    looking back into black history, I am horribly disgusted by how we treated them, i am glad that all changes thanks to people such as Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King jr, Rosa Parks, and Viola Desmond. if they did nothing, who knows what today would be like. Black Lives Matter!

    This is excellent. In your opinion, what are the top 3 things Canadian teachers can do to honour black history?

      Incorporate contributions of all people in your content. Speak to Black and Indigenous history throughout the year. Clarify the reality that history was written by those who had the pen and is not necessarily accurate. Teach your students to go beyond the textbooks deepen their understanding and fill in the gaping holes.

    Most black people in Canada come from immigrant backgrounds they're not FBA/ black American.

    • @thewordsmith5440
      @thewordsmith5440 ปีที่แล้ว

      The earlier black community in Canada came from the united states so it's hard to ignore that if you're celebrating "history". The first black doctor in canada was multi gen mixed with parents from the U.S. Viola Desmond ancestors came from the United States.

      If we were all equal why do whites, Indians and Asians and latinos all have a slur for black people?

    • @careydepass130

      Yes. Perhaps if you and your cultural compatriots did the same thing, black people wouldn't have to fight for recognition.
