  • Today on JD Cars we’re replacing the inner axle seals on the Jeep! I am demonstrating this process on a 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited but the process will be virtually the same on any Jeep Wrangler. This is one of those projects that’s really easy to push off and say “ah it’s fine… I’ll get to it.” BUT DON’T. If you push off the replacement of these seals and lose all of your fluid… the result will be catastrophic failure of the front differential. I highly recommend investing in the installation tool (ask your Jeep friends if they have one first) and certainly do spend the $20-30 on the outer axle seals. Overall, not a terribly challenging job. Just take your time.

Nice video, well explained, I wonder if you encountered the same issue as me, I noticed that the outer seals (which I ordered the same as you did) they will spin with the axel, they wont stay in place, had to return them, but other than that the job was a success, Im curious how your outer seals are doing

Nice work. Did you consider replacing the bearings while you were in there?

Dude, that’s the worst gear oil I’ve ever seen.

Do you grease the seals before sliding the axle back in ?

Thanks for sharing. How long did it take to replace them? (Consider no video recording) just straight from start to end

How have the outer seals held up and have they helped? I’ve heard lots of guys complain that they can trap water in your tubes and make things worse.

The outer seals have yet to blow... but you really do bring up a good point. I hadn't considered drainage. Might be the reason Jeep didn't put a seal there 😂

@@JDCarsChannel jeep considered cost of the average driver not going into a muddy river bank. Or heading out in sand afterwards.
A good pump of grease before a trail run will keep the majority of crap out. And anything small enough - like water will eventually cook itself out.
Watched you video because I’m about to do the same...
