Looks great! I would rather have all drawers and no doors below the counter though, because drawers are easier to access and use down at that level. That especially applies to kitchens cabinets. I don't like to have to get down on my hands and knees to get into the back of the bottom of the cabinets. You do you though. Great job!
I actually never considered using that Kregg clamp to clamp onto my work bench. That’s actually pretty genius lol. I will be using that going forward 👌
My husband is very handy and has built many things throughout the years but we are taking on a project like this in our home that is being built and I want it perfect. Your video is very helpful in highlighting things that might be forgotten or not considered for your everyday cabinet maker. Love it. Content much appreciated.
Amazing job 👏. Beautiful work. Need to build a book case with cabinets. We live in SCAL CA but moving to WI. Making minor Updates to our CA home to increase value. You are truly a talented carpenter.
Jesse, thanks for the video. Helped a lot. Customized 13’ for full sized built ins. Middle unit built specifically for the PS5, PS4, Switch, and my 4K player. Added 2 almost full height bookcases in each side for my wife’s million books. Your construction methods are spot on. Thanks again.
I based my built-in cabinets off of your video alone, and they turned out great! I kept the middle one empty for a fireplace insert. Just need to get the doors done now. Thanks! Hope you are doing well.
I like the alternating shelf colors -some wall color, some cabinet color. I also caught the heat register - I built a kitchen cabinet on wheels, I never did put the bottom front piece on but I’ve since moved it and it’s over a register so the heat filters out ... good thing I never put that piece on. I’d have made a piece to blend that in but it still looks great.
Thanks! Was just a little something to differentiate them a bit so it wasn't so bland, but didn't scream "look at me" also. Yeah the register was in the way but it was easy to get around, she didn't want anything crazy so just a decorative metal cover for it. Thanks for watching!
Looks awesome mate💯 I actually decided today to make a shelf for under the tv. So had some pine shelf really thick. About an inch and a half thick and 40 inches long. Just need to sand and remove the previous darker coat. And I have clear coat for pine which makes it more of an orange tone... Really looking nice. And triangles at the bottom for support
Can you please explain about the vent on the front? Do you have to do anything special inside the base to reroute the vent from the floor? Or just be sure there’s a vent on the front and the air will find its way out?
Love this - quick questions: 1. Did you attach the bookshelves to the butcher block or just that top piece? 2. Did you attach the base cabinets to the wall anywhere else than the top piece? 3. Out of curiosity, why didn't you go with a toekick?
Thanks! 1. I didn't attach them to the block top. I had the material to do it, was just going to be a dowel drilled into the top, and then up into the face frame. But it was already so solid with the face frame keeping the sides rigid, they decided it wasn't needed. 2. The base cabinets just got a couple pan head screws into a wall stud through the rear nailer plate in the cabinet like I showed. That's more than anough. They were also screwed to eachother once installed through the face frame. 3. Just a design choice. They went with a flat front, with the option to continue the baseboard across it at a later date if they wanted
Hey Jesse, looking really nice! I am going toundertake building some built-ins myself and your video has helped me heaps! Gotta pay attention to that detail..
We did her yup, but you could do either or. They were going to be replacing it in the future, didn't know with what. They also didn't know if they wanted to pull back the carpet so we just didn't. Up here anyway it'll help keep the floor warmer in the winter like a little insulation. If they want it removed later, the cabinets come out easy enough
I don't like bit extenders usually because the bit always stays in the screw. It's just a 6" long bit the goes straight into the drill. You can find them at most places with all the bits
I'm curious about the cabinet doors. Did you build the cabinets to match a door you could preorder and use? Or did you make the doors too? I would like to build a built in in my basement but I'm not sure how to handle cabinet doors or drawers. I'm not confident I can make a drawer or cabinet door. Any advice?
I built the doors myself. I have a video on my channel of how I make simple pocket doors and how to measure for them. I also have another video on how to measure and build pocket hole drawers. Check them out, I lay it all out as easily as I could!
Right on the carpet is just fine in this case, nothing is hot. If I had an embedded fireplace or something I'd rip it up. Or if it was going to be replaced in the future, I'd rip it up first and the new carpet can go up to the cabinets
I’m confused if you routed a 1/4” rabbet into the back and then used 1/4” foot plywood wouldn’t it then just set flush with the wall causing the problem you were attempting to avoid?
Nice job. I need to tackle something like this, but one of the bookshelves needs to be a hidden door... any chance you wanna make one of those for inspiration? 😉
HELP! I Have an important question for you. I'm building a house and I would like the do the craftman style door trim and window trim. How far should the top piece of trim hang over? Some say 1/2 inch some say 3/8. I need any advice i can get. Thank you so much in advance
It's entirely up to you. Like I said, I did 3/4" when my top and bottom trim was wider then the sides. But when I did them all with the same trim I did 1/2". It's all what looks good to your eye, there is no code for it
Looks great!

Sorry for the super late reply but that's awesome! Happy to help

That's awesome, glad to hear it! Good luck on the rest of it. Appreciate it
Assembled perfectly!
Thanks!
You did that! Absolutely beautiful!!
Yeah I did! Thank you!
Oh my goodness I needed this video! Thank you so much 🇨🇦

Beautiful work! Will try to follow this tutorial.
Thanks! Good luck on yours
such nice work... this skill (gift) never fails to amaze me
Thanks, appreciate it
Great job. Now I need to do that!
Thanks. It's definitely a lot of work but it is so nice when done. Good luck on yours!

wow that looks great!

Really nice competent job. Looks great!

You can get attachments to go from vent to vent, but in this case just having it be a positive pressure and let the air find it's way out is also ok.
Love this - quick questions:

I’m gonna give this a go! Excellent video
Awesome! Good luck on yours, keep me posted
Nice job, looks the part👌

@@JessedoesDIY thanks mate! Another jess doing DIY 😄
Anytime! Lol that's awesome
Installed on top of the carpet? I’m getting ready to make already built shelves look built in - wondering if I should pull back the carpet.

Love the channel some great content I've just built a DIY Japanese pond love being creative thanks for sharing 👍
Anytime, thanks for watching
looks amazing. what would the estimated cost (parts & labor) be for something like this?
Thanks! I can't remember parts cost on this note, it's been a few years. I think it was $7-800 and labor is all dependant on where you live
I want some so bad!! 😢
Me too! This wasn't even for me
How to reach outlets from above the base cabinet? What were outlets used for?
Not sure I understand
What is the tool you are using with your saw to keep the rip of the plywood straight?
Rip cut jig. I believe I linked it in the description
Phenomenal job by the way. What is the size of the cabinets? Are they 12 inch deep or 16 inch?
Thanks. The center cabinet is 16", sides are 14" and tops are 12"
What is that Long impact driver bit holder?😊 I mean I Can see it is a bit extender. But what brand and length is it?
I don't like bit extenders usually because the bit always stays in the screw. It's just a 6" long bit the goes straight into the drill. You can find them at most places with all the bits
@@JessedoesDIY okay thanks :) is it a standard bit or for an impact driver?☺️
They are made for impact use, but it's a standard 1/4" chuck. It can fit in drills, impacts, screwdrivers. They all use the same connector
@@JessedoesDIY okay thank you so much for replying❤️
Anytime
Nice and simple. 🇦🇺👍🍺🍺
Thanks!
The outlet is only available in the base cabinet, correct? What will be placed in the base cabinet that uses electric outlet?
The outlet on that wall is in the base now, yes. She uses it for charging things sometimes, I'm sure she uses it for more I'm just not sure what
I'm curious about the cabinet doors. Did you build the cabinets to match a door you could preorder and use? Or did you make the doors too? Is building on carpet okay or should I rip the carpet first and build a box frame?
Right on the carpet is just fine in this case, nothing is hot. If I had an embedded fireplace or something I'd rip it up. Or if it was going to be replaced in the future, I'd rip it up first and the new carpet can go up to the cabinets
I’m confused if you routed a 1/4” rabbet into the back and then used 1/4” foot plywood wouldn’t it then just set flush with the wall causing the problem you were attempting to avoid?
What kind of screws did you use in the pocket holes?
Regular Kreg pocket screws at the recommended lengths the call for based on material. In this case, 1 1/4"
WOW! 😍
Thanks!
Nice job. I need to tackle something like this, but one of the bookshelves needs to be a hidden door... any chance you wanna make one of those for inspiration? 😉
Thanks! Unfortunately I can't. Right now all my builds are specific to what comes up in my daily life, and I just don't have time to otherwise
@@JessedoesDIY but who doesn't need a hidden door somewhere in their home?!
Kidding - you do you. We'll keep watching!
Lol I know right! I just don't have a spot for it. Thanks for watching!
Can you just tell me some east way to instal sink and kitchen area.

About how much did the wood materials cost for this project?
About $1000
Great work! Your subscriber.
Thanks!
I wanna have built in cabinets but I don't wanna leave em when I move. I want to keep them.
And there lies the problem lol They look awesome, but that's where they stay
Take the friggin gloves off, buy a counter set bit and a shorter extension.
Gloves prevent slivers, I was testing to see if I liked them. And I like what I like, you like what you like. Relax man
Really nice!
Thank you!
