Ask Brian or a local woodmaker, to build a folding table. Like its just 10 to 12 inches middle part when both sides (attached with hinges) drop down. Then open one side or both sides as needed. A folding door like support at the bottom that comes out and holds the top horizontally whenever you want to open. You can make the middle part larger, upto a meter would be fine.
Why don’t you put an extension of the same marble counter top that extends downwards... you could have a little ledge for keeping books and stuff and then u have a table 😊😊
