Nice to work with what you had on hand. There is a cheap chainsaw vertical edge cutting tool that would do the job as well that is quite inexpensive. One needs to do what they can with what tools they have. Nothing wrong with saving all you can especially on a project that can be a bit more on the rustic side.
Good video, thanks. I’m just getting set up, I’ve been doing a bit with a beam maker, just got a new saw and Alaskan. I’m going to try edging and 2x4 with the MS170 and a $10 full chisel UpStart Amazon chain, the thing rips like crazy. I made some benches with it, it won’t have a problem with 2 inch.
That's definitely a good idea to use a skill saw to get rid of live edge I would probably do that and then once I have a flat edge rip boards out on a table saw.
Interesting. Shows me what is possible. But also tells me I’ll be better off if I can reach my site with 120VAC, skip my battery saw, and use my 7-1/4” worm drive. BTW my mill is on a Husqvarna 385XP I bought in 2002. It’s fun learning new things.👍
Looks great. I'd prefer to mill slabs and let them age first, then cut the dimensional boards months later, but you may be in more of a hurry than that :) I imagine that for a rough enough shed, completely green lumber just might be ok.
Nice work man
Couldn't tell if you had a combo blade on your dewalt. But I imaging a true ripping blade might be helpful.

Here’s my video, it’s on my other channel. th-cam.com/video/XGsB2XsAJoE/w-d-xo.html
I'm surprised you didn't set up some kind of guide for the circular saw. Great Work none the less.

Why not use the chainsaw mill? Rip your log square, then into 4 inch thick slabs, then stand on its edge and rip 2 inches deep. 2x4 complete

I appreciate this

It worked out just fine! I’ll have to make a video of the shed now. It’s been about a year and it’s pretty dry
What kind if mill did u use
ace...how many studs can you cut with one battery?
Not many, maybe three or four. Definitely better to have a corded or a bigger battery
Thank you for sharing!!
