If you think about it, plastic bottles will do better than glass bottles to preserve a message within.
Plastic deteriorates with time and falls apart into smaller pieces and you could do nothing about it. But you would need a substantial force to shatter glass. If no one dropped a stone on a glass bottle somewhere at a beach it would literaly last forever. Glass and ceramics are the most lasting substances/constructs humanity can create because they don't just fall apart even after milennia.
