I recently purchased an Xtreme 3 and am not thrilled with it. Also I think JBL is like Apple in that they love to continually introduce "new" models that they could have incorporated all of the features in a single unit. 🐾🐕🐶
I also am thinking that in the near future Bluetooth will become old tech and WiFi is what will be. I won't again purchase any portable speaker without it. ALL speakers should incorporate all features. It's simply a money grab by these corporate entities. 🐾🐕🐾
In my country Lithuania the JBL charge 5 costs 130 euros, sometimes even 120 euros. While the Wifi version costs a whopping 250 euros, that's just beyond messed up!
I have one for You, and it relates to the Charge 5's (pair) and the JBL Boombox 3. When I made My decision to purchase My Boombox 3, and after of course watching Your videos, I visualized Me playing it in conjunction with the Charge 5's, expanding the sound listening spectrum. I know that pairing two of the same BT speakers typically results in TWS or true wireless stereo (left and right channels respectively.) Typically, when three (3) Bluetooth speakers are paired in party mode of some sort, each speaker plays back music in a mono format, or all speakers playing the exact same sound. However, in one of Your previous videos, You mentioned that the Boombox 3 was by itself a system; and You were correct in more ways than You probably think. When I paired My Charge 5's (pair) with My Boombox 3, the system did NOT play in mono, rather it played in 3.1 with each speaker playing differing sounds. TWS is basically involves a left and right speaker stereo imaging a center speaker, even though one is NOT present. Please, please, please pair Your Boombox 3, Your second favorite BT speaker with Your favorite BT speakers the Charge 5's, playing some 1970's and 80's music, in particular the Gap Band's "Yearning For Your Love" and listen to the music separation of each speaker bended back together for 3.1 stereo imaging! The Boombox 3 actually plays backup for the Charge 5's and functions very similarly to an actual single subwoofer for the entire system. The Charge 5's perform as left and right speakers. The BB3 does not play as many instruments during music playback as the Charge 5's will. As a system, they are a beast and force to be reckoned with! I tried the BB3 with the Extreme 3's, but I felt I got better sound results utilizing the BB3 with the Charger 5's as originally intended. The Extreme 3's seemed to blend in with or behind the BB3, even though they too, sounded good with the BB3. Less volume during playback equals longer music playing time, less drainage on the battery. The Charge 5's are the best economically and sound wise. Sounds like a new video idea to Me! ;) I connect the BB3 to My phone as the primary speaker and the rest is history! I spaced My speakers about three (3) feet apart for My testing and observations.
The Charge 5 was just made more versatile with wifi, and I’m here for. What I’m not here for is the $50 price increase 😒. Also, I don’t know why JBL just didn’t wait until the 6 to add wifi because this speaker has been out for a minute
Costco for sure! Also, if they named it the 6 instead, I’m sure people wouldn’t complain that the battery is nearly twice as large and the speakers slightly bigger. Basically the same thing as just calling it the 6.
You probably experienced all sorts of phase issues when you ran them as WiFi and Bluetooth as the two methods of connecting them will have different network latency. You should use two WiFi or two Bluetooth speakers connected the same way. When connected the same way the latency will be identical so both sound sources will; remain in phase. Phase cancellation often sounds like a tinny or thin sound and can sound a bit strange. You seemed to describe this when you played them both. Both speakers have the same spec so it is unlikely you were hearing a variation in quality. The only other reason for the Bluetooth model sounding more tinny is due to the Bluetooth signal affecting the sound which it does. I bought the Bluetooth-only version and am annoyed I didn't know there was a WiFi version as I would have bought that instead for the quality.
I bought one for my husband from Costco for $129 after $50 price reduction about 2 weeks ago. Haven’t set it up yet since I’m hoping to hold out till Father’s Day. Plus it just might go on sale again in June and maybe pick up another one. We’d only use it in the front or back porch area since we’re old folks and not ppl who would travel with it. Really appreciate you taking the time to share the features and feel like it’s a great purchase without regrets. Thank you for sharing and very informational. Like any sound device it sounds better on a shelf/table vs hanging from our house eaves. If I’m making any sense. We’ll install shelves to set them on. Have a nice day and thx again.
I had been looking for a new portable Bluetooth speaker. The one I have is over 12 years old. It only ever gave me about 7 hours playtime and took about eight hours to charge up from zero. After seeing your review and demonstrations I ordered the charge 5 Bluetooth only version and got it today. It was almost fully charged out of the box so I could use it right away. The sound is excellent and the simple equalizer is easy to use. The speaker is smaller than I thought it would be but it's just about the same size as my old one. I got a black one because it was the cheapest and was also on sale. I really wanted the blue one like you have but it cost 40 bucks more. Black is the cheapest color. I was told that the price difference is because of supply and demand. More people want the other colors so they have to pay more. But I'm very happy with the speaker. Perhaps I'll get a second one someday to use the party mode. Thanks again for your super recommendations!
Just bough a 5 WiFi, sound is beautiful. Only thing I found underwhelming is the fact that bass it’s not as punchy as it’s advertised, it’s there, but only noticeable by little at low volumes. Other than that for the portability and battery it offers a great speaker, I bought it for less than a 100 so I’d say it was worth it. Wouldn’t have bough it for the msrp though.
Well, this is just like previous jbl speakers where they changed the party boost link mode. They want you to upgrade your speakers. Nice thing about the wifi is you should be able to link new models in the future. Annnd you should maintain your EQ settings where all settings went to flat in party mode. Plus if phone rings or you get texts you don't get music interruptions. I know how you feel. Hopefully wifi is the last step.

I'm wondering if it's because my original Charge 5 is broken in? Sometimes speakers and headphones sound better over time with a bit of usage after the drivers loosen up.
@@NewStuffTV1 Hi again!😊 I have a question: is it possible to charge the Charge5 trough a car charger adaptor? ...or it's not recommended as it might damage the batteries?
I like your reviews and your style. I just discovered you today. But rather than having to deal with the Wi-Fi and connecting two speakers together can't your phone be connected to two speakers at the same time? That would seem like an easy solution especially if the two speakers aren't compatible to each other for connecting.
Yes, Android/Samsung phones can connect two speakers at the same time. BUT, sometimes there are latency issues and even connection issues. It happens to me all the time when I'm comparing speakers (even happens in this video) I like having the wifi so I can connect it to my other Google Home speakers and still have the versatility of moving it around.

I will not buy JBL because they cancel the partyboost. I have one Extreme and if i will buy the Charge 5 with wifi or Boombox with wifi i can't use them in partyboost. One client lost for JBL.
The jbl speakers are always the best I have clip 5 and charge 5 small circle clip 5 does it’s job and when it comes to like bbq party outdoor i bring the charge 5 always good choice of speakers of jbl can I have the song name you played in the video at 12:03 is nice song
I purchased one recently. I'm not happy with the bluetooth connection. I must have my phone directly along side the JBL Charge 5 for the sound to play crisp. 4ft-6ft away and the connection breaks, and the music becomes choppy, or as you described "Cut outs". I doubt, I could host a backyard BBQ. Playing music while the my phone is in my pocket will be a problem as I'm grilling. I'm thinking of returning this speaker. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
Wait if jbl charge 5 wifi can be connected to wifi, does that mean i can be on wifi and use it everywhere i want, meaning my phone has a WiFi connection and use apps like yt, snap, etc.
@@nivinantony7290I think only benefit here is that you don't need to be so close with your mobile + speaker as via Bluetooth.... only limit here is WiFi range... Plus casting as he explained. But an 8+ watts which totslly kicked above their weight in quality, volune, and durability. They could be thrown around and stomped on and never broke. JBL's? Not so. I'm currently struggling at the moment to find stuff that isn't just sales bumph pish since the Divoom Viboom range is no longer with us sadly (but for a few of the smaller ones occasionally being around.. still worth buying.)

I have a sony srs x7 that is wifi and bluetooth. That speaker is 10 years old.
sounds good when it chose to work though Bluetooth but disconnect or connects but no sound. Keep resetting it but no joy. Haven’t tried Wi-Fi. Would not recommend never had any issue on any device before. So ZERO stars for me
I will not buy JBL because they cancel the partyboost. I have one Extreme and if i will buy the Charge 5 with wifi or Boombox with wifi i can't use them in partyboost.
One client lost for JBL.
how to play music from youtube over wifi on "jbl charge 5 wifi"?
Very helpfull
Thank You very much
I WANNA C MORE OF THAT BACK YARD 😁👌👌
Il faut une box wifi à proximité
No the WiFi means you can stream music from your phone to the speaker it needs to be connected to the same WiFi network as your phone to work
@@pixelreflectorproBut what's the actual benefit we getting over Bluetooth connection?
@@nivinantony7290 better sound quality
@@nivinantony7290I think only benefit here is that you don't need to be so close with your mobile + speaker as via Bluetooth.... only limit here is WiFi range... Plus casting as he explained. Via WiFi you are on mobile only controlling playlist, but music data are transfering via WiFi directly to speaker omitting mobile device.
I just liked this for yr Goonies T-shirt ❤
Hey bro, i saw a new range of The JBL Authentics coming up, do you think you can get your hands on one of those so we can see how it performs?
Thank you.
Why is the JBL Charge 5 WIFI LINK YOU POSTED go to Harman/Kardon instead???
Fixed! Thanks for letting me know. amzn.to/3vcm1DY

Real Talk which would you actually buy the JBL Charge 5 Wi-Fi or Bluetooth
So basically a UE Mega blast?
I bought 2, and they do Not pair together .....
Returned them and bought the Charge 5
UNPRESENTABLE UNFORGIVABLE FOR THE PRICE IT IS NOT STEREO, IT IS FOR PARTIES AND NOTHING ELSE, thanks for the review
I need to upgrade my Bluetooth speaker. The cheap one is not doing so well.
Too many smaller units from other makers kick it's ass.
Even way back around 2014 ish, Divoom Vibooms which were only around 18cm long, but with clevery designed casings to accommodate really clever little drivers pushing out a combined 8 watts up, deoending on model.
I know why the sound different ther ar to factory that make JBL I have 2 JBL charge 5 bleutoothe and use different speakers and One outer casing has screws and the other autocasion and the sound a smal bit different
great looking dog

JBL Charge 5 is the worst speaker i have owned. It constantly crackles & the JBL app is useless. Do not buy this speaker.
