There are both approaches in mine. The background is very wet, some sections of petals are too. I love the color flow you can get with wet on wet, even layered upon. But the areas I needed to control were mostly dry. Soppy wet on dry, sure! Kept the flow of colors available. You may have missed that this was an experimental piece, and I was trying new things to learn and stretch.
this was really lovely outcome and had lots of movement and directional changes in the design...

i might have missed it, but are you working wet on dry? soppy wet in places on dry?
