  • What's inside an automatic choke of dellorto carburettor (PHVA or PHVB).
    The choke works at around 12V. Max consumption in the first few seconds drops from 2A to 0.6 A and then gradually goes down to 0.2A, where it stays. The needle extends to max 8mm and it took it around 5-10mins.
    Another nice video demonstrating the operation: • GY6 Enricher / Automat...

    • @radconserv68

      I would think that without any power to it, it would allow the maximum amount of fuel to flow and once the engine heats up, because it has no power to it, it will still allow the max fuel and make the scooter run poorly. I don't know that for sure, but that's my opinion.

      @@radconserv68 The one on my 125 Malaguti Madison was Japanese cost around £130 + U.K. the standard carburettor on the standard fitted Yamaha engine was also made in Japan & cost £500 + .So £130+ for one of these units is hardly cheap ,especially as they can go wrong just as fast & cause you loads of hassles with multiple engine cut outs & poor running .It’s no problem to use a manual choke .Automatics were designed for lazy car drivers & women who thought the old pull out choke levers were to hang their hand bags on .

    Hi, just a questio if this was working or broken auto choke, as i can see that in the video this choke is fully extended, and it is not retracted in cold condition. I also have this problem as this needle is not retracting back in 1st position.

    one question , if the automatic choke isn't good does the scooter start up?

    • @chavylevy7355
      @chavylevy7355  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not a specialist so I don't know the types of failure for the automatic choke. But if...
      A) it fails to extend this should not prevent you from starting your scooter - it would just mean that you will be wasting fuel.
      B) it it fails in extended position this may not allow you to start the scooter - i.e. choke is constantly off.
      However, if your scooter does not start most probably the problem is somewhere else:)

    • @elisgrahn6768
      @elisgrahn6768 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      chavdar levkov If the choke is always on it doesn’t just mean that you are wasting fuel, it can also make the scooter die from too much fuel.

    • @attilahermann6034
      @attilahermann6034 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope...thats why automatic...if its stuck seems yours like mine "on" so you need to replace it...its like £12...otherwork around to either put a inline fueltap like manual choke or just closed the supply tho it will make cold start difficult....mine has hot start problem...what I do is when I having problem to start hot is remove the fuel line and close both end..so its not supply extra fuel atm but only just the first start hard and then we good...on cilder days just reconnect it...annoying but better than taking the bus.

    Hi man. Everytime i turn on my scooter cold first thing in the morning, i have to let it warm up for like 5-10mins and can't drive it straight away becausenit will bog on 1/2-full throttle. Weird thing is when if it is warmed up, mo jogs and runs fine. Could it be auto choke is faulty?

    • @chavylevy7355
      @chavylevy7355  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds plausible. After all a choke is supposed to "fix" the mix while the engine is cold. Sounds yours is not working too well. But you know, there could be other explanations too:)
