This is their signature song, along with "I Wanna Rock". Released in 1984. They had a hard-core following even before they had a record deal. The father is played by an actor who is famous for being in the movie Animal House.
Thanks for your reaction. You're right--big fluffy hair like that definitely comes from the 80's--many memories for me when I was still in high school. TS also did stay hungry around the same time, that was also very popular in the mid-80's. Have a nice day, Bisscute.

They dressed in drag, performed hard rock music and built a huge local following by the late 70's... but went through a few members. Dee Snider (vocals) joined in 1976 and was an instantly recognizable frontman... Jay Jay French (guitar) was the band's founding member since 1973... By 1982, the band featured Mark Mendoza (bass), Eddie Ojeda (guitar) & A.J. Pero (drums). Twisted Sister was given an opportunity to record and tour the UK in 1982... they recorded their debut album 'Under the blade', but the label shut down soon after. They signed w/ Atlantic records in 1983 and released "You can't stop rock n' roll" and built a following in Europe... MTV broke them big in 1984 w/ the album 'Stay hungry'... but their fame attracted a new audience that made Twisted Sister a 'pop' phenomenon... Their 1985 album 'Come out and play' was a commercial failure w/ their hardcore fans disillusioned... They released their last studio album 'Love is for suckers' in 1987 before Dee Snider quit the band and ended Twisted Sister. Dee Snider tried to start a new band Widowmaker, but no one was interested in the 90's... Thankfully, he was able to start a career as a radio DJ and built himself up as a solo performer. Twisted Sister was an American heavy metal band formed in 1972, originally from Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey, and later based on Long Island, New York. Their best-known songs include "We're Not Gonna Take It" and "I Wanna Rock", both of which were associated with music videos noted for their sense of slapstick humor
This was their biggest song. I Wanna Rock (the song the kid was playing in his room) would be their next big hit, but it didn't quite have the same chart success. We're Not Gonna Take It peaked at #21 on the Hot 100 and #7 on the US Rock Charts, while I Wanna Rock peaked at #68/#35...both singles came out in 1984.
We all loved this one and it was a jam, back in the day. Still watchin and loving you, Bisscute. Take it easy. Shoutout from your guy in the States. Much peace and lots of love. Later, doll.
The Father ("Douglas C.") is a reprising role of "Douglas C. Neidermeyer" from a Great 80's Comedy called "Animal House".. you should react to it someday! They even use many of his tag lines from the Movie!
I was on a plane a few years ago coming home from Las Vegas and lead singer Dee Snider was on my plane. I spoke to him at baggage claim. He was extremely friendly and told me about some new projects he was working on.
One of the top 3 live bands I've ever seen. Because of the 'image' they didn't get the credit they deserved for the actual musicianship. Remember seeing them in Edinburgh in 1986 and they were absolutely brilliant. Spent 10 years playing the bar circuit in NY and NJ before they were 'discovered' and were tight as hell. Worth catching some of Mark Mendoza, the bass player's, stuff with the Dictators as well.
I saw these guys in concert with The Mammas Boys. It was one of those shows that I just kind of ended up at and it ended up being great. They took the roof off for sure.
I was eleven when this came out, and I can still recite the Dad's rant verbatim. Such an 80's Metal Classic, and an anthem for the ages. 🤘✊ Fun Fact: The Dad is played by Mark Metcalf, who also played The Master on Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
Thank you so much for your vedios for sure God did bless you for making people smile and brightening up a room your to precious the expressions you make on your face are so cute and I love your accent
This was their breakout hit that put them on the map. Their follow up hit was a banger. I was the song that “The Kid” was listening to when his father burst into the room! It’s called (aptly enough)” I Wanna Rock”😆😜🤟🎸✌️🫶
This is such a cool anthem! I am glad that you got to react to Twisted Sister! I would like to recommend their song "The Price" to you - official video (for the fun of it) again! Greetings from somewhere in Germany to somewhere in Germany! ;-)
Thank you for reacting to this group and music video! You reaction is, as always, perfect. The year: I believe you´re right about the 80:s, I believe this song was released 1984, I could be wrong.
The dad in this video is played by Mark Metcalf. This is pretty much the same character, Neidermeyer, (and dialogue) he played in National Lampoon's Animal House. (He also would play a vampire called the Master in Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel while playing a orchestra conductor who preferred to be called Maestro on Seinfeld)
The father is a character from an American comedy classic. "Douglas C. Neidermier" was such a humongous pr!ck in "Animal House", and he gets his come comeuppance all the time. I've seen this video a million times, I've seen Animal House a million times. That said, wow he's abusive. I'm 55, that kind of abuse was just kind of Tuesday for so many of us back then. My Parents lived through "The Great Depression" and WW2, I'm sure they had their share of trauma that was just suppressed. Sorry to take it there, but the look on your face while I was having happy memories kind of kind of punched me right in the guts. It's all good, that character is a real sonofab* no doubt about it, but he just gets abused in the movie as well. It's pretty hardcore slapstick comedy, "Animal House" may be triggering in 2023, let me count the ways: - statutory grape - University President's Wife is a drunken mess who hooks up with University students - Criminal voyeurism - Racism - Alcohol & drug abuse - Rampant misogyny - The wrong f'ing way to go to College - Virtually everyone in the everyone in the movie is some kind of a-hole But at the time it was made, and the time in which it takes place it worked. The Students of Delta House were all avoiding Vietnam and living like their lives could be over soon. This was really part of a new movement in American comedy that had slowly started in the 1950's or so. Comedians were being arrested for using foul language. By the time "Animal House" came out, the counter-culture that had protested the Vietnam War and fought for Civil Rights (at a time you might die doing so) were in control of a lot of big companies (Apple for one). Their "gallows humor" was pretty widely accepted, as the the U.S. had recently left Vietnam. A lot of hurt people back then. That generation wasn't buying a lot of the propaganda we learn in school, because they were having more and varying experiences providing them with an alternative viewpoint on some issues. Sorry for blathering, context was needed.
ESTE TEMA ..... ES UN CLASICO DE LOS 80s ...... ES COMO EL DESPERTAR DE QUIENES ESTAVAMOS DORMIDOS ...... POR EL PODER DE LOS PADRES ..... " SOLO QUEREMOS ROCK Y NUESTRA VIDA "
The dad, in the beginning, is the actor who played the character Lieutenant Neidemier in the movie Animal House. He's playing Neidemier again here as an alternate reality thing b/c Neidemier got fragged(killed) by his own men in Vietnam. One of the classic lines in Animal House from Neidemier was "A pledge pin, on your UNIFORM!! You have to watch Animal House to get it, but this video was released in the 80's after, literally, every kid in the States has seen Animal House. Fun Stuff, good movie too.
The character of the father is a reprise of the the younger version in a movie called Animal House. Its inclusion was an Easter eggs for those remembered the movie...same actor as well
The lead singer is Dee Snider and the father was played by Mark Metcalf, famous for his role in the movie Animal House. This was I believe 1983. I was 10 at the time and this was one of the first 45 records I bought and was the first metal album I bought with my own money. Another song of theirs with the same message is "I am, I'm me" which is also a great song. Several years back they did an album of classic Christmas songs in the Twisted Sister style and it is so cool. Itis titled "A twisted Christmas." Check out their version of "Oh Come All ye Faithful"
I met Dee Snider in 2006 at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally when he was picking up his custom chopper at Black Hills H-D. It was a fun rally (aside from a flare up between the Hells Angels and Outlaws). I met a lot of interesting people there in addition Dee, including G. Gordon Liddy (of Watergate infamy), Jessi Combs (RIP), and the serving Postmaster General of the US.
When it comes to rock songs I think this one is a lot of fun. It’s upbeat, and the chorus is like a classic chant. I agree the hair + makeup are overboard, though that was the norm then. (I was only a kid but have seen plenty of crazy band photos.) And yeah, it’s a good idea to go with full-length versions of songs, because sometimes an edit will cut out a lot of good parts.
I saw them in 1983. It was on a school night so there were only about 2500 people there but they played anyways. BTW they were opening up for Iron Maiden. It was needless to say an awesome concert
According to the lead singer Dee Snider the inspiration for the video was loony tunes cartoons. The actor that played the dad was playing a version of the character he played in the movie “animal house”.
Part of the appeal of the cinematic intro of the video, in case you aren't familiar with it, is that the Dad is played by Mark Metcalf who is reprising his famous role / dialog from the hit movie Animal House (1978). This song is representative of the band & is one of the best known songs, other great song from them are You Can't Stop Rock N Roll. I Wanna Rock, SMF, The Price.
If you pay attention to the beginning of this video, you'll see the suggestion of the next song to react to: "I wanna rock". It's a natural choice, after this reaction, and its official music video is a must-see one! The third great TS's hit is "You can't stop rock'n roll".
The dad is played by the same guy that played Doug Neidermeyer in National Lampoon's Animal House and he also plays a teacher in their video for I Wanna Rock.
Good Luck getting "We're Not Going to Take It" out of your head!!!!!! My friends and I went to a local bar and these guys happened to be there (around 1980 I think, give or take a year or two) they were dressed in pink and we left after a beer or two. (not our type of music then) I did love there later stuff when signed to a major label.
Alice Cooper- "Schools Out", "No More Mr. Nice Guy", "Billion Dollar Babies", "Welcome to my Nightmare", "Only Women Bleed".....Etc. and to mark his escape from Alcoholism after so many years, "How You Gonna See Me Now"-from the Inside! Take your pick, they are All Good, seriously
Twisted Sister according to him on his radio show The House of Hair was "An overnight success (10 years in the making)." As in it was 10 years of hard local Mid-West USA touring and making music when they suddenly found the formula and became stars and topped the charts. Not everyone breaks into the limelight right away. By the Way breaking news last night Singer/Actor from the 70s to the 90s Kris Kristofferson passed away this weekend. End of September,2024. R.I.P.
If you look at history, congress was trying to put restrictions on rock music. There is a video on TH-cam of this lead singer going to congress and answering questions. This song was about that time period.
Hello again Biss! Glad you listened to Twisted Sisters, I was in my twenties when that song became a hit. A suggestion for another Twisted Sisters song is, "You Can´t Stop Rock 'N´Roll" from 1983. Check it out. Have a nice day. 🙂

Absolutely love hearing this song at sporting events. I definitely recommend I Wanna Rock. Great reaction Biss ❤🤘🎸
One of my earliest memories is singing along with this song. It was my favorite song when I was 3-4 😊
Such a great classic!!!
Love Twisted Sister!!!
They Rock!
One of my favorite ❤
Thank you 😊
Fun fact,
The melody was inspired by the Christmas Carol "O Come all ye faithful"
And even more fun fact, Twisted sister also perform that song.
We all loved this one and it was a jam, back in the day. Still watchin and loving you, Bisscute. Take it easy. Shoutout from your guy in the States. Much peace and lots of love. Later, doll.
Great reaction. I had never seen the extended version before. Thanks for that.
This is the song you listen to when you are P.O’d! Always makes you feel better!
Fun Fact: The Dad is played by Mark Metcalf, who also played The Master on Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
😂😂she gonna rock out on this one😂😂❤❤
This is such a cool anthem! I am glad that you got to react to Twisted Sister! I would like to recommend their song "The Price" to you - official video (for the fun of it) again! Greetings from somewhere in Germany to somewhere in Germany! ;-)
the price is one of the band's best songs
Thank you for reacting to this group and music video! You reaction is, as always, perfect.
The year: I believe you´re right about the 80:s, I believe this song was released 1984, I could be wrong.
The 80's summed up in one Music Video
Absolutely loved this iconic Twisted Sister classic! Rock on! 🤘🎶 #FirstTimeReaction #RockMusic #TwistedSister
Good times !!! This song was a favorite of mine when I was a kid. 80s kid
The dad at the beginning is reprising his performance from the film Animal House
It's pretty hardcore slapstick comedy, "Animal House" may be triggering in 2023, let me count the ways:
- statutory grape
- University President's Wife is a drunken mess who hooks up with University students
- Criminal voyeurism
- Racism
- Alcohol & drug abuse
- Rampant misogyny
- The wrong f'ing way to go to College
- Virtually everyone in the everyone in the movie is some kind of a-hole
But at the time it was made, and the time in which it takes place it worked.
Много эмоций. Много музыки. Человек забыл где дверь. Забавно. Великолепная ведущая великолепно расставила все точки над И !❤💃
Takes me back to my childhood days. "Under the Blade" is still a great album
I carried an M16, you carry that electric twanger!
Its inclusion was an Easter eggs for those remembered the movie...same actor as well
"No son of mine is going to be a Goofy Goober!!!", I imagine the dad saying. 😆
Definitely I Wanna Rock! And Korn Clown.
Love your laugh😂 Cute
When it comes to rock songs I think this one is a lot of fun. It’s upbeat, and the chorus is like a classic chant. I agree the hair + makeup are overboard, though that was the norm then. (I was only a kid but have seen plenty of crazy band photos.) And yeah, it’s a good idea to go with full-length versions of songs, because sometimes an edit will cut out a lot of good parts.
Whoever invented off the shoulder dresses is a fucking genius
I saw them in 1983. It was on a school night so there were only about 2500 people there but they played anyways. BTW they were opening up for Iron Maiden. It was needless to say an awesome concert
According to the lead singer Dee Snider the inspiration for the video was loony tunes cartoons. The actor that played the dad was playing a version of the character he played in the movie “animal house”.
One of my favourite vocalists!
Back in the day when MTV was king....I wanna rock is another great TS song/video....this is the anthem to my generation (Gen X)
1970s great show every night. It was a goof on animal house movie. TFS
The drummer did a step by step double bass drumming course on VHS and CDs years ago FYI
If you pay attention to the beginning of this video, you'll see the suggestion of the next song to react to: "I wanna rock". It's a natural choice, after this reaction, and its official music video is a must-see one! The third great TS's hit is "You can't stop rock'n roll".
The song at the beginning id " I Want to Rock" !!!! also an incredible banger!!!!
The dad is played by the same guy that played Doug Neidermeyer in National Lampoon's Animal House and he also plays a teacher in their video for I Wanna Rock.
The father in this video is based on a character from the movie “Animal House” , he was a ROTC instructor in the movie.
Great song ..great 80s band
This, hit the charts my Sr year in high-school, as a rebellious boy this was just what the Dr ordered ❤ !
Did anyone else giggle when she said "when in doubt, go for the extended version"? Im sorry it was just funny to me. Love ya Bis!
hi here from Brazil. this band is very good, I heard a lot
Im showing my age, but i was 13 when this came out. I immediately ran to the record store and bought this album.
3:25 - this is where the fun begins
Hello again Biss! Glad you listened to Twisted Sisters, I was in my twenties when that song became a hit. A suggestion for another Twisted Sisters song is, "You Can´t Stop Rock 'N´Roll" from 1983. Check it out. Have a nice day. 🙂
Straight up banger!
I love the music I grew up with. I❤ 80s and 90s
the father in the video is Mark Metcalf... he played The Master in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
He played the Master and he played THE MAESTRO in Seinfeld.
