One of the best movie scenes ever filmed. I get emotional every time when Brian appears and then walks onto the stage. Everything about this movie is perfection.
Soooo happy I’ve found film on Amazon prime video - one of the best uk films ever Wiv great actors n amazing soundtrack! Just love “flame still burns’ ❤❤❤
This song is amazing, from a great movie...with an awesome soundtrack to boot. The whole thing is just the perfect combination of comedy, emotion, romance...
Written by Mick Jones from Foreigner and Chris Difford from Squeeze providing lyrics (which he won an Ivor Norvello award for) Foreigner released an amended lyrics version in 2016 for their 40th Anniversary Album, released as a single but didn't chart. This version appeared an the Album of the film sound track which most of the cast actually played on the album, supported by various other musicians.....
i may be a guy, i maybe 25 but every time i see Brian coming out on the stage i just cry my eyes out :) excellent movie i´d go as fas as saying it´s the best movie ever :)
Discovered this movie about 6 years ago when I had a newborn and was up nights watching obscure tv channels! Fell in love with the movie and spent years trying to track a copy down. Finally got it - one of my favourite movies of all time, and this final scene gives me goosebumps every time I watch it. Awesome song!!!
Rock-and-roll as "old-age antidote" ! Ironically and tenderly this movie deals with the efforts and difficulties of a rock band members who haven't spoken to each other for twenty years and have now to seize again the enchantment of music and the missed opportunities. Will they manage not to let this new opportunity slip ? Great rock for a "little", but "heartfelt" movie !
I often forget about this film then suddenly I will remember something about it. A joke, a song or some small reminder and bam! I remember it again and have the urge to sit down quietly and enjoy this hidden forgotten gem of film
This is just so amazing that so many all over the world, are here talking to each other about this very important work and face so many hardships and struggles.
I absolutly love this movie it makes me emotional every time I watch it. This song esp make me think of all the fallen ROCK STRARS who can't come back.
+Stian Jensen You mean they're not? Damn, I'm crushed. :( Seriously though, love this film and this song from start to finish. And yeah, what a shame it wasn't a real band. Better than a lot of the cack that comes out now.
Stian Jensen I was mate but I still feel sad that they aren't a real band. The movie is a classic in my opinion and soundtrack to this film is awesome.
Still get gooseys listening to this, Bill Nighy, Bruce (Mr gorgeous)Robinson, Jimmy Naill, Billy Connelly, fabulous, fabulous. Great movie (franks wife posted this)
A very charming, funny & brutally honest film; an unpretentious take on the mercenary Music Bizz; the disillusionment of faded stardom, middle age realities & the search for personal perspective against the backdrop of overpowering/bittersweet memories of better days. "The Flame Still Burns" powers the climax. In this remarkable final scene, a fragile but inspired Brian finally rejoins the band to add his rich, liquid guitar to the "Forbidden" song. It is beautiful, tearful & indelibly memorable.
My favorite scene not consisting of music is most definitely "Brian, I can see you so clearly...have you got a message for me?"-- "got a gig on Saturday." What?!? Lol love it ....We wait with baited breath
Loved the film, one of my late husband's favourites along with Streets of Fire (weird but good with music by Jim Steinman). This was the song that he loved the most.
This film holds more truths about rock music than most would like to believe. Don't get between a musician and his ego, especially if they have had a sniff of success.
Written by Mick Jones of Foreigner -- that is why the song is fabulous!!!!! He is a really brilliant songwriter!!!!! (As well as one of the best rock guitarists -- ever).
I was clearing my file when I came across this song and the lyrics from an online friend of long time ago and I remembered him singing this on the phone. I really liked it. He sent it to me on TH-cam and I could not believe that I kept it. So I googled it and here I am learning that there was such a movie and the band was not a real band. This song and the lyrics, amazing! I cannot believe that I had forgotten about it and have not played it for so long.
a wonderful movie my all time favourite well not quiet but in top 5 all,the music was written for the movie and its great and most of it performed by the stars!!!! superb
I've seen this movie so many many times and this scene gets you right in the feels every single time. Fantastic cast, script and music. It's one of my favourite movies of all time.
@CaffeLatze This is one of those under-rated Great movies! I actually just ordered a copy of it off of ebay for like 2 bucks. Can't wait to get it! I used to have it like 12 years ago and I have NO idea what happened to it.
This IS one of my favorite movies - bcos of the songs!! It has it all. And yes, I still bubble a alittle when they're trying to get Brian back to the band and he turns down. And yes, I still get goozebumps when he enter the stage playing the beautiful, beautiful solo and all around shows that he has been missed... Just love it!!!!!!! Sad though I cant find the music on Spotify :(
Every once in a while a fantastic awe inspiring film comes along like still crazy, not always a huge box office success or well recieved by critics, but one of those films you can just watch over and over again and fills your heart. Sadly its been more than quite a while since the last one I can think of.
I have to agree with you. Not only that it is inspiring, it is real. Real emotions, real people, the struggles are so very real too! Bill totally rocked it! 🤘
F-ing Fantastic!!! I love this movie and wish everyone could experience it. I love this song and wish I could find the movie version, although Jimmy Nails' solo is still great.
this is a fabulous film but always makes me sad thinking about when I was young and the lead singer of a great band in the eighties, Jimmy Nail what a voice
