Love Mr. Karimloo's gorgeous, resonant voice, his interpretation, and the solemnity and joy with which he sings this beautiful hymn.
"I Vow to Thee, My Country" is a British patriotic hymn, created in 1921 when music by Gustav Holst had a poem by Sir Cecil Spring Rice set to it. The music originated as a wordless melody, which Holst later named "Thaxted", taken from the "Jupiter" movement of Holst's 1917 suite The Planets. So credit for the music goes to the British composer Gustav Holst. This was probably first performed in 1921 and became a common element at Armistice memorial ceremonies, especially after it was published as a hymn in 1926. Holst adapted the music from a section of Jupiter from his suite The Planets to create a setting for the poem. The music was extended slightly to fit the final two lines of the first verse. At the request of the publisher Curwen, Holst made a version as a unison song with orchestra (Curwen also published Sir Hubert Parry's unison song with orchestra, "Jerusalem").

So very beautiful, Ramin. What a wonderful, patriotic song. Grateful thanks to all who serve, or have served. Here in the US we are going to be celebrating Veterans Day this Wednesday, the 11th.
In the UK, it is "celebrated" on both the 11th (Remembrance Day), and the closest Sunday to the 11th (Remembrance Sunday). On both these day, cannons will fire at 11am for a minute silence around the nation. This is coupled with poppies being worn by almost everyone, where the money donated from their sale goes to the Royal British Legion, supporting both those who have served, and the families of those currently serving.

And there's another country

Most great to them that know

Her pride is suffering
And soul by soul and silently
Her shining bounds increase
And her ways are ways of gentleness

Ramin Karimloo and the mistery of how I always get absolutely hooked to anything he sings...
beautiful song, beautiful rendition. Chills, literally chills when I listen
This gives me goosebumps as an expat, this song fills me with pride
Never before has someone kept their vow to their country as faithfully and diligently as Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Greetings from South Africa one of her Commonwealth realms...
Overwhelmed by the beauty of this song and Ramin Karimloo's exceptional voice
That black hair, the beard, the voice, the handsome face…he’s got it all!
What a fab voice. Never knew this Holby City Doctor could sing
Oh he can sing. He has played Jean Valjean in Les Miserables on Broadway, the Phantom on West End with Sierra Boggess as Christine(maybe Broadway too) , He was Glen Vagonov from Anastasia on Broadway, I don’t remember who but he was in Chess on either Broadway or the West End, he did the off Broadway production of Secret Garden with Sierra Boggess, and he and Sierra originated the roles of Phantom and Christine in the Phantom sequel Love Never Dies on West End as well as other gigs. And he also has his own little Broadgrass(Broadway & Bluegrass) band he tours with as well as some albums and EPs. The man has some definite singing chops and it’s how he met his wife Mandy.
Oh gosh darn he can sing. Like no other.
@@kimtaylor762 he did chess in Japan but yes he’s a musical theatre legend
@@kimtaylor762 he was also Marius and enjolras in les mis on the west end and enjolras in the les mis 25th concert and he also played Raoul before the phantom on the west end and he was also in prince of broadway
@@kimtaylor762 ramin has never been the phantom on broadway he had sung the phantom quartet on broadway though
Most glorious and sovereign Lady. God holds you so close.
RIP...This beautiful rendition will always remind me of Her Majesty!!
Damn son, this was chilling
So beautiful inspiring and emotional 😢 your passion you put into everything you sing, gives me goosebumps, you did us proud, remembering the fallen soldier's, sailors, Airmen, Dr, Nurses, Emergency services, and civilians past and present who gave their lives for us. Bravo Ramin 👏 👏 👏 👏 Bravo
His eyes even sing! When he jumps the octave on the final "peace," my goosebumps explode.
This song means so much to true patriots this version is amazing.
Absolutely stunning. Amazing version of this song. Perfect end to the festival of remembrance. Thank you Ramin so uplifting in these strange times❤️
This was beautiful. It was an honor to listen to it.
This is coupled with poppies being worn by almost everyone, where the money donated from their sale goes to the Royal British Legion, supporting both those who have served, and the families of those currently serving.
dianne lavoie its a hymn
@@emilyrosecook1561 The Royal BrItish Legion supports far more
Stunning performance. My two daughters stood and listened throughout. Now that is quite an achievement! You did the boys and girls proud. Well done that man.
This is how I feel about our beautiful planet - I Love you Earth Mother xx
Yeah we humans are poisoning this planet and mother nature wouldn't be very happy about it i bet..
His voice has so much soul . I love him
I still remember this being sung at Princess Diana's funeral. Very moving then and now. A beautiful rendition by Ramin!
its a hymn, it is sung in church
There are no words sufficient to express how wonderful this was. Bravo!
His eyes are as much into the hymn as his voice is.
Amazing, had a throwback when i met Ramin almost 10 years ago, lovely guy, very down to earth. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🌹
What an amazing voice and presence. Ramin Karimloo is truly exceptional. And to an empty V&A Hall. I had to explain to an American friend why everyone is wearing a flower during this period.
Ramin is a fine performer and a powerful, beautiful voice. So glad we have today a singer like Ramin, and there are others. He has dignity and gives so much to the hymn.
Thanks for loading this! I could listen to your voice all day long and as an American I enjoyed the patriotic overtones even though this was a British event. It was also cool seeing the footage of the Royal Albert Hall.
Wish this hymn had been sung at the queens funeral, all about duty and service.
When I saw Les Mis on Broadway, in, I think, 2015?...Ramin was starring in it. I didn’t know who he was and it was the weekend so he was not appearing that particular afternoon. It was still remarkable but....this is what I missed? This man is over the top talented and I could, and probably will, watch this every damn day....❤️❤️👍🏻👍🏻
Ok, I was so confident this was going to be good that I liked the video before it even loaded. I was not disappointed. Even as an American, I love this song and this was an AMAZING performance
Wow wow wow
I knew this song under the name "Jupiter, From the Planets". Hearing it on the voice of Ramin, It makes it for cry and for remembering.
Yeah a British composer put words to it..
Stunning ❤️ Thank you Ramin for uploading.
I had never heard of this gentleman before I watched this. If I'm perfectly honest, my first thoughts were "who the hell is this singing this very British song?". And then I watched it. Well wow. And I most definitely agree with other comments. If there had been an audience, they would have been on their feet - as would I. Wonderful.
Same I just ran across him by accident but I'm happy I did what a stunning voice WOW😱
