I had an old Chief Warrant Officer-4 in the Marine Corps that used to have a bunch of dummy rounds.
He would have us give a mag full of rounds to the person next to us. They would load the dummy round somewhere in the mag.
That meant you had to deal with a malfunction, and also got a really good idea of if you were flinching when you were shooting...
    It was Brilliant.
Could be a great addition to a shooting competition, like USPSA, etc...

Yeah dude have your buddies load dummy rounds in your mags. Works good, we would load spent rounds sometimes to cause some nasty jams. Works good

I have plenty of videos with malfunctions lol… but it’s mainly caused by me… for not changing mag springs after they are worn out …..

how do you practice something that is supposed to unexpectedly happen? this makes no sense. kinda defeats the purpose when "you know" that a "malfunction" is gonna happen

The same way you train shooting a firearm. The same way you train drawing a firearm. Do you think that in self defense scenarios the person defending their self knows beforehand that they will need to draw and fire at somebody?

Not necessarily. If you're still pushing for time standard it makes a big difference. Buy a timer

Have someone else put randomly a snap cap (or dummy rounds) in the mag to practice your tap-racks

have your range buddy load your mags and have them work in a random dummy round or have your wife load a mag the day before and put it in your go bag with the rest of the mags

Is the tap worth the extra time in your opinion?

If you are able to read the malfunction and know it's not mag related, then it's not necessary. A click on the first or second round in a mag is probably mag related. A click in the middle of the mag is probably just ammo related.

I like to tape my hands up and have a buddy induce malfunctions while squirting oil on my gun... to simulate blood of course.
Lol no, it happens plenty with bulk covid ammo.
