Right? I accidentally discovered the handbook would automatically open the the thing in my inventory I was hovering over, I didn't realize I could do it with blocks too!
Yeah I agree, MZ. Having a crafting tree showing me the paths I can take items would make Vintage Story's crafting system superior to JEI in modded Minecraft. I'm still learning items I can make because there's just so much stuff to build and the handbook is more referential than it is a step by step guide. Still invaluable, all the same.
probably kind of odd to focus on it, but the raft is absolutely amazing, i can see if you have an smp with friends and whatnot someone could probably be the ferryman that links towns, sites, people, together through rivers, lakes, oceans, comine with the in game sign posts, clothing options, and ability to make really anything, is honestly awesome
Oh no, this video was very helpful for me. I've had the game for only a few days, early building has confounded me. Also, I created a raft, but couldn't do anything with it. Now I know why. I love the bit-by--bit vids, because you give knowledge useful for newbies and never feel condescending for folks who've been playing a while. Your bit-by-bits are my first go-to with new MC mods and things if I'm totally lost. LOL
I was waiting the whole time for you to explain how you made the little support sticks for your tiny base in this video. I really like the aesthetic for a caveman shack but I can't figure out how to make them.
This is a great guide. Its the one thing that doesn't seem to be covered in the handbook. Of course coming from Minecraft it was hard to understand how I was supposed to make a good looking base in VS.
I can't say that the video was helpful for me, I knew almost everything before that, except for the slab setting, but I would definitely like to have this video when i start playing game. Keep going, you are doing very well
On my first playthrough and I believe the doors still fall off the hinge occasionally in the current test version, I honestly really like that feature though
I really wish partial blocks would let you put thinks up against them. Like if they picked a side of the block rather than being in the middle. I want to hang torches and prop up my tools
Is there a way to make fence gates open not just to the North & West direction? It doesn't seem to matter which side I face when I place them down, they always open towards the same two directions. :(
Can mobs climb a ladder? If for example you want to make an elevated base for more protection, early on? I know they can climb a bit better than in minecraft...but do they do ladders? XD
i was really hoping that they would be doing more with this game. my friends and I did everything there is to do in this game in about a day and a half. I really hope they add more content some day.
It seriously looks like the game is still in development, I saw something that indicated they wanted to improve/add some stuff before letting it out to places like Steam. So, I have high hopes. :)
You explored, built a nice homestead, got bees and crops and fruit trees and good soil and a stocked cellar with a fruit press and booze, got leather backpacks for everyone, built a windmill(s) with a quern and helve hammers, progressed all the way from copper to iron, made a pulverizer to get refractory bricks to make a cementation furnace to make steel, got fully geared, and killed the dungeon boss in a day and a half? Did you sleep?
Good on them for including a handbook to identify things in the world. Too many survival games basically require having the wiki open

@@AlatheD Any in world item that is in the handbook can be.
I just wish I could see all the things I can craft with the items I have in my inventory, or collected at one point

I didn't realize Shift H was a thing. That's going to be helpful.
Ah, I love my little cob hovels, it gives me a nice feeling as I slowly transform it into a cozy Hobbit hole cottage.
The first thing I do when I find a settleable area is build a cob hole then pile soil on it and cover it in berry bushes

i think its just rough hewn fences which just require some logs sticks and an axe
You'll find that "microblock chiseling" is your friend in this case. Make a copper chisel and you can easily chiseling the posts to your liking!
This is a great guide. Its the one thing that doesn't seem to be covered in the handbook. Of course coming from Minecraft it was hard to understand how I was supposed to make a good looking base in VS.
I've been having a lot of fun with this game. Especially fun with family and friends.
This is a great series thanks for taking the time to make it
You're welcome:)

ive had this game for a few days now and i didnt even know half of the stuff you showed was even possible
10:25 Now that’s a sight I have not seen in a very long time
Great video playlist. I'm glad I found it.
Another great video ❤
*Wonderful video. Thank you!*
This video is really helpful. Thank you
Very helpful video. Thank you!
You're welcome 😁
Well done, thank you!
Taking notes from this for when I finally get this game 👀
Hey, was just wondering how you make those posts holding up part of your hut, I am unsure of what to search to find them in the handbook?
Those are just single rough hewn fence!
I love that Vintage Story has vertical slabs somthn minecraft will never add 😢
Mojang is so stupid for not adding vertical slabs. I don’t see why they won’t 🤦♀️
*Dirt box build now*
*Ooga booga!*
On my first playthrough and I believe the doors still fall off the hinge occasionally in the current test version, I honestly really like that feature though
Solid thumbnail.
That oar is so crude it's not an oar but a paddle... :P
It's a Poar.
very helpful thank you
You open a crude door it just falls off its henges is funny
Bought the game today, really feels like you are that @PrimitiveTechnology guy in a blockgame!
Warm greetings from the Netherlands🇳🇱.

what are those poles you're using to hold the little hut up?
fences
definitely helped

Hi, I'm considering buying this. Can I rebind the keys? I'm missing my H and it seems it'll be handy for the game.
Yep you can rebind anything at all, the options and customizability are vast in VS
How do you place the sticks to hold up the thatch roof?
Those are just crude wood fences
@@MischiefofMice wow thank you, I was looking so hard for it and it was so simple xD

how do you make the wood posts?
Try a fence
@@MischiefofMice thanks for the reply! Watched through your whole series, so helpful!
I still cant figure out roofing it drives me crazy lol
What are you trying to figure out?
@@MischiefofMice I can never get them to go in right even with dirt lol takes 4 or 5 times it's a skill issue
I thought it was Minecraft mod at first 🙃
It definitely wears its influences on its sleeve, lol
It's inspired by TerraFirmaCraft I believe.
This is, in fact, Minecraft... No matter which way you wanna slice it, It's Minecraft.
Minecraft is more sandboxy than this game. I'd argue this is game is more like the lovechild of Minecraft and The Forest.
Is every pixel art game just Pong, then?
i was really hoping that they would be doing more with this game. my friends and I did everything there is to do in this game in about a day and a half. I really hope they add more content some day.
When was the last time you played it? A HUGE update happened with 1.18 by adding in the "story event" location...
