Great vid! Praying that the 76911 James Bond doesn't get extended in to 2024 but the sales numbers on Amazon UK are pretty amazing. There's also the possibility of more James Bond actors/cars being released in the future which would make this one even more desirable.
Solid points! I will not be surprised one bit if the 76911 is held back until December 2024. LEGO does seem as a company to be heading toward more franchised sets so I agree, the likelihood of more 007 does seem high.
Great picks! You've bought the Skylines about 12-18 months early though. It's a great car but not retiring for at least another year. The Challengers should do well though!
Got the Lambo countach today and will probably get the aston martin db5 next week. This is the first investment in my life. If it doesnt work out, I will have them on the shelf :)
Hello DG Bricks! I've recently been getting into Lego investing, so I've been watching many of your videos recently, and I want to thank you for them! However, I want to get into the action a bit, so I want to ask what the best set(s) you would recommend picking up with around 150 USD. I also want to ask if you usually buy when there are promos from Lego, from retailers with sales, or a mix. Once again, thank you!
Oh man, what a softball question. It depends on the time of year. The last 2-3 months have had some OK Lego promos. I do most of my purchasing later in the year once retailer hold better sales. I don't give investment advice, but if you're just starting out you might want to begin buying sets that have already retired to get started on growing your nest egg a bit sooner. You can find some retired speed champs and star wars sets from retailers like Walmart and B&N in the United States that will begin growing within weeks or months, and you won't have to wait until the EoY for your investments to begin appreciating. Congrats and welcome to the hobby!
@@DGBricksYT Alright thank you! Just an extra question, is it worth picking up the Star Wars Dagobah Jedi Training Diorama for 60? I've seen it on sale constantly recently.
@@AvgeekA380 If I may give my opinion: the best set at around 150 USD (although with a higher RRP, a set that can be bought on a discount at that price) would have to be the Medieval Blacksmith. Keep in mind that there is no best set for investing, the best set can become the worst set, depending on some factors, like too many investors buying it, having an extended shelf life, Lego doing a remake soon after the set retired, factors that disturb the economy, so and and so forth. But if I had to pick one, this would be the best bet. The Medieval Blacksmith and Medieval Castle sets are selling like crazy. Lego has managed to rekindle the interest for Castle sets. This is one of the best sets Lego has ever made, in my opinion. The build is excellent, the building experience is awesome, the interiors are so detailed and in place, the minifigures are very good, the box art is superb. Another good set at 120 dollars RRP would be the 12 Grimmauld Place. Keep in mind that these sets are exclusive to certain retailers in most countries, so that's a big plus. In conclusion, if you are new to this, take the next 6 months to research on how scarcity and exclusivity impacts the results of a set, decide on what markets (countries) you want to sell those sets, and check how those markets work, decide on what platforms you want to sell them on, and how those platforms function, monitor the prices of the sets to have on your consideration list, and find the best price you can possibly but them at, check the reviews and receptions that sets get from the buyers, find out how many people invest in a set or at least if there are factors that prevent them from investing. Decide what your targeted ROI would be. If you plan on buying a set that is based on a licensed IP, consume all the materials the sets are based on, like movies, games, comic books. Always check rumors regarding future Lego sets, and if there is any remake or similar set rumored to be released, to the set you want to invest in, just dump it. There are so many sets to choose from, it's not worth the risk. There are so many things to do, but don't jump in not knowing what you are doing. Take your time and research, and don't take my word for the two sets i've mentioned, just research on them and decide if they are suitable in your context. Best of luck!
I also watched some related videos, and made list of the sets that youtubers recommended to buy. First place took Star Wars sets. And one of the new sets (some long spaceship) already has been sold out, just in the first day!
Im so dissapointed that the upcoming wave just sucks. The mustang is cool but everything else and the rumored mclaren f1 doesnt give me high hopes for 2025. I just hope the movie cars in 2024 are good
I appreciate your analysis, but I think that you are putting too much emphasis on customers that are buying sets that mirror their real-life automobiles. Surely most sales are just fans of a particular brand, or those wishing to enact some wish-fulfilment. I just bought the new Porsche and McLaren sets, and it sure as hell wasn't because I own Porsches or McLarens!
Hah! I certainly see what you're saying. The SC Buggati Chiron has obviously gone nuts. But then so has the Mustang GT, of which ~100k a year are actually made. So it's obviously not THE determining factor. Maybe I focused too much on that in this video. Thanks for the thoughtful comment
Great video, thank you. I am exactly looking for some small sort of investment.... But what I do not understand, what does it mean "invest in sets"? Should i buy some stocks related to these sets, or actually buying out these Legos? And what I will buy these building kits, where from the investment will come - the Lego itself will buy out them from me?
You are buying, storing and then selling and shipping these sets (as physical copies). That’s investing in Lego sets and the individual set numbers explored in the video.
@@danielnash3345 Oh, thank you for explain. These are key words. Hello, DG Bricks! First time on your channel, and I cannot say if I agree with your list, since I don't know anything about Speed Champions, I am just trying to find out if Speed Champions is a good theme to invest in, I've been neglecting it for some time, and I found your video. What I can say is that I am very impressed with your analysis. It's clear that you know what you are talking about, and that you do your homework very well. These days TH-cam is full of experts that don't understand Lego investing, they just want to market themselves or/and make money from views, a lot of them just use some tools that are irrelevant in my opinion, and say things like: a set with the same number of pieces sold well in the 1970s, so this set will sell well in 2024. And they don't even know how to use the tools that they present, and just cause people to loose a lot of many, like the case with the AT-ST Raider. They don't understand anything about the economical context, scarcity, prospecting new subthemes, theme/subtheme/model fatigue, limited themes, about how recurrent and remake sets work, they never try to understand what goes on in a fan's or buyer's mind. I'm glad you are not one of those guys. I'm very impressed and looking forward to seeing your other videos. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the thoughtful comment. Yes, funny enough this video has some of the best information I've ever given and yet 2-3k people will see it as opposed to 50k people interested in Lego Star Wars videos :) I have been following Speed champions since 2020, my first buys of the Audi, F8, & GTR in January of 2022 were some of the best ROIs percentagewise I've had to this date. I can tell from your comment that you understand supply and demand. That's all LEGO investing boils down to. Welcome to the channel and enjoy!
@@DGBricksYT I'm sure those sets were very good investments, as it should be the case with the Indiana Jones or the Star Wars dioramas. We only got 3 Indiana Jones sets, we may get a 4th, and for the dioramas, Lego will do like 3 sets per year, and will probably discontinue the subtheme in maximum 3-4 years, since there are only a few scenes that you can depict in these sets. But I don't know about the Speed Champions theme. If Lego stars doing 10 to 15 sets per year, I guess this will have huge diminishing returns on the newer sets. We can already see DM on the Star Wars Helmets subtheme.
@@Iceblast19 I personally do not care for the Diorama sets as much. It's hard to justify a $70-100 USD price tag for a bunch of small 1x1 tiles and small pieces.
