And, along with that, his "Human" - would just keep coming back, even after 1000+ resets, dying in each one - for hundreds of times. This "human" can just continue with this endless cycle. Rewrite it, and, start it all again. Or - leave it, for good. Another thing, canon Murder - would NEVER believe, that his "human" - gave up... So, endless waiting, living in some kind of paranoia. Even if Nightmare, or, Core Frisk were to "rescue" him - he would reject their offer. Though, Nightmare can forcefully take away Murder/Dust. About the whole situation, where it was mentioned "Swap - is same, as Papyrus". That could be considered as a "replacement" of Papyrus, no? And Murder is not one, who would like to replace anything. He could easily live in the Undertale timeline. Or, any other AU. But, no. He "needs" to go back, back to his home. And the whole situation with Phantom, that thing. He knows, that its not real. That's all.
