Good video guys as always! All these AI or chip stocks aren't cheap by any means after their run last year and this year. Nevertheless Broadcom isn't "insanely priced". It is "frothy", I agree with you, but then compared to NVDA or AMD, it isn't frothy at all and it has very good potential. Broadcom is also a dividend growth play. Hock is very much in command of this business and he just never disappoints on these earning calls. It seems the VMWare business WILL become what they hoped it would, perhaps even more. All in all Broadcom is certainly a "sleep well at night" stock. If the AI stocks will ever dip then I would say AVGO should definitely be scooped much more then.
Guys, speaking of top chip stock, AI, Ai, AI babebedibu.. What about the explosive growth in demand for HBM chips? SK Hynix is riding the wave for the foreseeable future! Maybe a video on that? Though SK hynix has sailed already maybe Samsung is attractive, though not a pure play in that area.
By the way, by Hock's agreement he was supposed to hit $1125 per share anywhere between 2025-2027 in order to receive 1M shares (that is over $1B compensation). Isn't it incredible that we're in first quarter of 2024 and he already hit >$1400 .....
played MRVL a few times and I last bought it at 55$ and sold it last night in afterhours at 81.20$ I wasnt impressed at all with earnings but if it dips down to the low 60's$ Ill buy back in
Any drops of significance in the next year or so of Mrvl will be a huge opportunity to scoop up more shares. Anything in the mid to low 60's will be acceptable. Under $60 will be a definitive BUY!
correct me if Im wrong but a stock buy back announcement doesnt really mean they will ever buy 3 Bil$ worth of stock? and usually even if they do start buying their own shares that usually means they are not really using their cash to expand the business as aggresively as in the past
You are correct, although a share buyback could also just mean that the company is simply generating more cash than in the past, not that it isn't spending as much as before
I really have become a passive listener of your chip analysis content! Keep it up! I also would like to know deeper about your current portfolio. I titled all my allocations to tech/semiconductors bearing in mind my risk tolerance, but it would be nice to have an overview about your overall portfolio. Thanks!
Hi Td, we can understand that. We do occasionally do some portfolio videos, as to what we might be buying, adding, or trimming, but overall we try to focus on research in the videos to give the investor as much insight as possible in order to make their own decisions. But if you want specific "stocks we are buying" and other nuanced discussion, as @shannonoliver7992 mentioned, the Discord membership is the way to go. We appreciate your support!
I may add, if there are some specific cos and topics we have covered and you want a more in depth view of it, check out our Ko-Fi shop where we put our show notes and manuals. ko-fi.com/chipstockinvestor
Do you guys know anything about the Dell PowerScale/DGX Superpod collaboration with Nvidia? Is this really all that game changing and is this a unique product? I hear some people saying its a big breakthrough because its the fastest AI storage in the world which is a big deal because Nvidia GPUs will sit idle if you can't feed them data fast enough. With Nvidia doing massive breakthroughs in GPUs all the time will this product become essential at some point because you will in turn need a data solution that can keep up?
Marvell guided Q1 revenue for consumer, enterprise, carrier and auto/industrial to be collective💩💩💩. It looks like Q1 data center could be ~75% of their revenue. lol By the end of the year, they should be firing on all cyclinders though. I couldn't pass up a 10+% drop. I just bought more today at $76. I don't mind waiting.
Pretty wild. In their defense, they must have seen this coming, thus all the acquisitions to bet on data centers in recent years. Could have a big pay off by 2026.
While I understand the appeal of Broadcom both as a business model and its financials, I don't get Marvell. Poorly run, unprofitable, with products all over the place that don't bring in synergies, so also poorly managed (not to mention buying shares at close to ATH) . On top of everything a PE of over 90.
Couple of items as counterpoint: if it's unprofitable, how is there a positive PE ratio? Also, amortization needs to be accounted for, as that's money that was already spent. Look at FCF. And data center will be well over half of revenue this year. After some major acquisitions a couple years ago, they are building synergies across their IP.
@@chipstockinvestorSorry, didn't mean to sound harsh. I love your videos and the wealth of information! I just don't see the appeal for MRVL with their small negative / even smaller positive net income and their net income margins (I prefer this to FCF for semis). At least compared t AVGO their balance sheet looks mediocre at best. The company I work for subcontracts ASICs with both AVGO and MRVL and the service, quality and execution of AVGO is far superior. On the flip side their prices are also significantly higher. If I had 10K to invest I would put it 100% on AVGO as a superior business, and I would sleep better for this (also enjoy the dividend).
no; compute the average of the leading chip companies (just take 3 or 4) in the last 2 years and they out perform SOXL. Plus it tanks quickly when economy is bad. Not resilient

It got blasted today -11% and I imagine, based on your analysis, it may drop more this year despite AI growth.

Our bet on HBM is LRCX. Top supplier to all the memory chipmakers.

They've done an exceptional job building this business indeed, really good stuff

Great insight. I own both as long term holds

So in few words, which one is better Broadcom (i own it) or Marvell?

Would love to hear about MU from you 🙂
Hey there, we did do this write-up that published yesterday: www.fool.com/investing/2024/03/25/micron-sold-high-bandwidth-memory-nvidia/
@@chipstockinvestor Nice.
Mrvl's outlook is disastrous, miss 50%,they really should thank the ASIC exuberance where there is really no hard number but 'imagination'😅

Hi, thanks for all your great content. Could you please do an up date on NVTS? Thank you
We're sorry, but our view has not changed since the update we did last year. This isn't one that meets our investment criteria at this time.
Thats good info 👍

@@chipstockinvestor I sure hope so! I’m riding Marvell out for at least the next 5 years.
Post again soon ❤👍
this is why i trade and hardly invest. maybe pltr though
