13 albums. 8 years. Thank you 🇬🇧❤️ from 🇺🇸 for giving the whole world The Beatles!!! I wouldn't be a successful musician without them. They truly changed music and the world forever. I'd be so proud of them if I were born in the UK, I am proud of them as a human being. They are my teachers. I am 57 years old. I was very young when they were around, but my older brothers and sisters had All their records around. Fabulous, Amazing Group. GOAT!!!
Wise to start at the beginning. Their early albums are so beautiful. Full of youthful energy. Four lads learning their way. Bar a handful of songs they hardly wrote a dud track. Personally I think they’re aliens from another planet come here as a gift from a much more advanced civilisation.
Great reaction!, my friend recommended an album called abbey road for the beatles and this was the start for me with the beatles. With a little help from my friends is such a vibe for me i listen to it whenever I'm feeling down.
Good for you Ella, it doesn’t matter when you discover them, you’ll still see the magic unfold as you hear more and more of their catalog. The 4 were only together about 8 years, and they seem so much older by Abby Road, their last recorded album. You should react to all their albums, starting with Please, Please Me, and see how much they progress, it’s amazing. Great reaction, glad you seemed to sense you would like it, and then wondered aloud why you waited so long!😄❤️
Yes I’m sure I will! I didn’t know that was their last recorded album, very interesting. I definitely will react to all their albums and can’t wait. And haha I knew that I’d love them as they were so popular and I’d heard a few of their songs before. Thanks so much for watching! ❣️
@@EuphonicElla Ella, if you do react to all their albums, like someone else mentioned The Beatles, with a few exceptions, didn’t include their singles on albums because they felt they’d be charging twice for the same song. Perhaps you could react to the singles in between their albums, as they were the songs they considered their best.
It does my heart good to see people in your age group appreciative of this wonderful band. I’m 65 and have been obsessed since I first heard them at age 7 on The Ed Sullivan Show. They just had something that set them apart from everyone else ever since. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I first heard The Beatles albums in full when I was about 23. Sgt Pepper works very well as an album, lots of contrasts but the themes somehow hold it all together and take you on a journey. Getting Better is a very easy to like track but it isn't as well known as Lucy or WALHFMF. This was the first album that had song lyrics printed on the record sleeve. They had just stopped touring for good and this album showed their increasing invention in the studio.
Wow that is amazing! I love them so much too! I filmed the second part of Sgt peppers today so it will come in a few days and I’m working on reacting to all their albums! ❣️
The Beatles are amazing! If you start from the beginning, to listen to each album, be ready for changes! They were never content to stay in one mode and they were always responding to new inspiration! They started as a guitar/drums/vocals-driven band but switched to a much more progressive-Pop band , like the Sgt. Peppers music, later in their 8-year career. It’s a beautiful, thrilling journey you are on!
Rule One: Headphones! Suggestion One: Start at the beginning of their recording career to truly appreciate just how phenomenal their meteoric evolution was. They came in on top and went out the same way. Nearly every album was better than the last and then - all of a sudden - they released 'Rubber Soul'. While the rest of the music world was trying figure that one out, they released 'Revolver' (frequently considered the all-time best pop album). That pretty much locked the Beatles way ahead of the pack. Then they released this album. That left everyone permanently in the dust.
well if you want to edit it for me, be my guest. using headphones would take LOTS of extra work which i want to put into the next beatles video as they have 13 albums. it takes hours to produce videos like this and using earbuds would make my life so much more difficult. so sorry but i can't
@@EuphonicElla Ella, I understand the technical issues with headphones for your videos but I do hope you continue to enjoy this album in your own time with headphones on. So much of the music from the 1960's and 1970's really used stereo very creatively, with instruments and voices placed in a very wide audio landscape and you are missing so much just listening on any mono device. The separation of each musical part of the arrangements brings so much more clarity to the listening experience, it's like hearing the songs in high definition 3D. I first heard this album on vinyl on a tinny mono record player, and I played this album to death, it was totally ground-breaking in so many ways. It was maybe a decade later before I could afford my own stereo system and I was astounded all over again.
Very nice and fun reaction! Once you start from the beginning, just keep in mind the singles were generally not on the albums. You can find them on the two parts of “Past Masters’” which you need to also listen to for a complete picture of their work, plus they are amazing songs
If you ever get the chance, you should react to the mono mixes of these albums, particularly Revolver and Sgt. Pepper. Those were the original mixes that The Beatles themselves approved and when I heard them, it was like hearing the albums for the first time again.
Nice work Ella! You chose their most unusual record, which is an interesting place to start. They weren't going for "hits" here, just an overall theme. They often didn't put their singles on the albums. Each album is kinda different and really creative. I'm going to subscribe and look forward to your next video! 😁👍
Thanks so much! I chose this one to start with because I didn’t know that I was going to do their whole discography and also, it was a recommended album to listen to for my gcse music and a study piece for previous years so it looked interesting. It’s such an amazing album though! I still need to listen to the other half and that will be the next reaction and then I’m going to go through all of their stuff from the beginning. I can just tell it’s going to take forever but I don’t care, it’s going to be so much fun! Thanks so much for watching and I can’t wait to see you there! ❣️
Yes in the UK they didn't put singles on albums, but in the US their record label insisted on the singles being put on so their releases were different. Sgt Pepper was the first release in the US that exactly copied the UK release I think.
Pleeeeease. if you want to 'hear' the music, you really need to be listening to them on headphones, from a good quality source, otherwise you are missing so much. It's great that you are launching off on this journey though - the late 1960s and 1970s had music like no other period in history - there is a bottomless pit of stuff to explore (not all great, or even good) but mostly "NEW"
Nice video, hope you continue to do more reactions to The Beatles! All their albums are quite solid and each offer something a little different and exciting, and of course they also have some of the best albums of all time. I can understand it can be dauting when listening to classics for the first time, but when it comes to The Beatles everyone has that phase. I personally really got into them when I discovered them in the early 2010's as a teenager. They still remain one of my favorite rock bands of all time. My only suggestion would be to listen to them in chronological order, their musical evolution is quite astonishing and would give you a better perspective as to why they were and continue to be so successful and influential. I recommend the channel Call Me Caroline for reference, though I completely understand if you find that type of undertaking too exhaustive.
It's not about drugs. John's son, Julian was 3 when he brought home a picture he drew of a friend at school. John asked what it was..." Lucy in the sky ,with diamonds was his answer. The picture is owned by the drummer of Pink Floyd. L.S.D was completely coincidental. Got to get you into my life was however, about marijuana.
Despite the popular myth, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds isn't specifically about drugs or drug induced experiences. John Lennon's son Julian came home from kindergarten one day with a beautiful coloured picture he'd drawn of his little friend Lucy, flying in the sky amongst the stars. Possibly confused by the nursery rhyme/song 'Twinkle twinkle little Star' he'd got stars mixed up with diamonds and had titled it Lucy in the Sky with (not Stars, but) Diamonds. This is NOT a myth, you can google it and see the drawing, with its title. And you can read about Lucy and what happened to her, and see photos of her. John's imagination was fired by this beautiful image and its strange title, and adding further surreal visual imagery inspired by Lewis Carroll's 'Alice' books that he'd read and loved as a child, plus other novel inclusions of his own imaginative creation, he wove it all into an extraordinary song. Of course, there was some general influence from heightened/ altered sensibilities due to marijuana and acid, which affected a lot of popular culture at the time, but it was only later when people pointed out the initials spelt LSD that John became aware of it - it was never intended as a coded reference, as some like to claim. There is a minor industry in people reading coded messages into all things Beatles, and most of it is nonsense. In fact, the Beatles were never shy about telling the truth about what their influences were, whether drugs, lesbians and prostitutes, or anything else, and there's no reason John would have been unwilling to acknowledge it if LITSWD really had been meant as some sort of coded in-joke about drugs.
Before you listen to any of their later albums, I would suggest you invest in a good pair of over the ear headphones, your little speaker won't do the music justice, it's a must!
it's coming soon, it's just i'm really sick at the moment and I'm doing some really important exams so it may take me a couple of weeks but i promise it will come :)
I have 10. pcs of " Sgt.Peppers," on cassette, vinyl and CD. So,you know how good it is.😎 P.S.i have all the Beatles albums from Germany, former Yugoslavia,Italy, and from two days ago from U.K.too.
Awesome reaction! Keep up with the Beatles, you'll definitely see your subscriber numbers rise. And If I were you, I would consider reacting to Led Zeppelin. When you look at the top 5 biggest selling musical artists of all time, Led Zeppelin are #5 with Approximately 350 million album sales. (Michael Jackson is #4 with ~400 million, Garth Brooks is #3 with ~500 million, Elvis Presley is #2 with ~750 million, and of course the Beatles are #1 by far with ~2.3 Billion). I would start with their first album (Led Zeppelin I) and go in chronological order from there. Just a suggestion, either way I subscribed! Peace
Yes it’s so fun, I’d love to carry on with them! I may try Led Zeppelin even though my music teacher played it in class once and I got a bit of a headache 😂 I’m just not used to ittt! And those five artists should be top! Thanks so much for watching!
@@EuphonicElla Yeah, I guess if you're not used to it, a headache might happen, lol. I dig it all, from Zeppelin and the Beatles, to Dua Lipa, Doja cat, Khalid, Ella Mai, and so many others, old and new. What I've come to realize is there is more in common with different styles of music than most people realize. For me, it's hard to differentiate into genres. I either think of music as good or bad. Perhaps doing a full album of Zeppelin might be a bit too much to start. The song "Stairway to Heaven" is such a classic that you may already be familiar with it, but if you're not, that might be a good one to start with if you've never heard it before and you're interested in checking out some Zeppelin. It is off of their 4th album titled "Led Zeppelin IV". Either way, I would suggest keeping up with the Beatles. Perhaps do their 1st album next and go chronologically from there. It might be a good way to go.
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is about drugs? That's a bit lazy of your parents😉 Maybe it was written after an LSD trip, but John Lennon said 1) the title was from a drawing by his young son of a classmate Lucy and 2) he was inspired by Lewis Carroll, the writer of Alice in Wonderland while describing a dream world and that fits... But yes, it's said that the first letters of the nouns in the title spell LSD...
