Knew you’d like this Gert although the cask strength will give you what you feel is missing from this one. For the money though, it’s just an easy drinker and makes me happy although perhaps nostalgia helps. This was the whisky that got me hooked! 😅
I found it much less peated than expected, but the rubber bandaid 🩹 taste I will never get used to. And at 40%… Nope. I can get the much better Ardbeg 5 for the same price at 48%. Enjoy your Laphroaig 10, I think I will pour myself a Quarter Cask instead 😜 You can not convert me to this one 😂
@@MortAllachie Baby steps mate. Ardbeg 5 is €42 here. This one is €37. That 40% is disappointing but maybe try the cs some time. Always nice to hear from you. Cheers
Laphroaig is one of my Top five favorites! I agree that the 10 is a bit thin, but it's nice when you don't want a punch in the face with smoke. My favorite in the core range is the Quarter Cask (it gives me very unique fresh hay and tea notes that I really like).
You are drinking a lot of them and loving them! I love this Laphroaig - bought a new box last night - it’s a classic - but it’s not for everyone!! Love the box versus the tin! Canada gets this Laphroaig at 43%. Not sure why. I have never been overwhelmed with the peat. $37 Euros is so unbelievably cheap! This was my second love with peat after Lagavulin. It’s definitely coloured and chill filtered and delicious!! 🤤 Terrific video Gert! You are a terrific sport!!
@@WhiskyLoversSociety The 3% does make a difference. This will always be a classic peated Islay scotch favourite for so many people who love peat! The price is worth it for the Laphroaig CS! I think it's $165 before taxes in Canada. Not sure what it will cost in your area. Definitely delicious!! The Quarter Cask Laphroaig is lovely peat!!
I think you are drinking enough peated whisky that your palette has shifted. I get a greater viscosity with the extra 3% ABV! Careful on this journey! Falling in love with scotch is dangerously alluring!
Nice. A really good idea to try again, ones taste buds changes over time. Regarding this whisky, it's quite the opposite for me....a long time ago this was one of my favorite drams, but over time and many other drams.....and imho....I find it only as a low %abv, chillfiltered and fake coloured whisky, sorry to say. A really weak version of Laphroaig. I find that the Quater Cask is much better value in every way, I recommend you try it. I totally agree with you about the PX Cask Finish...a marvellous dram. Keep up the good work 🍷cheers
@@bluesmanen1 agree the quarter cask is better. This one is definitely not a winner but it is better now than when I first tried it. Thanks for your support. Cheers
This Laphi is for kids Gert to be honest. Its just demonized for some reasoni dont get it. Laphroaig CS is for real Men but i know its step by step 😉😅🥂🥂🥂🙋♂️
@@peatbull3426 lol. Indeed. But the cs was a little bit expensive mate. But will try it in the future. Like I said in the video that 40% killed it a bit for me. Cheers mate
Just call me a Laphroaig ambassador……😂😂😂😂😂. Like share and subscribe. Share the passion. ❤❤❤❤
Thats some yummy stuff. Every pallet is diffrent. Drink what you like. Dont care about what other people think. Cheers.

Well reviewed, Gert. I've always felt it needs more ABV and more time in the cask, but it's a classic for a reason. Cheers!

Real men? lol! I’ve been drinking Laphroaig CS since I started my scotch journey.
The CS is lovely but I worry when any 40% ABV seems so weak. It’s still a lot of alcohol!🥃
