Cute elephant babies having a nap while mother is guarding the herd - Kruger Park

Small herd of elephants was filmed in Kruger Park at Ngotso waterhole on the H1- 4 near S147 turnoff.
Babies is having a nap while mother is guarding the small group - always watching and protecting the herd.
The temperature was quite hot and they were tired after walking a long way to quence their thirst.
Baby elephants are always so cute 😀

Elephants can determine the chemical makeup of plants from the hairs around the end if their trunk and which should and should not be eaten. They are incredible beings.

Yes, they can get nervous with babies sleeping on the ground. The mom constantly had her trunk up smelling the air. One of them had their trunk up later as well. As they have very good sense of smell, it looks like they might have picked up scent from other animals so the mom woke up the babies and perhaps led them the opposite direction of where the scent was coming from.
