I can't imagine how magical this had to be to hear Couperin back then, like your own life movie only made of silence and noises suddenly had a soundtrack
Somber, meditative, then hopeful, then sad, then celebratory and delightful, then tragic, then beautiful and thoughtful. A whole range of human emotions is expressed.
This period in music has some unbelievable magic, doesnt it? Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, Telemann are but the most known names, but I keep being stunned by how many great composers were then, of whom we know little about. It is bliss to be able to learn and listen more. Thanks TH-cam, thanks all the people who contribute

I would really like to see lovers of baroque harpsichord music, both musicians and enthusiasts, start a push to have Scott Ross take his riightful place in the Pantheen of Musical Geniuses of the 20th century.
(This especially goes for you fans in the LGBT community, many of whom seem to be sittng on your hands regardiing this important. project.)

Thank you so much for posting these performances. While some of Scott Ross's recordings - notably the landmark Scarlatti sonatas - are still available on CD, the unavailability of many others, notably the Couperin and Rameau sets, is truly a shame. Very glad that people are sharing them here on TH-cam! :-)
A shame I agree completly with you ! I had to pay a lot of money to buy the complets works of Rameau by Ross on the market of occasion
It was not for nothing Couperin was named "Couperin Le Grand".

El acompañamiento de la mano izquierda es prácticamente otra melodía. Parecen obras a dos voces. Hace muy pocos acordes. Se podría hasta cantar cada pieza. Igual para la mano derecha donde hay muy pocos acordes.

Ben mon gars, nous sommes en France, Charles Asnavour ; hallyday et compagnie c'est tellement mieux.
J'n sais pas quel age vous avez, moi 82, j'ai du attendre 70 ans et enfin TH-cam, pour avoir du médiéval, du renaissance et au final du baroque, que j'aime tant....

Cuando escucho a Couperin por ratos me recuerda a algunas de las obras de Bach o Handel, distinto de Rameau que suena siempre muy diferente.

Is it possible to buy these extraordinary CDs, "L'integrale de Clavecin au Chateau d'Assas" ?
The 12 CD set was issued as a limited edition over 30 years ago and has never been reissued since. The only possibility would be to buy it second hand but it would only rarely come on the market and then at a very high price.

Muy reite3rativo en sus temas, aburre algo. no se ven armonías nuevas... todo es lo mismo, cansino. No se le diferencia de otros compositores, sal Jena Philippe Rameau que es algo excepcional en su época.
