    Very few people actually do tessellation tutorials. I think they are harder to record than other models. So thanks for the good work

      Yes, they definitely include a different process. So I'm glad to hear you appreciate the work I put into them.

    This takes me back to the nightmare that was collapsing Jeremy Shafer's flasher lol

      I want to try his flasher but I don't have the paper for it and im very inexperienced in the flasher part of Origami.

    I am in awe of your skills. I tried this first with regular printer paper then with the colored printer paper which is a heavier weight and was much easier to collapse so to do this with kami is very impressive on your part. I'd like to repay your tip on creasing with a tool with my discovery that the dense foam sheets found in the children's craft section in stores substitute quite well for a cutting sheet for this model and are much cheaper. Thanks for another great tutorial!

    • @Happyfolding
      @Happyfolding  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, heavier paper is easier to collapse. But I try to show that standard paper works, too, it's just a bit trickier. Patience is key. :)

    Do you think I could fold a mini version of this model with a 16x16 grid instead of 32x32, because I only have 6 inch kami? It would be called "teenhood" and with an 8x8 (if possible) would be childhood lol

    • @Happyfolding
      @Happyfolding  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The book actually includes different tessellations in the "Hood Family": Childhood, Childhood Evolved, Growing Up and finally Adulthood. The 8x8 has just one zig-zag. On a 16-division grid, you could have 3 zig-zags on each side. So do give it a try!

    Five minutes in I didn’t have the tool so I used the part of a nail clipper that is round and pushes your cuticles back. It worked really well.

    Well, another tessellation! I'll leave it pending for later, I've spent the holidays folding tessellations of Lydia Diard, but this model of the video is very interesting, I think the tessellation is evolving beyond the flat folds and angles very marked, it is very interesting to see designs like those of Ilan Garibi and Hagay Golan. Thank you for sharing and expanding the horizons of origami

    DiD you used rare brown elephant hide 30x30 cm?

    • @Happyfolding
      @Happyfolding  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did use some rare brown Elephant Hide, but cut to 23 cm x 23 cm. :)
      A bunch of years back I bought a stack of Elephant Hide on ebay. Someone found it in their father's attic while clearing out the house. I paid quite a sum, but in the end it was worth it for me. I only use those sheets for special projects. This one came from that now quite small stack.

    Superspannendes Thema! Es wäre leichter für mich, wenn insbesondere die schrägen Falten im Video mit Farbe hervorgehoben wären. Ich sitze jetzt schon eine Weile hier und versuche nachzuzählen, ob ich es richtig mache...

    If you use elephant hide, would you spray on more water? If so, how much more?

    • @Happyfolding
      @Happyfolding  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, not really. If I do apply more water, no more than double.

    hi I am wondering if this could be suitable for a beginner. I have done the basic square grid but this would be me first tessellation. I am willing to try it a few times to get it right (it's a gift for a friend) -- do you think it's manageable for a beginner?

    • @Happyfolding
      @Happyfolding  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a more challenging model. I'd recommend you first try some other 3D tessellations, maybe something like th-cam.com/video/9lPoHxTVrkE/w-d-xo.html

  • @eurikwonobi1130

    I like to do these since I can hang them on the wall and they are a lot harder than the ones im doing, im thinking of making a big tessellation rectangle made up of different models and hang it on the wall with a picture frame.

    • @Happyfolding
      @Happyfolding  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure, but there's a chapter in the book on the "Hood Family", which includes the tessellations "Childhood", "Childhood Evolved", "Growing Up", and "Adulthood".
