I wouldn't rush to blame EA, they would have had a set time when they started development (after HP2010, 2 years since Black Box made The Run for 2011) so they could have just been overly ambitious

But to be honest, it it wasn't for the release of NFS MW 2012, Ghost Games wouldn't undergo the change they required to make to NFS 2015 and hopefully NFS 2017

It started as a Burnout game. Later EA changed it's mind and cut out things to make a NFS game instead. Please look at the first yellow Porsche gameplay. The licence plate is "Burnout" which was later changed to "ND4SPD" as the project changed. Poor Criterion can not made the real new Burnout with real licenced cars.

tbch, I have a love/hate relationship with MW 2012. the "singleplayer" was god awful and easy as shit, but the multiplayer......I met so many of my current PSN friends on that game, the multiplayer was great fun

By default, it's the most fun in the series, only because it is jam packed with insane action that you never get bored of which is what I liked most about the game. But looking at this cut content makes me sad because of how great the game could have been. I think it had the potential to be the best game in the series.
seeing the high tech concept art and cut content got me thinking. would a cyberpunk need for speed game work or even be a good idea, car concepts, vinyls, visual customization and environment design could be really creative though we would maybe miss out on licensed car and parts manufactures. any thoughts?
Brandon Welsh I would've been interested. Sure, may not have been NFS or so to some but i would've loved to see them take this concept a step further. Maybe they should've taken or rather, appealed for a longer development cycle so we would've seen this be reality.

I personally love NFS Most Wanted 2012, I still play it today. It's just not a true "Need for Speed" game.

NFS really needs to return to form: Progression, likable characters (with good voice actors, of course), innovative ideas, autosculpt, aerodynamics, dyno, better cops, etc.
Remember in NFSC, you could bring a crew member to ACTIVELY HELP during a race instead of being useless.
And we need better characters like Razor, Darius, Ryo, Chase, Mia, Nikki, Rachel, etc.
Because I remember very well my first time playing through NFSMW05, and having my mind blown that Mia was an undercover cop.

My god, I truly hate Most Wanted 2012. It's one of my least favorite games of all times, specially because driving the cars feels like driving a block of concrete and crashing the cars (even at 50km/h) will make you lose 2 minutes in seeing a cock sucking motherfucking hideous crash animation.

BlackPanthaa BlackBox had a year for NFSMW(2005), with bunch of leftovers from ug2, and yes EAGL3 is EAGL2, bit modified, physics engine was completely redone.
Sure BlackBox started developing NFSMW(2005) since the ug2 demo, but Criterion used the same engine used for HP(2010), but they had 2 years, keep in mind NFSMW(2005) had AI cops, racers that were challenging, and customization.

From all this info, after thinking about it for a few hours, I feel you have to give Criterion credit. I perceive originally Criterion tried to make Most Wanted 2\2012 a decent sequel to the original. Unfortunately, it seems due to time constraints and, the big boss EA, a lot of content needed to be cut and, they could have possibly felt embarrissed about the game.
I came to your channel theo after the release of rivials. I saw a lot of 2012 era videos on your channels too and, it was a sad time for us all in the NFS community. I have a great feeling the future will get better and, those who missed NFS 2015 (like myself) will all be rejuvenated by the progress EA makes with future NFS games!

I think Carbon being the technical sequel to Most Wanted played a part as to why they went the route they did
They absolutely should have stuck to the path of the NFS UG2/MW/Carbon. This game was sushi a huge mislead and disappointment. I haven't purchased a single NFS game since the 2012 flop. Seriously, fuck that game. I'm so angry that is was marketed as this amazing return to street racing, but had zero customization, zero story, zero love and spirit of the NFS MW title. And then for them to attempt at getting that back with 2015, but lazily execute game dynamics like the midnight/dawn shift occurring literally as you drive across a certain point in the road. And the laziness of how a V-10 Viper spins its tires on the perma-wet roads no more than a stock Focus...LAZY LAZY LAZY!!!! Not to mention the fact that the drift is no different than the outdated mechanics of STEERING THE WRONG FUCKING WAY i.e. NO COUNTER STEER AND THROTTLE CONTROL!!!! We have such amazing technology now. The game engines are capable of mind-blowing visuals and some pretty good physics, but damn...come on NFS. Get your shit together. I'm tired of wasting my money on these fucking let downs.

one thing i LOVED about 2012 MW was the idea that ANYWHERE could potentially be a cooldown spot. duck in an alley and shut your car off. i loved that. 2015 nfs had the same cooldown but the cooldown was so short in 2015 it was useless.

If a company does any of the following I never buy the game:
1) Use currency that you can buy with real money
2) Cut content and sell it as DLC
3) Cut storylines and narratives that people want so that they can meet deadlines and/or sell it either as DLC or a delayed sequel
EA are guilty of all of these. Why do people still play their new games. They have the cheek to sell a game called Most Wanted that had nothing to do with the original game.

What's the point of this video, first you have a click bait title, and then you basically steal a video and narrate what is already written. So basically I guess you do this in order to pay for your Lexus. Which is not a bad plan. But anyways can you make content that's actually good for once in a while, because the exposed video that dr tom made kinda made me change the way I look at you, you play forza but you don't even like the game, and you are heavily biased towards need for speed. The last good need for speed in my opinion was maybe The Run, it had an actual story, and a game without story is not a game. Like need for speed 2015 was just a shitty tv show, with shitty dialogue, put between mediocre races.

It's almost like they planned a cross between Undercover and Hot Pursuit 2012 with a storyline that builds on the old Most Wanted. Which still would've been dope.
What Need for Speed is missing right now is progression, yes Need for Speed 2015 had much more progression than Rivals, but while I played Need for Speed 2015, I could afford the most expensive car in under 2 hours.... What I really miss is the grinding of Need for Speed.
Just watched the the original video last night. I always had a hunch that EA may have been the real party to blame, it's not the first time they've rushed a dev into making a game that didn't live up to the standards of what the devs wanted and fans alike. Just look at ME3.
Alot of the stuff that was cut wasn't even anything I'd want in the game. The big thing this game needed was customization.

Ye know the hiding spot feature is still sort off in the game you just have to press the ignition button to close the car and the heat level will disappear faster than you can read this sentence. (Use the ignition when in cool down in a good place to hide)
It's interesting how they've cut Hummer out of console release, but yet the car appeared in the mobile game.
Now it makes sense as to why I didn't even bother getting halfway through the game, and then wanting to snap the disc, throw it into the trash, and have it incinerated while not feeling bad whatsoever. I absolutely hated MW 2012 and will never touch it again.
The Black Cameras could be when you pass in front of them while in a cooldown you get the police again.
I heard that they was going to keep the Most Wanted 2 build as the final game until one of the developers said "Lets make Most Wanted a lot like Burnout Paradise you know, lets cut the story line and make it a simple driving game like burnout was" And that's how we got Need For Speed Most Wanted 2012 .
Most Wanted and Carbon were the bombs. Then Undercover was the beginning of my hatred. Need For speed 2015 revived my love for the series. I can not wait for the new Need For Speed 2017.
Actually, since MW2012 had the blacklist, it technically WAS Most Wanted, but people are still stuck in 2005.
I've been playing NFS Carbon since yesterday and I'm having so much fun, more fun than I could ever have in any NFS newer than Undercover. I grew up with Underground, Underground 2, Most Wanted, Carbon, Undercover, those were the days, progression, cheesy characters, cheesy story, the great cheesy, the soundstrack and the style, all contributed a great atmosphere and awesome experience.
I kinda liked Rivals, although a much different type of racing game obviously. Also been following NFS 2015 on your channel, but eh, the game just didn't attract me enough to make me want to play it myself.
They need to realise that any new NFS is gonna be good only if they focus on story and progression which go hand in hand, pick a style which fits the story and the setting of the game, like fitting soundtrack, UI, type of races, the features of the open world.
I should be feeling like I'm playing in a story or movie, that I am part of the world the game is set in, and not in a dead/unlively environment anything past Undercover had.

Why don't they remake an old NFS game? It seems like every other game company has done a remake of an older game. A remake of Most Wanted or Carbon, or underground 2 (unlikely because it's a PS2 game not a 360 game) anyway, I would buy that in a heartbeat.

I liked MW 2012, but I agree the fact that it isn't a Need for Speed game. It's technically Burnout Paradise with real cars and cops. Though I'd much rather play a Burnout style NFS game over a broken NFS game (Rivals, I'm talking about you....)
Maybe Black Box started developing the game in like say late 2010, got shut down by EA, then EA put Criterion in charge of the development of this game?
It actually would not make sense if there was a story with the M3 GTR in it because it got impounded in Carbon. Unless they made the game kind of a prequel to Carbon...

It's sad to think that there are tons of game content files in the background that will never get implemented and not be seen by anyone. Curiosity gets spiked when you see a totally different route taken by the developers pre-release and then see another final route at the release of the game. It would've been cool to just get a taste of what the game could of been by playing the demo.
It actually made me sad. After I finished NFS Most Wanted, I was like _"Hell yea, amazing dtory ending! _*_can't wait till the sequel_*_"_ Yea well, that is a dream crushed am I right?

And what makes it worse, imo, I hated the 2012 Most Wanted, still do. Because it isn't Most Wanted. Again, imo, ut doesn't even deserve the name Most Wanted.

The Hummer H1 was on the mobile version of Most Wanted 2012, so it's not licensing issues.
The Jeep, Hummer, and C2 Corvette Stingray appeared in the mobile version of Most Wanted 2012.
NFS Most Wanted 2012 is Burnout Paradise. The changing of the street names and map on the bottom left of the screen. But it has the crashes and bit of the physics just like Hot pursuit 2010.

A very underrated game i think is the ActiVisions BLUR. I played it 3 years ago and I still consider it better than most racing games. You should definetly try it. BLUR its an action-racing game with awesome physics and it never gets boring.
its just like how UG2 was Supposed to have colored areas instead of just colors of the shops..
Whatever shit u say NFS most wanted 2012 was one of the best game I have ever played. The graphics are really good. And I recommend you to atleast try it out

NkTheGamer The problem isn't that it's bad. It ain't bad, it's good... But it doesn't deserve to be "Most Wanted 2", basically because the base is preeetty different to the original one.
It's like what Rockstar made with GTA V. It has nothing to do with it's direct predecessor (GTA San Andreas), the story base ain't even close to what it used to be in GTA SA, it's not much focused on gangs, it doesn't even has similarities with the original San Andreas map (Except for LS), but that doesn't mean it's not good. But they didn't call it GTA: San Andreas 2. Which is basically what EA did with this one
"Wasn't Carbon a direct sequel?" Omg, yes. But that was more about explaining the protagonist's back story rather than progressing him. There was no real development in the NFS universe either besides what past characters have become and Cross now being a bounty hunter. Trust me, there's a lot more that could've been done as a sequel whereas Carbon feels more like a side story.
What I would like to see is a prequel to the MW 05 and Carbon stories where you build up to the race against Angie, Wolf and Kenji.
