    You get to influence a lot of people now. Even though your channel isn't the biggest, you have a "niche" community and in my opinion a responsability to really well inform people about the vibe, and filter people you think wouldn't fit in that beautifully growing community. There is a place for anyone and everyone in this country!

      Thanks for watching Julie!
      We feel a responsibility to be authentic, share our honest perspectives and live the values we believe in! Hopefully that’s what comes across the screen! Ecuador isn’t for everybody. Vilcabamba definitely isn’t for everybody.
      We truly believe it IS a special place for those that feel that “vibe”. ❤️ 🙏

      Yes, maybe it wasn't clear in the original post but I feel you care about filter people over selling properties, and that feeling of loyalty is serving you well apparently.

      Right on! We want the best for people, and want to show them what life is truly like here… and the rest is up to the individual! We attempt to explain the pluses and minuses so that folks know how they may or may not thrive here. So happy to hear that you experience it that way! Thanks for the support! ❤️ 🙏

    That was my reason for taking the "Variante" route over the hump, a way of avoiding the traffic stop at the town gate. I had a Chinese moto and I did my best to make it legal but the computer in Loja was always broken at the appropriate office. So, living on via Cocanama bajo not far from the start of that sendaro (path) I often went that way to get to the village. I recently tried an electric bike, what Carl was riding. It was nice and did the job....helped on the hills....but. As long as I can, I should walk. I am 78 years old in April. Going to town from my house walking around and returning might add up to two miles. Good exercise. Living here you don't need a stairmaster....just stairs ( I am on the 2nd floor) and a walk to town and back most days. A walk along the river now and then. Its a healthy place if you keep things basic and make a lifestyle appropriate to the valley. Check it out. You might like our little town.

    I keep reading about all the break ins in that area. And seeing so many homes being put up for sale and people splitting. I really love the Vilcabamba area but as a single retiree i worry about living on a piece of land outside city.

    • @AbundantLivingEcuador
      @AbundantLivingEcuador  6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for watching! Have you visited Vilca before? If not, it’s not really a city. It’s a small town, maybe 7k people or so. The entire “downtown” is only approximately 8 blocks by 6 blocks. There are definitely steps to take as a single retiree, specifically getting to know your neighbors and employing basic security measures.
      The real estate market here is not like the US or Canada… much less velocity. There aren’t booms and busts like we experience in the west. It’s more like “slow and slower”… which can characterize many aspects of life here! 🤣 That all said, there are single retirees that live here, many for years and years.
      That said, Vilcabamba isn’t for everybody. It really isn’t for most people. I’d recommend visiting for a period of time to experience for yourself first hand. Reach out with any specific questions and we’re happy to help where we can: info@abecuador.com

    For someone with young children what are the kind of options available in terms of education besides homeschooling in vilcabamba?

    • @AbundantLivingEcuador
      @AbundantLivingEcuador  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It really depends on what you’re looking for and how old your children are. There are public schools, alternative schools and nature clubs/schools for younger children in Vilca. There are private schools and international schools in Loja and Cuenca. Homeschooling is also prevalent. Many expats combine different options together. Hope that helps! If you have more specific questions, send us a note to info@abecuador.com 🙏
