Using the ME3 soundtrack was a low blow (in all right right ways.) Between that and the commentary, tugs right at the heart strings. Especially the very end. Sadface :'( Great work!
Dwilling from Soundcloud here. Absolutely fantastic work. The choice in music set the tone and allowed for more dramatic pauses than I could put in with just voice acting, and the video was incredibly well shot. I made and uploaded the narrative around the time of the beta, and really only go back on Soundcloud when I see it on my favorites bar and remember that I made this. When I checked this time I saw about 5 links to the reddit post. I'm amazed that something I made has any popularity, I never imagined that it would be something 1,000 people would hear, let alone 22,000. I want to thank everybody for their kind words and encouragement, this is really the only thing like this I have done and looking through the comments here and on the reddit brought me to tears. I recorded on a mic that added a high pitch squeal to the background, so I had to edit that out, which I felt removed some of the depth in the voice acting. I let myself get self-conscious about that and promised myself I'd only do more when I got a better mic. Unfortunately life happened and I haven't been able to upgrade my mic, and for the past year or so I haven't had internet good enough to play the game. My mind is just blown right now and I should probably stop rambling. I added a link to this from the Soundcloud page. Again, absolutely fantastic job with the video, and thank you to everybody.
I've relistened to this audio a lot. Stereotypically I'd say something like "more than I'd like to admit" but really, no. If I knew how many times I've rewatched/relistened to this, I'd wear it as a badge of honor. Thank you so much for giving this to us. It is a gift without measure.
I don’t know how long its been since my last message home. A constant rebirth that dosent affect the mind in a physical way, even a way that’s mentally damaged, but I can feel something like a , like I'm losing something. It's nothing the doctors can pinpoint, yet its probably not caused by the machines, just ah, an after affect of not dying, of being bought back over and over. You lose some of the small things... like time. Time goes first cos a rebirthing can take seconds, minutes, hours, sometimes days. When you wake up you don’t know when you are. Eventually you stop caring, except for what season it is, and whether its day or night so you can head out with the right equipment . This kind of war, a war of immortals, it isnt right. Theres no fear of death. They’re not even training the new guys anymore. Do some physical stuff and then ship ‘em out. Whats the point of preparing a soldier to die when nobody dies. Whats the point of preparing him to kill when nobody… gets… killed. Tactics, equipment, and vehicles. Experience is lifes best teacher. With the way they’re assigning the resources it dosent matter whether some kid plows his Liberator into the ground, cos he paid for it, he’s gonna make it better in the long run. It’s not like we’re gonna run out of vehicles. That’s another part of it. The abundance. Of everything. We’re limited by a resource ration, but eventually we always get more. Then you’re right back in a tank or an aircraft. It’s just… there’s no hardship to it, there’s no worry. I remember when I first joined up I was full of fire and brimstone. I was gonna show those bastards who they were messing with. Now, truth be told, if it were'nt for the colours on my sleeve, I’d forget which team I was on. Ha ha. Team. Not empire, not government, not even faction. Team. Like this is some sort of game. Well, that’s how it is for some of us. Nobody says it, but its in their eyes. The joy of battle, the awe of a well executed attack, not because it was a step closer to victory or because it advanced our cause, but because it was a well… executed… attack. Tactics for the sake of tactics. Pure… battle… lust. Its like a drug. This is the kind of war romantics have always dreamed of. No one really dies, and everyone has a chance to play the hero. I don’t think I’m gonna be coming home. The only way I’ll see any of you again is… if you enlist, but honestly, I, I don’t think I’d recognise any of you.
As dark as it is this is basically what the story of individuals on Auraxis has been for me since the original Planetside. Thanks to who ever made the great narrative, if you see this, and thanks to you Waffle for finding this and putting it on TH-cam with a pretty backdrop.
Love the fact that you incorporated both the lore, and real life problems and events that are happening to the game. I.E. The way the resources are set up, the re birthing system ETC... awesome cinematography too.
god I love these. I can't say how much I love this game, how much I love this community (no matter the salty vets, they count too). It something I will always remember...
This is by a wide margin the most beautiful video I've seen in a long time. The descriptions of the way war works when there are no limits on funds or soldiers is deeply chilling.
are you a professionist or what? every single video you have done is great but this one....oh boy, this one is AWESOME!!! pls never stop making these videos
because of thousands of hours in planetside i feel like a veteran who went through so much....a verteran who hasnt been to war in reality ....but feels like it XD
Yeah, I made a story about this too. I like how the war never ends, but in the story I made, they all stopped fighting because they were destroying the planet, without it their respawns were useless, as there was nothing to be reborn onto. So yeah, great vid as always Waffle.
Amazing video as always!!! LOVED the script for this montage, perfectly made and the music and clips matched together like pizza dipped in ranch dressing. :P
A war of destruction A great war of pain Yet it all shall mean nothing There shall be no gain Each day nothing new Each death Pointless Without reason Without pain The horrors mean nothing We shan't feel again For life is now but a game A game that we play All things lose perspective Time seems to mean not Kill Die Respawn Kill Die Respawn A creed to remember A creed to always hate For it has taken from you Humanities grace It has taken from you Every moment Every face You shall no longer remember What came before Kill Die Respawn Then do it again
+Victrium Think about the possibillity that the 4(?) different faces of each gender are all a new soldier can choose from. You die the first time in your own body (We all know if you survive as a noob more than a minute you either not in the fight or you're pretty good) and then you get reborn in these shells that disintegrate themselves after some seconds of death. "I don't think I'll be coming home. The only way I see any of you again is if you enlist. But honestly, I don't think I would recognize any of you." And even if you best friend would fight right beside you you would probably not know. Because everyone gets a nickname they can choose and they may not loose their memory but their Identity.
Why has this and all the other incredible videos you have made been hidden and unlisted? Your masterpieces should be shared with the world. I sincerely hope this has been a mistake or there is another good reason for it, I miss all the videos I don't already have favorited :(
I would hate to be an Auraxian psychiatrist. The simple act of rebirthing probably creates the single biggest psychological impact within the game world. Humans were not meant to be immortal. Death itself could almost be considered a defense mechanism, since true immortality could lead to complete and total apathy, bloodlust, despair, or even boredom. I'll be honest. if somebody had a way to give me complete immortality, I'd fight against it with every fiber of my being. On FanFiction.net, there's a fic called Death of a Kage Bunshin. In the fic, Naruto states that those who have died should be envied, while the living know nothing but suffering. This has stayed with me ever since I first read it, and it has, in a way, shaped my outlook on life. It has made me ascribe a greater significance upon the small things, while forgiving the large blunders. I still think that the US government doesn't even have the collective intelligence of a gnat, but that's neither here nor there...
+douglas “Ansury” wahid You say that...but the emptiness...the pointlessness...it gets to you. Women, war, social, LIFE ...it will eventually bore you.
I love this so much it shows me how anything no mater where it comes from can be so deep and emotional. Also can anyone just feel Burnie Burns (church rvb) in this piece at the end of the recollection.
Jesus that shot at 2:03 was awesome, amongst a video already made up of amazing footage. Good idea to combine the dialogue with the music. I have a lot to learn from these types of videos.
Unfortunately it makes you wish they commissioned something like this about a couple of months into the game release because this would really interest quite a few people. You saw what a lot of us did and put it into video, for that you are a genius Waffle. I questioned myself during the days on Cyssor when we fought tooth, nail, blade and laser for every base...even now I did (until design structure flaws in the game finally put me off on PS2)
Using the ME3 soundtrack was a low blow (in all right right ways.) Between that and the commentary, tugs right at the heart strings. Especially the very end. Sadface :'( Great work!
Wrel :)
holy shit, didnt see that till you pointed it out

I thought it sounded fucking fine. I've listened (and read) this a few times now and it's still as intense as the first time i typed it out.
You should be in a movie tbh
I just want to say that in less than 4 Minutes you made better lore than any PS2 dev team ever did.
I've relistened to this audio a lot. Stereotypically I'd say something like "more than I'd like to admit" but really, no. If I knew how many times I've rewatched/relistened to this, I'd wear it as a badge of honor. Thank you so much for giving this to us. It is a gift without measure.

Really thought the narration was from a movie, until I heard the word "Liberator". Great Work!
Only Vets can understand what this video is about, we fight not because we have to, not because we want to…Its because we are made to.
One of the best Planetside Videos ever made, i still come back from time to time.
I've always said Planetside is grimdark, major props go to you for making a video that properly hammers home the reality of that.
"Only way to win this war is not to fight it."
Meaningless war in a nutshell.
Iraq war in a nutshell.
Cold War in a nutshell
Absolutely fantastic! You are a pro, at making such sweet waffles. The script really made this by the way, hats off.
I don't know why but I started tearing up.
I don't think that I've ever thought in my life that I would be tearing up about an MMO's story. GG mate.
+Triensi GG. (tears)
This is by a wide margin the most beautiful video I've seen in a long time. The descriptions of the way war works when there are no limits on funds or soldiers is deeply chilling.
This is so deep Adele called, wants a role in it.
Srsly. Favorite PS2 Video! Great Writing!
How this piece of art not getting at least 50k views yet is beyond me
Sets the mood well...
I had to leave auraxis for a while... but the memories.. the feeling is the same. Jenk squad will forever burn in my soul

SWEET MOTHER OF GOD.
You have ALL of my YES. You DO have an idea of the meta and potential story there is with this game. YES.
Deep... very deep.
Wow how dare you keep this as unlisted?! This is like... Planetside 2's INTRO. Or something. This is awesome, everyone needs to see it!
Dude you put your vids back up and that's all I have watched for the last 2 hours
The Mass Effect soundtrack was a great touch to the already awesome cinematic!
Woah... That sent chills down my spine.
Man, that last line...so much in it.
are you a professionist or what?
every single video you have done is great but this one....oh boy, this one is AWESOME!!!
pls never stop making these videos
That was some good voice acting.
"War does not determine who is right - only who is left."
Great video.
Even after almost 6 years this is sill my favorite PS2 Video.
because of thousands of hours in planetside i feel like a veteran who went through so much....a verteran who hasnt been to war in reality ....but feels like it XD
This deserves more views. Simply breathtaking :)
for the players/fans who watched the ps2 backstory....the rebirth program goes deep.
PERFECT 10/10 WOULD WATCH AGAIN
Amazing and mindblowing stuff you have right there, sir!
You deserve my applause and and few million subs :)
My favourite planetside 2 cinematic!
The Feels.
Yeah, I made a story about this too.
I like how the war never ends, but in the story I made, they all stopped fighting because they were destroying the planet, without it their respawns were useless, as there was nothing to be reborn onto.
So yeah, great vid as always Waffle.
This video deserve more views.
Script and sound is amazing, it really drew me in to the story.

wordless after i've watched several of these and this one is beyond amazing.
War in a post-scarcity economy. An interesting concept and definitely would like to see more about it.
*Emotions Intensify* Really good video man!
A war of destruction
A great war of pain
Yet it all shall mean nothing
There shall be no gain
Each day nothing new
Each death Pointless
Without reason
Without pain
The horrors mean nothing
We shan't feel again
For life is now but a game
A game that we play
All things lose perspective
Time seems to mean not
Kill
Die
Respawn
Kill
Die
Respawn
A creed to remember
A creed to always hate
For it has taken from you
Humanities grace
It has taken from you
Every moment
Every face
You shall no longer remember
What came before
Kill
Die
Respawn
Then do it again
Beautifully executed fridge horror. Myself, I've always kind of wondered why everybody looks and sounds the same...

That was wonderful.
No team boasting or anything.
Just a great honest video with an excellent narrative. +1000
Beautiful. :)
Absolutely stunning! To my mind, best PS2 Movie out there yet! Thank You!
that was probably the best PS2 cinematic I've seen so far... I mean damn that was good.
The mass effect theme "An End once and for all" make this sadder
this went deep. went right for the heart
The video footage and editing was good as always, but I must say, hats off for the writing and delivery of the commentary!
I don't understand why I get like 5 tears when watching this I'm not even in a real war when I play planetside
That was brilliant! Amazing narration.
That was sad and cool
Taking a stroll down liked videos 7years later and this is still in my liked videos.... AND I SEE WHY
The feels man. The feels hit hard!
Was a really good video as always!
I would hate to be an Auraxian psychiatrist.

Jadashi - Well, you could go Ascetic for a few years. You'd appreciate the things you had then.
just...just....WOW. Outstanding video. Great creativity. And the narration. Just. WOW.
So glad you're back bro.
Epic!
Anyone else getting some serious feels from this?
Damn, there's a lump in my throat haha. Brilliant work
I love this so much it shows me how anything no mater where it comes from can be so deep and emotional. Also can anyone just feel Burnie Burns (church rvb) in this piece at the end of the recollection.
I'll fight for this lost narrator's soul, over which Ps2 assumed control! I'll be the vanguard of this dude's salvation and enlightenment!
Dem Feelz...this really shows what a struggle that living forever may be to Auraxian soldiers.
Jesus that shot at 2:03 was awesome, amongst a video already made up of amazing footage. Good idea to combine the dialogue with the music. I have a lot to learn from these types of videos.
whatever you were trying to get out of this video...
i think you did it
This should honestly be an official trailer.
That was beautifully done. Kudos to you.
The Mass Effect 3 Theme made me cry...
How is this not endorsed by SOE?
This is the kind of stuff they should have been making from day1 :D
Really (really!) great stuff!
A lot of feelings, its so good
If it wasn't for the overpowered state of the TR almost all the time, I'd be playing right now because of this video.
ErgonomicChair you're kidding right? you know the TR are considered the weakest faction right?
Holly crap, thought the voice over was taken from some movie trailer for a while, absolutely epic!
Man, made me a bit teary eyed. Amazing stuff.
Try not to cry... cry a lot.
Masterpiece.
Absolutely stunning. Great work
Just fantastic, Sir you deserve 1000 thumbs up and this video to be on Planetside 2 site front page
Amazing…
Wow man, that was absolutely amazing
Best voiceover EVER!
Welcome back waffley woo!
That was super well voiced, Waffle. Good job.
I almost cry... Really, really great video!!!!!
Ahh. The Emotions.
the hell was that?
why am I crying?
Oh my god, The feels!
