I still have head coach 09, it was a cool concept, wish they would've expanded on it a little more instead dropping it after only 2 games, I thought it was more enjoyable than madden franchise mode

I loved it. If you didn't enjoy it, fine. However, I don't see the need to bash it. It was a welcome addition of depth, something Madden deserved and BADLY needs now.
Agreed. I'm playing a career now on 09. Actually my third attempt at one. The most frustrating thing for me has been the on field play. I have never fumbled playing Madden nearly as much as the players in HC 09 fumble. And no spiking the football or calling audibles.

We need season mode (just play games) head coach mode (all the decisions without playing game and a better version of our current franchise mode (combination)
I remember renting the original HC game from my local video store back when it came out. It was unique, an interesting take. Definitely something for folks who liked the Madden franchise modes and such. But the fact that there were only 2 games of it show the popularity wasn't there.
There was a LOT of sitting around doing nothing in the 06 version and many people didn't make it through the first pre-season...which is a pity because the game got really really good after that part
Except when Long time established head coaches becomes a Coordinator. I personally think each game had its quirks, if they would have combined them it would be awesome
I love this game still will boot up my 360 to play it from time to time. Also loved the OG head coach game even if it loved to crash a lot. When I played the older maddens I never liked to actually play them I seemed them playing the mini camp and building rosters that’s it
When this came out though I loved it so much because it was more about strategy then I don’t know lazy gameplay that never felt right. This game helped you understand cap room and showed how much players actually took up compared to madden I never tried for the most part did no cap. The draft and scouting even better in this game they could add something like this is madden nowadays but they don’t if it can’t make them a butt load and they can’t milk it they don’t want it.
The reason why NFL 25 was an improvement is because one of the lead designers for HC09 (Josh Looman) worked on breathing new life to the Madden franchise when he was brought on for NFL 25.
Just bring back create plays for franchise mode. Heck even make a competitive mode out of it and see who the best is. I just want to actually design an actual NFL offense with completely new concepts. It would be awesome
Nfl head coach oddly easy game i would always win even with a terrible team if you make your own plays mostly make bliz defense play almost lost one game but other then that always win something funny is even those i would win games their would be one person in the staff for some weird reason would hate me at the end of the season would end up letting them go
@@phatmartyplays332 I dont know if you tried to keep doing that, but after a game a two they start to playcall around that because it''ll show up in your playcall history
yeah thats why they have a cult like following unlinke any madden... and why they inspired the entire modern maddens (player archetypes, among other things)

started emulating the first game on my pc, it’s sooo in-depth, it’s exactly what i want a la OOTP baseball and FM.

I did like the Player skills aspect of the series, in that they were quite variable from week to week, and could be coached up.
I got both but preferred the 1st head coach game wayyyyy more.

Loved HC....One thing that was horrible was AI...Oppenents still made bad traders,Draft picks and so on...

Yep I just won my first game 41-3 while running the same repetitive plays all game somehow to CPU didn’t notice
