As someone eho believes in Advance 3 supermacy, this gives me all sorts of positive vibes. Man, I wish the oartner system would come back what with the large amount of characters we have now.
Imagine if shadow and other characters like knuckles or tails were actually in shadow generations and helped shadow with stuff like platforming and combat. Man I need sonic advance 3's character picker to be put into a 3D mainline sonic game.
Honestly Sunset Heights would probably make a good Advance level, especially aesthetic wise. Considering it’s already mostly 2D, I’m sure it could work really well, plus Advance controls a lot better than Forces. Granted I don’t know which I prefer control wise between Shadow Generations and Advance 3. Also huge missed opportunity to have Gemerl but slightly purple as a stand in for Infinite here, the best part is he’s more efficient than Infinite ever was. Shame Infinite wasn’t in Shadow Generations, I would have loved to see how they might reimagine him. But then again they probably didn’t want to open the can of worms that is the Phantom Ruby again, imagine writers who want to explore the lore having to explain that. It’s a tall order for such a small game.
Creating Tag Actions for Shadow and these characters. Shadow's R button move: Doom Blast - Allows the other character to aim and shoot to another part of the stage (so the laser wisp without the bounce) Shadow &Knuckles Shadow gets a mid-air slam attack (think of the double-bonk from the CGI OP of his game) and a slower spindash. He can also cling to walls similar to Espio and Mighty in Knuckles' Chaotix Knuckles & Shadow Knuckles' glide gains speed quicker and his punch (when held) shoots a Hadouken(?) like his Extra move in Superstars.
As a fan of the Sonic series since the beginning: Please be careful what you wish for. My generation begged for more 2D nostalgia and we got Sonic 4 😐. I think SEGA learned a HUGE lesson. You can’t put a shiny can of paint on an engine not designed for what you actually want to do and try to pass it off as something else. They’ve finally put their money where their mouth is and thank goodness!!
