The fact that the Red Wedding wasn't spoiled for you is amazing. The whole thing in the beginning with the chicken and salt was a custom called "Guest Right." Rob and Cat didn't feel safe till that was demonstrated. To violate Guest Right is one of the biggest taboos in Westeros society. You just don't do it.
Cody kept mentioning that the episode 9's of the series are notoriously bad/fucked up. which made me skeptical whether or not he knew/heard of what would happen here specifically, being that he came to that conclusion after only one season. hell, he said it last episode just before this one 3x8
His bird wasnt "mad", he was a warg so he warged into the bird when he died. Also the reason Cat got suspicious was because the band started playing "Rains of Castemere (The Lannister song)
And is the worst song to hear if you are a enemy, because the song just reminder how the Lannister annihilated a enemy house. When a house start to disobey the lannister they sent only a bard to play this song to the lord.
I remember around the time Robb and his wife started showing interest in each other, Cody was like, "Oh that's not a good idea he's supposed to marry that one guy's daughter." and Bridgette was like, "Ah, who cares? Welcome to the episode that broke everyone. My dad refused to watch it for 3 weeks cause Robb was probably his favorite character in the entire show never had seen him react to a tv show like this episode before.

Great episode and probably many viewers have been waiting for this moment, now a few words from me: Remember how in the previous episode Cersei intimidated Margery by telling her the story of House Rain of Castamere, a house that once rebelled against the Lannisters so Tywin murdered them all. After these events, the song "Rains of Castamere" was created, praising the power of the Lannisters and Tywin and we heard this song, for example, during the Battle of the Blackwater when Bronn sang it with the Lannister soldiers and also in this episode when the door closed, the orchestra started playing "Rains of Castamere" as symbolism that the Lannisters are responsible. You also remember a few episodes earlier when Cersei was talking to Tywin at the desk, when Tywin said he didn't trust her because she wasn't as smart as she thought and because she couldn't control Joffrey. Note that when Cersei talks to Tywin, she asks him about Jaime and if he is doing anything to free him, to which Tywin replies that since he started the war for Tyrion, he will do anything for Jaime. Note that the camera is very focused on Tywin's hands at this point, you can see him writing letters - YES it's probably letters to the Freys and Boltons informing them of their future alliance with the Lannisters in case of the Stark betrayal and that's how Red Weeding came about. Both Houses Frey and House Bolton had a hard time with the Starks. Lord Walder Frey was furious that Robb did not keep his oath and did not marry his daughter and the Boltons, although they were formally Stark bannermen, have always been their historical rivals in the North and after the Starks, the Boltons are probably the greatest house in the North (perhaps on par with House Manderly who are the richest in the North). So this was an opportunity for Lord Roose Bolton to get rid of the Starks and take their place. A dishonorable move but it's Robb's own fault because he didn't keep his word!
You can even go back to the last council meeting Varis mentions that Rob and his men went to his grandfather's funeral and left Roose Bolton at Harenhall..... making Bolton lord of harenhall, giving Tywin the opportunity to send a raven
Actually I think the Lannisters rebelled against the Rains, overthrew them and slaughterd them all. That's why the Lannisters keep (home) is called Casterly Rock. I could be wrong, but I'd have to go back to the books to verify.
@@no5thdown No, House Rain and other House Tarbeck were Lannister bannermans but due to the ineptitude of Lord Tytos Lannister (Tywin's father) these Houses indulged in more and more towards the Lannisters, e.g. borrowed money from them which they did not return etc etc so that the status of the Lannisters began to decline rapidly and only when after the death of Tytos, Tywin took over the power, he dealt with the rebellious standard-bearers by raiding their castles and killing all the representatives of the rebellious families. He made them, as it were, an example so that no one would even try to rebel against the Lannisters. Casterly Rock was once the home of House Casterly, which was once the most important house of the Westerlands, but this house died out long before the action of the series in the Age of Heroes and their place was then taken by the Lannisters thanks to Lann the Clever who tricked the male representatives of House Casterly and took their seat Casterly Rock which has since become the seat of House Lannister, and Lann himself is considered the founder of House Lannister

Imagine us book readers. Reading each line of this happening was gut wrenching. I had to take several breaks between paragraphs because I couldn't see with all the tears. It is so much harder in the book because you get the perspective of many of the characters so you feel much more attached to them.

If I’m not mistaken it was this episode that began the rise of reaction channels. Apparently people that had read the books knew what was going to happen so they recorded the people they were watching this episode with. I love that we have so many great channels like y’all now! When this episode first aired it was so controversial that it made the national news the next day and every daytime talk show was talking about this episode. It was definitely a shift in worldwide pop culture. Y’alls reactions did not disappoint! Please keep going with the show.
"Can we have a wedding like this, the next time we get married?" LOL, are you sure? Here's the thing about The Rains of Castamere (the song that started playing doing the carnage). That's a Lannister song, meaning that Tywin orchestrated the whole thing (now you know who he was writing letters to for the entire season.) The thing about Tywin is that his dad was an idiot who squandered the Lannister riches and name. So, when Tywin became top Lannister, he was determined to change all that. He was ruthless. Guy slaughtered a whole family (The Reynes of Castamere) just to show he meant business. He became so infamous, that this one time, some lord started talking s**t about him again, so Tywin sent just one guy. One envoy. Guy went to said lord and he simply played The Rains of Castamere song. Said Lord got the message and shut down very quickly.
Tywin actually wasn't the top Lannister yet, his dad was still alive and the Head but tywin didn't even care to tell or consult his dad Tytos about what he was gonna do and Just Went Through his plan with absolute ruthlessness.
"Do you wanna say anything?" "NO I'M MAD" Same, Bridgette. Same. There are other episodes that are huge surprises, but this one was a real kick in the nuts.
remember last episode when cersei and margaery were talking about house Reyne of castamere that was destroyed by tywin? the song the rains of castamere which is the title and what was played after the doors closed is about that story, sometimes when tywin sends people a message he also sends a singer to sing this song to intimidate them. thats why catelyn reacted like that when she heard it
I remember when I kept telling you to put Frey and Bolton on your map... Btw, Bolton's house symbol is the flayed man, aka the thing you called Theon when you saw it in Rob's map.
The guy closing and locking the doors as they started to play the Lannister's 'Rains of Castamere' was a dead giveaway.. Still, NO ONE* could've expected such an outcome, I think we all needed healing after this episode.
And you know we're all sadistic F's because we'll all watch reactions leading up to it all eating our popcorn and smiling waiting for the moment y'all see this lol xD
When Gilly told Sam he was like a wizard for knowing so many things from books, that cute smile he had, remember when Jon was placed in the stewarts and was upset? Sam had told Jon how he'd always wanted to be a wizard. Such a cute callback.

I remember the silence after the episode ended with me staring at the credits with tears falling down my face lmao I literally had NO idea smh. Also, Cat died thinking all her children were done for.😢 The Lannisters send their regards.
18:10 - "Can we have a wedding like THIS?" Oy...... Seriously, though...you think David Bradley, the actor who plays Walder Frey, gets invited to many weddings these days? I had to watch the wedding part twice, because your guys' reactions are priceless. So sorry that you had to go through that, but now you're traumatized with the rest of us. LOL!
And we all have been waiting for this episode since that start and smiling and calling you sweet summer children ... But now Congrats getting to the infamous red wedding and now you are man and woman of winter 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
One of the cruelest parts for me is that they didn't allow Cat to go before Robb :( they made her watch her baby boy, her first, die after she already thought most of her kids were dead
CONGRATULATIONS! you are not longer 'sweet summer children". All your reactions are very cute, and you make a lot of funny comments, but this episode reminds you that you are watching a Drama. You just watched the most horrific episode on TV history. Just remember not to blink when something "bad" happens on an episode or you will miss something.
The show has shown that no one is safe and many will die. Perhaps in a future episode you two can pick two people that you think will be alive after the last episode of the last season? Might be fun to see if they live?
When the show started my daughter was all abouyt shipping (two people rhat you want to get together) and OTP (One True Pairing) she was shook whenher first OTP( Daenarys-Drago) ended badly. After the Red Wedding she swore off ever both ideas for the rest of the show.
Cody, your face shows every emotion, and that’s what I love. In this episode of death, it’s Arya’s loss that makes me the saddest. To have come so near …
When she sees the chainmail... aaah!!! Thank you for sharing your incredible reactions with us. I hope you can heal quickly from the pain of this crazy episode 😢
Fuck ya. Love this episode. I think every reaction I've seen, someone says, " Im not watching this damn show anymore." 😆 90% of shows, heroes and the good guys never die, its predicable. In this show they do. That is what makes it brilliant. No one is safe.
Breathe….. it gets a little easier after this episode 😊 the title of the episode is the name of the song they play during the wedding(when they close the doors)
The Red Wedding is the greatest scene in TV history. Perfectly executed. The banquet and bedding ceremony ease you into a sense of security then the sudden brutal violence catches you off guard and the characters you've been rooting for are unceremoniously wiped out. Catelyns tormented scream at the end is haunting too. Despite their good intentions this was their fault. Robb broke his oath to Walder Frey. If he kept his oath they could have crossed their army at the twins, sacked Casterly Rock and won the war. Catelyn stupidly started the war in the first place whilst Ned was still in Kings Landing by taking Tyrion, she told Ned to trust Littlefinger and she told Robb to trust Walder Frey.
I love how genuine your reactions were, cause I'm sure everyone in the comment section felt the same anger and sadness as you guys lol. Never had a show make me feel as connected as Thrones. When this episode first aired it was so controversial that it made the national news the next day and every daytime talk show was talking about this episode. It was definitely a shift in worldwide pop culture. Y’alls reactions did not disappoint! Please keep going with the show.
I'd say this is accurate. It's certainly what got me looking at reactions.
There were a few reactors before this (like Mark Oshiro), but this definitely caused the explosion of the genre.
I've been waiting for this moment since you made the reaction to the 1st episode.
The Lannisters send their regards...
And Jaime expressed this exact line a few episodes ago, nice foreshadowing.
"Can we have a wedding like this, the next time we get married?"
LOL, are you sure?
Here's the thing about The Rains of Castamere (the song that started playing doing the carnage). That's a Lannister song, meaning that Tywin orchestrated the whole thing (now you know who he was writing letters to for the entire season.)
The thing about Tywin is that his dad was an idiot who squandered the Lannister riches and name.
See, the last wedding wasn't so bad after all
They only get better from here
I threw the book across the room when I read this chapter back in the day. Took me a weeks to pick it back up again.
"Do you wanna say anything?" "NO I'M MAD"
Same, Bridgette. Same. There are other episodes that are huge surprises, but this one was a real kick in the nuts.
remember last episode when cersei and margaery were talking about house Reyne of castamere that was destroyed by tywin? the song the rains of castamere which is the title and what was played after the doors closed is about that story, sometimes when tywin sends people a message he also sends a singer to sing this song to intimidate them. thats why catelyn reacted like that when she heard it
We've reached the Moment 😅😅
The night is dark and full of Weddings 😂🎉
No one ever realised that Catelyn is instantly concerned when they start playing the Reynes of Castemere
I'll never get tired of The Red Wedding reactions lmfao
I remember when I kept telling you to put Frey and Bolton on your map...
Btw, Bolton's house symbol is the flayed man, aka the thing you called Theon when you saw it in Rob's map.
Took me back to my reaction the first time I watched it. And the silence during the credits while you sit there in shock. Crazy stuff.
The guy closing and locking the doors as they started to play the Lannister's 'Rains of Castamere' was a dead giveaway.. Still, NO ONE* could've expected such an outcome, I think we all needed healing after this episode.
Notice that GiLly calls him wizard while he said he always wanted to be one in the 1st season
FINALLY, THE DAY HAS COME !
This show gave us a huge lesson... Don't get attached to a character cuz they might die later. This episode was brutal and broke everyone's heart.
And you know we're all sadistic F's because we'll all watch reactions leading up to it all eating our popcorn and smiling waiting for the moment y'all see this lol xD
I remember sitting in my pitch black room for about 3 hours after this staring at a black screen :)
When Gilly told Sam he was like a wizard for knowing so many things from books, that cute smile he had, remember when Jon was placed in the stewarts and was upset? Sam had told Jon how he'd always wanted to be a wizard. Such a cute callback.
“Can we have a wedding like this?”
Me: just wait you might want to rethink that. 😂
I like Bridgette's mindset. She knows this show well enough not to get her hopes up, lol.
"If you think this has a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention."
I'm a big movie person
And I never get animated when crazy things happen But when this scene happened at the end, I stood up from The couch yelled at the TV So confused to wear the show could possibly go from here. G o t Has no chill.
the bar is high, but they will push it higher.. This aint Obiwan Kenoby, Boba Fett or s*t like all the late disney shows...
Let me "officially" welcome you to the game of throne. You win or you die.
Robb didn't win🥲
the game "officially" started in season 1, after King Robert died.
@@USCFlash Yes, but for me, you don't really know the show until you watched the red wedding.
@@penguincgm489
does not change anything. the game "officially" started when the throne went up for grabs.
@@USCFlash You do know that I also mean to say the word game of throne as a pun right? Both mean welcome them to the show and talked about playing the game. If not, then whatever. I intended to talk to them, not to you.
@@penguincgm489
still did not start in 3-9.
We actually had the musicians (cello and violin) play The Rains of Castamere at our wedding right before we walked the aisle.
Those who knew they knew and laughed 😅
I'm holding off getting ready for the day just to watch this episode 😂😂
Welp thats the red wedding, winter is here, and we are no longer sweet summer children. Welcome to game of thrones.
Codys reaction was worth watching the whole series so far. Hilarious, made my day.
I remember the silence after the episode ended with me staring at the credits with tears falling down my face lmao I literally had NO idea smh.
Also, Cat died thinking all her children were done for.😢
The Lannisters send their regards.
24:20 STILL GAVE ME CHILLS
I was in depression for 2 weeks after watching this episode.
18:10 - "Can we have a wedding like THIS?" Oy......
Seriously, though...you think David Bradley, the actor who plays Walder Frey, gets invited to many weddings these days? Seeing him sitting at a table or, even worse, making a toast would definitely make ME nervous...(kind of like if you ever saw any of the actors from "Lost" on your airplane.)
Michelle Fairley killed it this episode. Very chilling end of the episode. Iconic moment in tv history.
"Can we have a wedding like this" might be the funniest thing I've ever heard someone say right before they watched the RW.
I've watched this series many times, this episode never ceases to be traumatizing, every time I cry watching it.
After all, the last wedding wasn't so bad 😅
The song “The Rains of Castamere” is about Tywin wiping house Reyne who and Castamere was their castle
So easy to forget everything else that happened in this episode prior to the Red Wedding. I'm glad that you had zero spoilers, your reactions were on par with the rest of us.
One time a friend called me early in the morning freaking out *”They’re dead! They’re all dead.”* It genuinely freaked me out but luckily he’d just watched this episode and then it was pretty funny. For me.
Literally got to 17:50 and had to leave for therapy. Appropiate lol
18:10 "CAN WE HAVE A WEDDING LIKE THIS?" BRIDGET OH MY GOD
And now they are no longer sweet summer children. Finally. Welcome to Game of Thrones.
I had to watch the wedding part twice, because your guys' reactions are priceless. So sorry that you had to go through that, but now you're traumatized with the rest of us. LOL!
The reactions are so organic.... l love it!
The episode most of us have been waiting for you to react!!
when I saw yesterday's tag line "worst wedding ever", I thought, cute. wait until tomorrow.
Never gets old seeing first reactions of the Red Wedding
Push through, brighter times are ahead
The episode we’ve been waiting for!
From “This wedding is so cool! 😁 let’s have one!” to utter heartbreak and despair in 10 minutes.
And we all have been waiting for this episode since that start and smiling and calling you sweet summer children ... But now Congrats getting to the infamous red wedding and now you are man and woman of winter 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
This is a good episode for reactions but not the one i wait for...... i prefer the traitor one
“Every time a stark separates they never see each other again” poor timing my lord 🤣🤣🤣
I believe this episode popularized reaction content. It started out as a 'prank' in which book-readers filmed their friends' reaction to the episode.
"I don't want to watch this show anymore." Literally all of us.
And there it is - the birth of reaction videos ! It came from this 😃 1st class reaction guys, nicely done 😘😘
Been religiously watching this series or reactions just for this moment!
Cody, your face shows every emotion, and that’s what I love. In this episode of death, it’s Arya’s loss that makes me the saddest. To have come so near …
The timing of your reaction is impeccable, 10 years ago, in summer this aired on HBO, and I was stunned. Great reaction!
When she sees the chainmail... aaah!!! Thank you for sharing your incredible reactions with us. I hope you can heal quickly from the pain of this crazy episode 😢
Bread and Salt passed among a group signifies brotherhood and peace between us all through this gathering.
At 20:44 The moment EVERYONE literally was waiting for.............. *THE RED 🩸 WEDDING*
Fuck ya. Love this episode. I think every reaction I've seen, someone says, " Im not watching this damn show anymore." 😆 90% of shows, heroes and the good guys never die, its predicable. In this show they do. That is what makes it brilliant. No one is safe.
25:40 - That outro hits hard.
Breathe….. it gets a little easier after this episode 😊 the title of the episode is the name of the song they play during the wedding(when they close the doors)
Yeah you guys were right about Roose Bolton remember when he freed Jamie he told Roose to tell Robb Stark "The Lannisters send their regards"
It's unfortunate that those words were said by Jaime in a happy unassuming way and were twisted by Bolton as he took Robb's life.
@@heatherferrell7189 absolutely heather
And thus, Winter descended on Brigeco
Fun Fact: The Band playing at the wedding was "Coldplay"
I love how genuine your reactions were, cause I'm sure everyone in the comment section felt the same anger and sadness as you guys lol. Never had a show make me feel as connected as Thrones. I actually just re-felt the same rage and pain you guys just felt and the credits roll out in complete silence for the one and only time in the show. So many more big moments to come, Keep crushing and I'll keep crushing with y'all!! House Bridgeco for the win 🙌⚔
'You don't fuck around with Walder Frey'.
from the moment you guys starting watching GoT i was waiting patiently for u guys to get to this episode and see both of your reactions to the red wedding
The most famous wedding of all-time! Happy the Red Wedding wasn't ruined for you. No character is safe in GOT
18:20 are you sure you want a wedding like this?
I found you guys when you first started posting game of Thrones, I believe episode 1 actually and earned my subscription a few episodes later. I have been waiting for this episode since lol. I might comment after I watch your review lol
I’ve never seen Cody more in disbelief 😩😭
been waiting for you to get to this episode. I stopped reading the book for a month, after this happend. we know your pain.
Bran and Rickon's direwolves are Summer and Shaggydog. I love that you knew Rickon's name, most reactors forget about him entirely. Ghost is still north of the wall.
I love u guys! Best reaction video so far ! My GOT journey has just began and you guys are pushing me thru it ❤️🫰🏾
George RR Martin sends his regards.
this episode alone was the reason reaction videos became very popular on youtube and people started reacting to scenes and then to full episodes
This episode hits so hard every time
I cried more than Bridget, though having already watched this scene hundreds of time.
@@LizzieJaneBennet totally get it. It will never not hurt
RIP to the Queen In The North.
You not watching GoT till you've seen the red wedding, so....WELCOME!
whe she said "can we have a wedding like this?" I was 😂
