This is amazing. Reminds me of a book I read titled "Our History is Still Being Written: The Story of Three Chinese-Cuban Generals in the Cuban Revolution."

Joseph is a natural-born storyteller. It was quite a feat to pull this story together. It's clearly the tip of the iceberg, with hundreds of hours of footage and conversations with people on the ground, in relationships. It's a very relational film. I saw it in Hawaii at an event put on by NexGen at the Christ United Methodist Church. The audience was mostly Korean-American, and many people cried as they watched it. Great job, Joseph! Also, Jennifer Clyde does a terrific job interviewing him her. Thanks for doing this, Arirang!

Kudos to Joseph, but the ultimate irony is that Jeronimo Lim Kim probably perceived and only knew himself to be a North Korean person when he was alive, yet Joseph Juhn is portraying him as Korean, and 'South' is fully implied. A Marxist-Leninist can never be a South Korean person. In Cuba, Jeronimo Lim Kim probably was known only as a Chino, a pejorative term applied to all Asians. I guess the ultimate message from Joseph Juhn is that all identities are socially-constructed and never biologically determined. This is why I want to become a pre-op, transgender female, Muslim, half-Jewish, Swiss-Italian Korean person who only eats Hindu food and dresses in dhoti.
