Inspiring story about the seeds of greatness within a broken soul could grow with the support and encouragement from people who believed in her potential. Cruel, greedy and selfish family members reaped what they sowed. Thank you for a conclusion that seems real and authentic. Thank you for your unique and masterful storytelling. I am so glad that she did well in spite of the challenges, sometimes all we need is that one good friend. The parents should consider themselves very fortunate that she at least took care of their immediate needs, while their other two golden children neglected them. Great lesson for parents, treat all your children equally.

Thank you so much for this wonderful story. Very well told. I am also from Africa and I had a similar childhood but for me it not from my real parents, it was from my forsto parents. I had to do all the work in the house, I did go to a good school but most of the time I went to school late. Thanks be to God the rejected stone is always the cornerstone today. I have to take care of everybody in my foster family. Their children none of them graduated from college and I have my doctor degree and living in the United States with my husband and children. I have all my children in America. Thanks be to God again and again. I have one regret, though my mother died before I met my husband.

This story brings to me the past memories. I was like her, went through similar treatments. Academically, I wasn't bright, even basic two and three letter words were challenging for me, I couldn't pronounce them. I was told I would amount to nothing in life. In short, I am now something else that those who saw my childhood wonder and in awe. I believe we shouldn't look down on a child because of his/her academic prowess or academic deficiency. Because we would never know what that child would become. If we can't encourage them, she shouldn't discourage them either. Thanks for writing this nice piece of story for the world to read.

Parents need to stop expecting their children to grow up and save them. Their job is to raise them and equipment them with the tools to succeed, and if the children have an abundance; it would be only proper that they help their parents out. It is not an obligation, and parents shouldn't burden their children that way. They are responsible for leaving a legacy for their children; not debt and they are not owed luxury at their children's expense.
The mother of worse because the mother was to lazy to do housework and too busy gossiping, so it was easy to pass her responsibility on to a child who needed extra help.
I'm glad even though Nnene could have, she didn't give them a luxurious lifestyle.
I'm glad she distanced herself from all the toxicity.

This tales reminds me of what I went through when I was growing up. I was not the brightest candle in the class or at home, I was battling with my studies, though I never failed. As time went on and growing up at high school I spend most of time studying and eventually my grades improved and I started understanding that every is special, different, unique, gifted and God has a plan for everyone. I also learned to be patient with myself, accept my uniqueness and kept studying until I passed in highest grades I amazed everyone that looked down on me, calling me slow learner, stupid and I excelled in my studies even to today the one's mocked me, ridiculed me now respect me. I never gave up, but I believed and still believe in myself and the power that I possess inside of me.

She shouldn't have given the parents any money. She forgave them which I would not.
She paid his hospital but not suppot them the mother was harsh as well as her siblings. Keep ur wealth God and ur true friends loved and supported you.
Harsh life for a child. Now they wanted to be a family.

The black sheep always ends up becoming the star of the family. The golden child tends to fail later in life, though not all the time. Parents should acknowledge talent if their child isn't book smart, the same talent can make their child great.
