Big Mama was a famous chorus vocalist in the Korean music industry before her debut. Among her many songs and singers, there was also PSY. Then, while she was studying abroad in France for two years, Mbot and its members, a label under YG Entertainment (2NE1, Blackpink), joined her. The group that was created through direct participation in production debuted on February 6, 2003 as Big Mama.
They were active until 2012 and reunited in 2021 after 9 years of separate activities. Their current agency is Kakao Entertainment.

And I definitely recommend the two-member male group “MeloMance”
1. URBAN ZAKAPA: A three-member mixed group that debuted in 2009 and has amazing vocal skills and an incredible voice.
2. Sung Si Kyung: Solo singer and representative Korean ballad singer who debuted in 2000. With his sweet voice and singing ability, he has a huge fan following among Korean and Asian women. His song lyrics are characterized by being truly sad and beautiful. (This singer's Killing Voice channel currently has the highest number of views.)
3. MeloMance: A two-member male group that debuted in 2015 and is divided into piano and vocal parts. His characteristic feature is that he has a high range of vocals and sweet and amazing skills.
This is THE Killing Voice... Big Mama. Gorgeous Vocals. Soul sisters that serve ballads. Great reaction guys.
I would rate them a LITTLE lower than Taeyeon, but not by much!

I think they came up after MAMAMOO's Killing Voice and I regretted skipping this video before. I literally skipped a gem. First song, you're done. Full of powerhouse vocals! I became their fan after watching this many times. I'm happy you checked this out, all their songs are amazing specially if you love old and mellow songs

I have some Killing voice recommendations(Hopefully these help):
+Melomance Killing Voice(Melomance is a duo, the one that will be singing is Kim Min-seok his voice is crazy you wont believe the notes he can hit with such a straight face, Jeong Dong-hwan is the pianist)
+Xia Killing Voice (Xia/ Kim Junsu is a kpop soloist and musical actor he was a former member of TVXQ and currently in JYJ I have no idea if JYJ is still together or disbanded)
+Hwang Chi Yeul Killing Voice ( He is a soloist who was in obscurity and a kpop idol vocal coach until he made an appearance on a variety show called "I Can See Your Voice" after that his popularity sky rocketed he has a beautiful deep husky voice, an amazing performer, and hilarious)
+FT Island Killing Voice(FT Island is a Korean band they do both rock and pop the one singing will be Lee Hongki his voice is astonishing his voice travels without the need of reverb its very powerful and clear one of the best rock voices in Kpop)
These next three are ones that are K-Hip-Hop & K-R&B artist that I think you would enjoy I would especially really love to see these:
+Golden/G-Soul Killing Voice(His voice is angelic and his runs are just exquisite)
+Crush Killing Voice(I love his vibe and his voice is so lovely whenever you hear KR&B and Hip-Hop his name is one of the top)
+Zion.T Killing Voice (His music has a unique sound and I can listen to him all day the moment you hear his voice it's easy to know its him from his tone to his vocal style its all unique and very vibey)

Fun fact about these two groups: Two of Big Mama’s members were two of BTOB’s members professors in university! They sure learned from the best! (Another crazy fun fact: The two members of BTOB was enrolled in early admission in Howon Uni, Harvard of music in Korea where Big Mama members teach, in a rate of 5/3000 were only two were male and they both happen to be part of BTOB!)

Hi! I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoy your reactions, especially the ones with killing voice.🤗 (I would not complain if you guys were to listen to every killing voice performance it's a really good way to find new artists, talents etc. I think you would also enjoy Davichi and 4men😉)
Also I think when it comes to music if the artists are talented no matter the age you can still appreciate it even if it's not the style/genre you usually listen to because it just draws you in. Me personally I love this genre and their voices🥰 (btw I'm 21, I pretty much love everything that my ears find good😂)

Hi guys!!! I really love that you're checking out more groups from Killing Voice :) Other ones I highly recommend would be Xia (incredible voice, but just a solo singer, that used to be a part of TVXQ/DBSK!) and Infinite (Unique discography!).
Also, I saw someone else mention Park Hyo Shin (the love of my life) and I highly recommend checking out his song Wildflower for something absolutely perfect. His song Home is beautiful too.
What a joy to watch again! Toni Braxton came to my mind as well haha. Some En Vogue vibes too. I cant believe you love Utada Hikaru and Boa too! Have you seen So Hyang yet? Park Hyo Shin? Melomance killing voice is also nice. And if you like more live singing there is Lee Mujin Service, a youtube music show. Changsub(the special one😊) of BTOB (stan BTOB yall)has been a guest and he sings a couple of songs live and talks about his singing

Don't know if you guys have noticed this but on the channel where you find Killing Voice, they also have a few videos that are Tipsy Voice when the artists sing while inebriated (some more inebriated than others lol). You don't really watch it for the highest quality vocals, more like watch it for the vibe of them singing like they are just hanging out having drinks with their members. My personal favorite is Seventeen's bc most groups that did Tipsy Voice did like 1 or 2 songs but Seventeen's is a like a whole mini set and the go through a whole mood shift from laughter and twerking to tears over what they've gone through together.

@@raven3moon That would have been great if they were named in homage to Big Mamá. However, they actually got their name from the the English title of Mr. Ambiguous. This song was one that their CEO actually wrote for Quincy Jones. He didn't use so it was changed a bit and given to Mamamoo. I found it funny that at first they said the name was the sound a baby makes. Lol. Solar has admitted this was not true, they just made it up. Lol.

They changed the direction of the K-pop scene.
At that time, it was only idols that young women appeared in groups in Korea. Because idols occupy the majority of the market and the profits are only there, so all the entertainment companies focused on that's.
In other words, only cute and pretty girls do girl groups, not skills. This was common sense at the time.
Simply put, you can't be a singer if you're not pretty. Because on the show, idol groups were just lip sync. They didn't need singing skills at all.
In that situation, they didn't need a great singing skill. The music market is like this, so if the girls aren't pretty, they can't debut at all.
At this time, a group formed only with skills came out, and that's Big Mama.
Why would the group name be Big Mama? They were fat. It wasn't pretty.
But, contrary to most people's expectations, it was a huge success. First of all, their skills were incredible, and people were tired of the poor singers dominating the show.
Here, the direction of K-pop's history changes. The voice of the magnetism got a boost. It was probably the second generation of K-pop. Restricted lip sync on the show.
When the singers lip-synced, the station put the lip-sync mark on the screen.
From the second generation, entertainment companies began to work hard to improve their singing skills.
This is why the current K-pop system came out. Think about it.
Exclusive contracts are signed roughly every seven years. If you subtract 7 years from 25, you're 18 years old, right? The agency has to debut at the age 17.
In the early days, the agency gathered pretty girls right away, but after a few months of familiarizing them with simple choreography, they could debut right away. They'll lip sync anyway.
It's impossible now. They have to improve their singing skills, and the choreography is getting harder.
That's why the agency created a trainee system.
The agency gathered key talents and spent several years training hard.
So, their age as trainees is 13 years old.
Of course, because of this system, idols who usually debut at Korea's four major agencies generally don't question their ability.
The problem is that other companies do this too. It's a competition.
K-pop in Korea is not just idols. There's a lot of other fields. But these are the reasons why K-pop became popular in Korea.
Because of the fierce competition, everyone's skills are leveled upward.
Idols these days are like Superman and Superwoman.
She is pretty, sings well, dances well, has a sense of entertainment, has to be nice, is humble, has a nice body, communicates with fans, and love for fans.
