I can’t wait to see how the cocktail turns out. Love the begin of this one with you guys sipping the dram.

I’m with Aaron the allspice dram is amazing by itself. I have found many recipes to use it in. Being so potent a little goes a long way. One of my favourites is the three dots and a dash.
    Three Dots and a Dash
1.5 oz (45ml) Amber Martinique Rhum or white rum
    ½ oz (15ml) Demerara Rum
½ oz (15ml) Fresh Lime Juice
½ oz (15ml) Fresh Orange Juice
    ½ oz (15ml) Honey Syrup
    ¼ oz (7.5ml) Falernum
    ¼ oz (7.5ml) Allspice/pimento Dram

I guess I'll have to put Three Dots and a Dash on my ever-growing to-do list. Thanks for the suggestion Stephane. Cheers!

If you get, or make, pimento dram, you've got to make the ancient mariner, it may be the best tiki cocktail ever!

I just infused my honey with orange blossom water which isn't hard to find. My first batch was all lumpy and separated like his and that affected the consistency of the Pearl Diver. So for my second batch I microwaved the butter for a few seconds. it came out smooth and creamy.

I microwave my gardenia mix first then make my drink. I dry flash with the gardenia mix for 20 seconds then I add ice and flash blend for another 20. I still get the milk fat but this drink slaps hard as fcuk.

I live in Maine, one of the US states that border Canada in the northeast, near Quebec, and Nova Scotia. There’s a company the next state south from my state in New Hampshire, they have a TH-cam channel as well called Common Man Cocktails. On their website they sell all these wierd tiki mixes, I just received a bottle of gardenia mix from them. You should check them out, it’s easier for sure but you don’t get the satisfaction that you’ve had from making all this yourself, but for purposes of your channel it definitely would make things easier lol. Great job by the way, phenomenal detailed instructions and will be my go to if I ever want to make this myself. Big fan of your content, love your personality, definitely feel like I could hang out and get hammered with you and have some awesome conversations

Common Man Cocktails is great. We’re currently working on some merch as well so you’ll have to stay tuned for that. Buying is always an easier option for sure but I do love my getting my hands dirty! Ha. Thanks for tuning in and keep checking back. Cheers!

Can confirm my home-made dram tastes amazing on vanilla, butter pecan and rum raisin ice cream. Also try the combination of dram and Bumbu rum in a vanilla shake (I had it in a vanilla Frosty from Wendy's) it'll knock your socks off! Go light on the rum n' dram or else it'll overpower the ice cream.

If it calls for orange blossom honey, could you perhaps throw a couple drops of orange blossom water in it?

    • @BarTalkCocktails
      @BarTalkCocktails  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

That's a marvellous idea. You could also try a couple of drops of orange bitters. Cheers!

  • @silverfiste

could try a double boiler to soften up the honey and butter before/while mixing

J F good idea I think just a bowl of hot tap water to sit the bowl in would work. Melting the butter to much might make it separate.

Just had a though here. Would the gardenia mix be perfect in a hot buttered rum? A spoonful of it with 2 oz rum 6oz hot water. Flavour!!! Heck can use non clarified butter.... oh so trying it this coming winter

A Couple of sips! That bottle was full when we last departed and now we're down a cup.. If you go to Chef Jeanne-Pierre on TH-cam, he shows you how to make the clarified-butter. You can make the butter while waiting on all of this goodness to marinate.. I've spent more time and bought more ingredients watching Bruce than watching Chef JP this week..
