it like everyone else, that way the other guy would get his full cut. But, I guess the winner still had to bid against other people that were willing to drive the price that high. But, what's the true final buying price for the book as far as GPA, and other people who use the resource and base buying and selling prices on that, are concerned? There had to be some level of other people willing to pay close to that amount, so the price is still a ballpark figure, not one set in stone.

    Great coverage. 😊. I bid on a lot of those Bobby blue but man they went for way more than I thought

    I have a question.
    Should I buy a Batman #7 4.0...or wait for a higher grade?
    Not to flip but as a long-term investment.

    • @rhmidwestcomics
      @rhmidwestcomics  ปีที่แล้ว

      Tough question to answer. I don't think Batman 7 is going to rise or drop in price very much in the near future. If you really want a 4.0, buy it. If you prefer a higher grade, I think you wait until you have the cash...and then go for it. Appreciate the comment.

    I thought gpa doesn’t include comic connect ?

      Yes, GPA always includes Comic Connect sales. They take longer to update for some reason, but they are included.

    The Mister Mystery 6 8.0 has appreciated $1575.50 every year, for the last 20 years

    • @rhmidwestcomics
      @rhmidwestcomics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The last 8.0 sale was back in 2003. And I think it's tied for the highest grade. Hard to say what a reasonable price would be, but 1500 increase each year doesn't seem too crazy.

      @User8vfjhejf ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rhmidwestcomics yeah, that's just the current average from the 2003 price to the current recent sale, it averaged out to be $1575 a year

    Someone sold a 5.5 crime 22 for 11999 on ebay that guy got killed on the 6.5 rather bought the 5.5

    Did you really just say your confused as to why crime suspense stories commanded such a premium? You're kidding right? The book that basically ended the golden age

    • @rhmidwestcomics
      @rhmidwestcomics  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm aware of the desirability of the book. The question I raised was why a 6.5 sold for 24K when a 5.5 just sold for 11K. Most people are scratching their heads over that.

    I don't get into conspiracy theories like some of your commenters. Not saying it's not possible, but it's a lot tougher to inflate prices on CC, Heritage or Clink based off their layout. Compared to Ebay where it's relatively easy to. That aside, no I don't think golden age has declined on the whole. Some has, but predominantly strong sales. Ultimately everything has corrected since the heart of the pandemic. Except maybe pre-code horror. That's just stupid hot.

    • @rhmidwestcomics
      @rhmidwestcomics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it's very possible the CSS22 just had a couple buyers that were in a bidding war, but hard to explain that price. In the end, I agree that price manipulation probably isn't as rampant as some people believe, but probably happens more than some naysayers think. We may never know for sure. Really appreciate your comment.

    • @Comicbookyoutubersrock
      @Comicbookyoutubersrock ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rhmidwestcomics Yeah I'm just not as sold into those conspiracies as many people seem to be. The main auction houses make it difficult to do it. And if you want to go further and imply the auction houses do it directly, well that's an entirely different beast. Anyway, it is what it is lol. Some great results from Bobby Blue books, that's for sure.
