Having attended 40 lectures by this great professor has been a habit to me...now back to normal...you make electrical easy to me.. So much fundaments have cleared after this...thank you sir...thank you very much..!!
I must say .. That I benefited greatly from this wonderful class (took all 40 classes).. .. Thank you prof. Umanand.. Thank you NPTEL.. The Indian goverment...and people of India... From Iraqi Kurdistan
you r realy a GURU sir..... i need this explanation really thank u sir....thank u respected sir pls give some explanation about alternator phasor dia...
I got this doubt by assuming that half of the pole pair is equal to one pole... i.e (1/2)Polepair =1 Pole......and I forgot that WITHOUT MORE THAN TWO POLES (OR EVEN NO.OF POLES) THERE IS NO CONCEPT OF POLEPAIR.
At 44:00 Sir said that active power is controlled by excitation control whereas earlier he said that excitation controls the reactive power. Kindly clarify
under no load, there is no current in stator. Therefore there will be no rotating magnetic field in stator. So under no load what is the thing which is rotating with rotor in synchronism
really nice and clear explanations. First video to watch, but for sure will continue with other ones. by the way, what kind of computer is that you are writing in?
except from 26:26-26:46,rest all lecture is very very slow paced sir, good explanation though.but my advice is to go a bit fast.thank you veru much sir!
yr plz some1 tell me that where are the next videos of this lacture series...??I mean 41st,32nd and so on..!!! and obviously ,thanx alot sir L.UManand...:)

You are a very good teacher sir. Thank you very much for sacrificing your time to help those who needed a clear explanation.
Um writing my Power Engineering Exam 2mrw and your lectures have been of great help thank you very much
This man is good.. Hands down. Phasors always makes things easy to understand.
Thank you for the great presentation. It was very easy to follow, for someone who's barely been in touch with AC machines before.
Thanks for your great explanation.
Simple, intuitive, and with no need to complicate things with awful equations.
Greets from Santiago,Chile
Thank you Prof. L.Umanand!🙏
Really thanking you sir...........its too much easy to become an electrical engineer only bcoz of u sir.......
Such a good lecture. Don't know why I even bothered attending lectures when your lectures are available.
Very good lecture, I wish he had a more detailed lecture like Induction motor , Yet thank you so much
in 23:22 you had forgoten to devide with 2pi in equation of synchronous speed thank you for all these lessons
ur lecture is good and explained how synchronous motor is used as pf correction machine
Thank you Sir your lecture has been of great help to me GOD bless you
sir, please upload lecture of synchronous machine after lecture 40
Please dont delete this videos ever.... Please....
thanks very much for the added value, i really enjoyed this class.
Thank You so much for posting; These lectures are very helpful
Awesome. Seems a cake walk now for an electronics engg like me..thanx a lot sir.:)
sir you are great teacher .
nptel please upload a full series of lectures on synchronous machines by Prof. L. umanand
Really excellent lecture and professor
I am really grateful to you sir and as well as uploader
thank u very much sir.....its really of great help to me..
thankyou sir for the lecture.it has helped us a lot.
thank you sir. iam really grateful for you give me the basic knowlage of electrical subjects.please give the knowlage of power system also. thank you.
thanking you sir really u made me under stand i am 39 yrs old
wow!!!!!!It was nice. I really enjoyed watching it.
you r realy a GURU sir.....
i need this explanation really
thank u sir....thank u
respected sir
pls give some explanation about alternator phasor dia...
very good lecture sir........ please upload a lecture on different characteristic curves of various machines...
thank you so much..i clearly understood the concept
Sir please check...the rotor induced the polarity of North and South gets reversed as u directed...
THANK YOU SIR LOT. YOU HAVE A GOOD DEEP EXPLANATION
Sir at 22:42 1polepair(Pp) =2Poles(2P).then N=(120f/((1/2)Polepair) that equal to N=240f/polepair
Sorry sir I confused and got the final answer.
I got this doubt by assuming that half of the pole pair is equal to one pole... i.e (1/2)Polepair =1 Pole......and I forgot that WITHOUT MORE THAN TWO POLES (OR EVEN NO.OF POLES) THERE IS NO CONCEPT OF POLEPAIR.
thank you so much sir, you help me alot,
this is a great help! thank you and keep it up!
Thank you for putting this video up, much appreciated :)
air will you suggest me your video related to synchronisation by dark lamp method, one dark two bright method??
At 44:00 Sir said that active power is controlled by excitation control whereas earlier he said that excitation controls the reactive power. Kindly clarify
2:10 Suppresses a burp.
under no load, there is no current in stator. Therefore there will be no rotating magnetic field in stator. So under no load what is the thing which is rotating with rotor in synchronism
easy way to learn the concepts thanq you sirjiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
thanks very much, god bless
Sir ,Upload Full videos just Like Speed Cotrolling,Braking, etc
nptel.ac.in/courses/108106072/10
go on this link and there is pdf of synchronous machine u can learn from there
@BlackGypoMagic he means Ns or the speed of the shaft
really nice and clear explanations. First video to watch, but for sure will continue with other ones. by the way, what kind of computer is that you are writing in?
Very good video. You covered a lot of ground.
very good lectures sir :)
May God bless you for your wonderful work
Did you wrote some books for electrical machines.
Very Thanku you sir .this lecture is very useful for me.
except from 26:26-26:46,rest all lecture is very very slow paced sir, good explanation though.but my advice is to go a bit fast.thank you veru much sir!
that is a very good job..
sir teaching is very good .but we want lot a more about synchronous machines

THANKS U SIR VERY GOOD LECTURE
AND GOOD
i think it is a T5010 Lifebook of Fujitsu. I also have a same.
it helps me too much... tnx..............
At 22:35 in Ns = 120f/p p are the total number of the poles in machine , but sir has described it as poles per phase. May please this be verified
Thank u sir.sir please upload next part of synchronous machine.
good lecture
Thanks a lot sir
Need to improve video quality?

how do we say the back emf produced in synchronous motor is opposite to the applied voltage?
Simply by Lenz's Law...
thanks a lot sir...
A little bit mistake
Ns=120f/P
n= 2f/P
Can anyone tell me sir is using which tablet ?
he means Ns or shaft speed!
Thank you sir
thanks
thanku so much sir
wish i found this earlier got an exam tommorow FML
Sir please upload new classes sir please
nice...........
sir,
what happens when AC supply is given to the rotor of synchronous motor.
+Raghu Nath it will lead to introduction of double frequency component in induced voltage and uniform torque is never achieved.
why are generators connected in star
emf equation of an ac generator?
