when i first saw this movie on my reccomended list on netflix i said it was aboring and dull one ..
but when i watched i just realized it was the same as my lovestory. i fell in love with my bestfriend and i know for sure he felt the same way for me but he have to choose the right path for him, and thats to marry a girl and start a family. it really hurts a lot till now and i hope just like jia han and wang po te we meet each other again and we can show how mucj we love each other without the judgement of the other ..

I just finished watching the movie and i can't move onnnnnn. Gosh this movie is really great. It teaches us a lesson; don't be afraid to say what you feel about that person because in the end, if you didn't say what you really feel you will forever regret it.

Unfortunately those days in the 80s in many countries it was still taboo. My best friend and I kept our feelings unsaid despite the physical closeness like sharing beds. He got married and I moved to a country where I can be myself. We met again a few years ago after being separated more than 35 years. We embraced and I still could feel the love, eventhough hE is happily married and has children. The film is a reflection of my secret first love. I could feel what they feel. Crying when I watched it and brought back the old memories.

I kindly have to disagree 🙏 It's a film that highlights the experience of loving someone of the same gender and having the whole world against you. You could tell in the movie that they did understand their love for one another but Birdy wanted to protect Jia Han. It's a film that shows the hypocrisy of society and shows how people can finally live as person regardless of who they love because love is love❤🧡💛💚💙💜(BTW I am queer so I do know what I'm talking about)
The line 既然決定愛上一次就一輩子 should be translated to something like “since I decided I would only fall in love once in my life”.

Im so late to this movie. Its been on my watchlist for months n finally i watch it. Such a amazing movie. I cried a lot. They love each other but they knows with the society they are in they wont be accepted. So they let go of each other hurting each other. Their phone call after being separated is so painful to watch.
And there is an extended scene of that phone call-I think for the original chinese viewing only- which makes it even more heartbreaking..😭

That was 49 years ago. I have seen my Oliver and my Jai-han twice in 49 years. Sad part, we both married and are still married with families. We started texting in 2019 and are slated to meet in September 2021.❤🙏

OMG, listening to this brings the pain I felt watching the movie. The movie is based on director's true story which explains why i really felt connected when i was watching it. The scenes are powerful and reflects every LGBTQ+ struggles back then and now.
