People who aren't nasty and hateful and have some sense wouldn't care what she's wearing...thankfully those hateful nasty people are finally becoming the minority, not only in this country but all over the world...most of mainstream media would want us to believe otherwise....and while there are alot of negative things happening in this world we cannot give up,because in the end love, compassion, and tolerance WILL win and I think this story and other stories like it prove that...LOVE ALWAYS WINS IN THE END :)

I am an indigenous Canadian woman wearing hijab and I have been fired from jobs for praying in a corner at work on my break. I have been told to back to my country 😳 I'm Metis/First Nations my family has been here for thousands of years.
I have been physically attacked, sworn at by white Canadians. I have on the other spectrum been victim to immigrant against immigrants bullying as they think I'm from Afghanistan or Morocco or Syria.
I'm still wearing hijab but I feel very sad Canadian society has such a misunderstanding of peaceful Islam.

From a particular theoretical view maybe.. since discrimination is the topic at hand I highly doubt anyone should have the notion that the US can be viewed as a role model for other countries. We simply have too much to learn, too much to apologize for. So while of course this is a great story and gives one hope, it is only one instance and not representative of the state of the country as a whole; we still have a long way to go.

It really boggles my mind each time I see or hear someone question our hijab!? smh soooo if we were naked and wore low cut clothing boobs hanging out or what ever if that is a CHOICE or an option for a woman then WHY cant it be our choice to dress modestly!!!? When do we think we have the right to tell someone what they can wear and what they cant and WHY or how could it ever be an obstacle for employment! I'm soooooo happy to see this sister follow her dream I hope more women like us do the same! We cover our heads not our minds, We think freely and have educations and we are more than just our "scarfs" we are WOMEN!!!! Congratulations!!!

Lete clarify: Its Islam what tells women that its better to not go out of their home. If she wants to do any job there are some conditions
    1. She should cover herself properly
    2. She should not work at a place where there are opposite genders
    3. She should not do the work what is haram and against islamic law. She should not do modeling, singing, dancing ,photograph related jobs which can show her or expose her , media and any kind of work which is AGAINST WOMEN'S INSTINCTS.
    4. Whatever job she does, she should be focused in familly. If should do job only when she could handle familly properly and handle all household work properly.
I wonder if she has the permission to work as a tv reporter.....

i have never heard “this christian-american, or this jewish-american, or buddhist-american woman ..... etc, etc”. the title suggests that a dividing line does exist.

salma siddiq Are these Michigan Muslims? The Michigan Muslims are progressive and have been in Michigan since 1930’s. Boxer Ali from Michigan was well liked as was the Arab DJ Casey Kasem. Melcome X is also from Michigan and a famous peaceful activist

all other news outlets: - oh we will support her- as long as she's not on OUR channel, as long as WE don't have to hire her.. because we certainly weren't jumping at the opportunity to give her this huge accomplishment you congratulate her on. they are all happy to talk about it- as long as she's at a distance, working elsewhere.
