When I called Chulhun Park to ask him about Valkyrie he was delighted to fill me in, and actually supplied me with images of the yacht that have never been released to the public before.
This is without a doubt a hugely exciting project, based on an existing hull design, and available for sale. The designers hope is that we all may be able to go on board and enjoy her one day!

I worked for Palmer Johnson in the late 90s. The company was founded in Sturgeon Bay WI. At that time they had built one of the largest aluminum yachts in the world. Palmers was a great place to work up until it was sold out. Incredibly skilled individuals. I learned a lot of skills from many people in that yard. Good times.
These designs are a clear statement that a new generation of superyachts is emerging. Really impressive, really 21st century. I hope a lot of people get to enjoy them 'cause that's a lot of money and resources ... A very talented designer, no doubt. I would love to see all the interior details. 👍
I agree. This yacht is a floating piece of artwork, but has little appeal to me as a yacht that I would dream of owning.
So far, Nirvahna and Solange are two yachts that I find artistic, attractive, and functional.
In my yacht owning dreams I need to have a feeling of being at home, a yacht that I could either live on full time or at least very extended stays on board.
This yacht is more likely to be owned by Royal Caribbean than a billionaire.

I thought that everyone, over 14, understood sarcasm. I thought what and how you presented that video, was brilliant. I followed this designer's art and i believe Chulhun Park is breaking the monotony that yachts are known for, SINOT aside -he is the designer to watch out for-i hope his democratic wish will see the light of day-by the way only it's breadth makes it a yacht other than it is a mini cruise ship and a futuristic one at that.

So it's a fancypants cruise ship. [Gets on soap box.] Look, the very idea of a "world's biggest yacht" is inherently flawed. It's like calling a Greyhound Bus full of tourists "the world's largest limousine." A yacht is a personal boat, meaning for the owner and their family and personal guests to use & operate, with any crew known or hired personally by the owner as helpers as a limited extension of that. Once you start selling tickets at the gate, it's a tour boat run by company employees.
You could buy "Symphony of the Seas" with 228k tons displacement and 1188 feet long, and own it outright singlehanded, but that doesn't make it a yacht. It's still a cruise ship, a tour ship, a commercial passenger liner. A lot of people could afford to buy an old cruise ship (numerous 200+ passenger ships can be had for under $10 million) and run around nearly alone inside it like a ghost vessel, but that doesn't make it a yacht; because it's full of way more facilities than any personal family-group is going to have use for.
So when does a vessel stop being a yacht and start being a tour/cruise ship? First, when you sell a ticket. Second, when it sells services or goods to the guests. Third, when there are people working or staying on board that your family doesn't already know, or invite personally. Fourth, when you aren't qualified to command and operate your own boat. All of those violate the notion of "personal" craft, and that may mean even the owner is just another tourist along for the ride.
So yachting, and being a real yachtsman, isn't just a check you write. It's relationships and qualifications. Once you substitute in money for personal involvement, ability, and intimacy, you aren't one. What you have become is... a passenger.
Okay, "old school sailor" rant over. I'll get off the soap box... for now.
Loved the soap box rant. No worries about the Valkyrie... It's being built for a private couple and never available for charter or entertaining. Scaled down slightly from 229M to 152.5M.
I so want to see Valkyrie come to life, especially with her design.

Hi David. Valkyrie is an extraordinary yacht . . . Liner would be more appropriate. Evolution of yachts are progressively becoming more complex and space age looking. I for 1 enjoy the unusual such as the Hanstaiger , Ragnar and Valkyrie. Great video as always.

Love the Aquaholic mug. Nicks got a great channel. Being a disabled British Army Veteran im laid up 99.9% of the time. I got into Walkthroughs cause I served at sea on Army Landing Craft, and in Soton Docks, and short time on Tid Tugs and Dutch barges. I miss being at sea. Born and bred in Southampton, where the sea is very much in my blood.

Unrelated, but I don't know where to put this comment. I love the old NS Savannah. It has really gorgeous lines and, although in theory a merchant ship, it was also a passenger ship. And it was nuclear-powered. I've always wondered, legally, could some own a nuclear-powered yacht ? There are various civilian nuclear vessels already, so it's clearly not a "military only" technology. Do you know of any billionaire out there who's ever mentioned an interest in nuclear propulsion ?
