Edit: Finally found the anime I was looking for, it's Excel Saga.
The artwork reminds me of an anime I used to watch with my brothers. I was too young to understand what anime was or what the characters were even saying. Butt, I still don't know the anime.
I know the artwork is of aho girl, but I don't think it's the anime I long to watch.
The anime I want to find is about a main character (girl), ALWAYS hungry with growling stomachs, and occasionally chasing a dog-like figure with an X on its butt for source of food. The doglike animals was either purple or white, most likely white. And was much smaller than than Mc and the similar looking anime in video artwork.
On one of the episodes, two characters were dealing with a hoard of "cute animals", but one stayed behind and suffered a "cute overload"
I'm unsure what language it was or if it was dubbed, but it did have subtitles.
And this probably doesn't help but I watched via DVD.
That's everything I can recall.
This anime hunt is sorta emotionally important to me and I'm glad that the artwork gave me a super memory jog.

Then again... everything is funny to a kid. The most important thing to reference is that the Main characters stomach was ALWAYS growling, and she was trying to eat an animal that kept running away from her. I really wish i could help out...
