0:50 to quote TheRussianBadger, "Because if someone tries something once and calls it trash, I'd believe them. If they try it twice and call it trash, I'd be skeptical. But if someone has deep-throated a hotdog three times, called them trash yet is begging for a fourth, you know they are lying piece of shit."
As a lifeguard myself, it's highly important to have lifeguards on duty. Professional swimmers could get cramps in the middle of the pool. That's the most likely scenario that u could think of.
Or a seizure. Or a heart attack. Or something else like that. The fact that lifeguards have never had to do anything in the Olympics thus far doesn't mean they aren't necessary, the whole reason for lifeguards to exist is to be there in case something that's not supposed to happen does happen.
To answer Noble's question, the people who continue to watch a show despite the first episode being trash, are just very optimistic and hoping that the series somehow improves despite the slim chance of it
But to be fair, there are a couple of shows where i thought it's garbage after watching the first episode and then it turned out good or at least entertaining.
"Sure, because beating the piss out of each other is grounds for a healthy relationship." - said sarcastically by a character from an abridged series, but apparently sincerely believed by some people...
Studio Deen historically is not really known for good animation. Konosuba is one of the big exception because it had a fantastic director. Also, Seven Deadly Sins post season 2 was animated by Studio Deen. Animation Industry is very free lance/staff focused instead of company focused. It's not like in games where the same director and staff will handle a specific series for years or even decades at a time. As long as konosuba has a lot of the same staff or the same director, it should be good. Although, I think the director is busy with Kaguya Sama currently.
For what its worth, there are some anime that do wait until the last few episodes to actually piece together all the plot points. I've never had to convince anyone to not drop Flip Flappers after the first or third episode, but anyone that drops it before episode 10 literally misses out on the best part of the whole show. Same thing with Danganronpa games. The last case is the only one with any actual plot about how they ended up killing each other, but it cranks it to 11 every time.
Just watched the first two episodes of "Vampire in the garden" and man, finally something to compete with Violet Evergarden in terms of heart wrenching "OMG that did not happen" scenes and alot of very cool and intresting (and surprisingly intricate) world lore
Here's the deal. Me and my friends have come up with the 3 piece rule. We watch the first three episodes of an anime, and if we didn't like them, we drop them. But we have to watch the all 3 regardless of how we might feel about them in the first two episodes.

2:59 technically because yes it’s rare incidents happen during Olympic swimming games but incidents still happen so at best you’re getting paid to keep a eye out for anything that does go wrong and act to fix it.
"Unlikely". While it is not common, there has been cases of swimmers suffering heart-attacks, getting injured etc. Maybe not in the Olympics but outside of it. no body of water is safe without a life-guard, as Gura would say that includes bath-tubs :3
Professional athletes in the Olympics are straining themselves to the utmost, beyond the normal human limits. It's entirely possible that they'll snap a tendon or something, and you want a life guard for those situations.
7:42 I'm just take this chance to just ruin Genshin Impact alittle bit here for you by informing you that Laura Stahl (the voice of Barbara and Xinyan) also voices Mami in the English Dub of Rent-a-Girlfriend... and Iruma-kun from Welcome to Demon School! I think Olympic lifeguards have a reason to be: Pro athletes push the limits of the human body to the extreme, so serious injuries are common. If you're a soccer player (for example), that just means missing a couple of games, but if a swimmer's body breaks mid-competition, they'll often not have the mobility to stay afloat. So, ironically, it's not because they're not good enough, but rather because they're so good, their own bodies can't handle it
3:52... I mean Konosuba is a God of an anime... but why no one talking about Spice and Wolf 3 that has been dead for years? I'VE NEVER BEEN MORE EXCITED FOR AN ANIME!
Honestly I give an anime 2 to 3 episodes before I drop it cause half the time the first episode is just world building and the true plot doesn't kick in until episode 2 or 3 if I'm not into it by then I'm out

I don't mean things like the Iron Butt Monkey trope or the Comic Relief. These are almost always done for laughs and are generally harmless. The best example I can think of is Full Dive. I hate this anime with a burning passion. The main character is tricked by some shop keep floozy to buy a game that is not intended for his age bracket, is mental scarred and abused by his experiences in the game, embarrasses himself IN PUBLIC due to the events in the game, and all the while, the damn floozy is goading and teasing him into staying and "sticking it out".
