    Both great, I just prefer the Remo Ambassador. I find them easy to control and versatile.

    Remo sounds best. However I wish they had the quality control Evans has

    Great quiet playing. Very mature playing. That’s the way to play.

    Great comparison. I preferred the sound of the evens

    I like the Remos better because I hear a fatter mid and lower sound!

    Thanks for the great demo, and kudos on the excellent playing. To my ears, REMO is the Classic snare drum sound that I prefer. Evans heads sound papery and too dry to me. It’s a very popular sound, but not the sound I’m looking for.

    my ears prefer the uv1 in this demo, been meaning to try it out on toms when I wear out my g2 coateds

    They both sound good. My ears tend to gravitate to the Remo.
    The Aquarian Texture Coated is really nice too. Great feel.
    I used evens from 91-95. Once D'Addario took over... Meh...

    I think I preferred the Remo Ambassador...oh, crap! The Evans UV1 head is really nice, too.

    The ambassador is def warmer. The uv1 has a more scratchy, plasticy attack to it.

      In this video, yes I agree. But one thing that drew me to Evan over Remo is that the latter always seems to accentuate frequencies at around 400hz. And that frequency is almost always attenuated on every drum during the mixing process. Evans heads are much flatter in that range which is why I prefer them.

    I like them both for my snare. But Remo is definitely better at everything else (Toms & Kick). Between these two, I’d choose the Ambassador because the cost of the UV1 isn’t justified since they both sound so good. Plus I think Remo heads are the most durable period. I’ve had UV1’s on my Toms, and of all the Evans heads, I like them the most. But, nothing beats the durability of Coated Remo Emperors. John Bonham used Remo exclusively, and for a very specific reason. Just saying.

    I like CA. As well. Never really gave Evans a true chance. Recently I bought a sonor kit. I put a evens G1 coated on the BD batter. It was really nice. Then I bought a CA. And actually the tuning was more difficult and it did not sound nearly as good. I was really shocked. I think you have to pick a drum buy one of each. Let your ears do the judging. Sure that will suffice. Lot of ppl will buy say a 10 inch. Obv rather than say a 16 inch to decided because of the cost. Thanks for the videos mate.

    Both are good, but after playing Remo for nearly 10 years and then trying Evans, there's no competition. I stuck with Evans, and I really like their Hydraulic series and their UV series of heads. They truly are unmatched by other companies, to me at least.

    As a full time working drummer I’ll take the Evans the coating wears off the Remo heads off very quickly, a big bummer if you are a brush player.

      Thomas L Thomas you should check out the Remo ambassador x14 it’s way more durable and its more versatile as well

    • @danlc95
      @danlc95 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HHDLbass5 Same coating is used on those heads as all other Remo heads. Sometimes it wears prematurely, and sometimes it doesn't.

    • @HHDLbass5
      @HHDLbass5 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      danlc95 it is the same coating yes only difference is the x14 has a 14 mil. film of coating which is more than the standard Remo Ambassador, which is what makes it more durable

    • @danlc95
      @danlc95 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HHDLbass5 - The coating thickness is the same as all the other coated heads. Only the film is 14mil.

    • @HHDLbass5
      @HHDLbass5 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      danlc95 have you ever had a side-by-side comparison? There is definitely a difference between the two as far as the thickness of the coating goes, in conjunction with the 14 mil. film. In my experience it feels more coarse, and raised in comparison to a standard Remo Ambassador.

      That snare is amazing. The snare itself cannot fix an improper tunning... Plus those are ringing heads.
