PLEASE come to Brownsville TX. We need your help! I have a purebred German Shepherd. Shes a smart wonderful dog. She's learned some bad habits and is extremely reactive to other dogs. We can loose leash walk, but as soon as we see another dog, she is completely unreachable.
A friend had a very Anxious reactive dog and she didn't get that her anxiety was feeding the dogs anxiety. She didn't get why the dog listened to me and was calm when I was there. I'm so glad this lady with the furry wonder understood the lesson and is now ready to have a great walk with her beloved dog.
It's a bit like a frustrated parent with a baby who cries a lot, trying to get it to sleep, and then then grandmother or friend says 'Let me try' and the baby stops crying.... ;)
@EvelineUK to be fair, this friend used shock collars which made it worse and I insisted that they not use them when I was there. She knew she was safe from the zap when I was there. It helped a lot
I house my friend's two dogs, once, a German shepherd and a wiener. The weiner dog was no trouble, shepherd gave me some pushback, until i walked him 2x/day on the hiking trail. Gave him a workout and calmed him down. My friend asked "whadja do to my dog?" "Walked him twice a day." Working dogs of any kind need exercise.
@TheTrwebster it's sad how many people don't understand what their dog needs. Just because something works with one dog doesn't mean it's good for another
Monica, you did a great job with your dog. Amazing how he completely changed his energy on the longline! It’s clear that you’ve done a lot of work with him.
I had to switch from a collar/slip lead to a harness after my dog recovered from a herniated disc. It forced me to become a better handler since I could no longer give her a correction when she started to react. She is now more engaged and relaxed on our walks. Like the dog in this video, I believe it’s because the source of the pressure was removed. Thank you for everything you do!❤ I get so many compliments about how good my dog is and I would have never been able to do it without your content 🙌🏻
Thank you for telling your situation. That’s interesting that’s great to know you don’t need to use the correction . Just wondering how old your dog was when changing and what breed ? I have a 4 year old lab that is finally doing very well but still has the jumping at me at the very beginning when I put the lead on her
So glad to see Will there with you, so much inter fighting and back stabning now w trainers. Its disheartening but yall renew the faith in dogs and owners getting the help they need. I bought Wills book when I got my puppy. Its been a great help.
Orlando's leash was like a live wire connected to him. He had so much connection at liberty and the relief his mom had just knowing what he was capable of.
Driving in Europe is no joke!!!!!!! I did it with my teenager 6 years ago and it was one of the hardest things I have experienced in a long time. But I learned to get out of a major city at 6 am on a Saturday or a Sunday. You will have the whole city virtually to yourself. I learned this is NYC when I had to get up early to move my car so it wouldn't get towed. I drove around for 2 hours stress free. I went to Brooklyn and even walked across the bridge. I love watching you with large, excited dogs because I happen to have one myself. I have been doing more with him on his long line and the lack of leash pressure has been so refreshing for him!
Love this! Currently working with a reactive Labrador retriever. He's made great progress with my husband and I but we're still working on him with others. Tom and Will's videos have been my go to watches while we work through his issues so it's awesome to see the 2 of them together!
Orlando!!!!❤❤❤ what an absolutely beautiful, smart, loving dog! I love how you were able to show his mom how her leash pressure was causing his behavior. Also, that drive to your hotel looked brutal!
2:51 OMG, this was my Giant Schnauzer mix 8 months ago! She was returned to the shelter before I got her 2 times because of her behavior and insane vertical of 6ft + His videos work. This man KNOWS dogs 🐾💙
Watching how the dog changed by just using the long line and removing all that tension. My doesn't act like Orlando but I've noticed a difference in how she heels and behaves on a short leash vs a long leash. My dog has a good heel (not focused heel, just generic) on the long line but with a short leash she tends to break her heel and constantly fall ahead or out of position. Watching this gave me something more to consider when walking my dog
great segment Tom. Had to laugh seeing you do "right hand drive". My first experience with it was in Australia, leaving the airport in Canberra and almost immediately forced to negotiate a traffic circle. I have a reactive GSD. Every time i get up and start to leave the house, he goes Bat Shit Crazy. He gets aggressive towards the younger, smaller female GSD. He runs the fence line and barks and growls absolutely crazy. he's been through basic obedience training. not sure what type of training to help remedy the situation. Thanks for all you do. I appreciate all the on line videos you share.
Love this video for all the funny and real parts. Also, never quite understood the choose to heal technique, but I now see that’s clearly a thing! My main takeaway though is that dog behaved exactly like my 15mo son, and it was both cracking me up and intensifying my anxiety lol. It’s like, I must be touching you at all times or else… PS that cabin was specifically Led Zeppelin IV 😜
If I’d known you were in England 🏴, Birmingham, I’d have put my Rhodesian Ridgeback in the car and driven up from Bristol. I would love to have shaken your hand and said thank you for all you’ve done ❤.
My aunts dog, Peppa, is a terrier black Labrador mix of some kind. She has a bit of a pray drive and tons of energy. When they lived in an area with lots of wild chickens and neighbors right next door. they had her on a leash every time they went out and she was soo bad walking. She pulled and became leash reactive with her sibling etc. then they moved to an area with 5 acres and this dog is a saint. She doenst need a leash she needs to run and be able to roam around while on walks. They let her out without a leash and she has an amazing recall despite having had no training off leash. She just needed more space to be her best self
Oh, I love this so much!! I would love to meet you and for us with my dog to be a part of your seminars, we've been following you for so long and your videos have been really helpful! Please, please do more seminars in Europe when it's possible for you, it will be VERY helpful to have the chance to meet you and learn from you!
Right from the beginning, I knew it was the leash - that she was too short and too tight with it so he was fighting it constantly. The difference was night and day when you took over with a short but loose leash, where he didn't feel like he was being choked and controlled.
I followed Wills Perfect puppy course. Was a bit late as lab pup was 5 months old. But was still able to implement a lot of the necessary skills like door manners and the break command. Still a bit reactive but have got the help of a local behaviourist and after one session seeing improvement already.
Just rescued our GS from an acrophobia home. Having some difficulties with people coming to our home. Have taken her on three public walks. With a vest stating in training. People still come up and she aggressively responds. I know I am at fault not being loud in my words stating do not come near her. People r making it more difficult. She is now one. Smart, gentle and gorgeous. Would love some advice.
1. "I've worked my Badinski off"??? That's what CC gives in sybtitles. But I guess it was supposed to be "bad instinct". Howecer, as a Pole with -ski ending name, I laughed. 2. You and "Southend Dog" guy are my 2 out of 4 adresses to get advice while working on my rective german sheppard. Regards and please, consider making or joining a seminar in Poland or Czech Republic.
Awwww ❤ I’m glad you had a good time abroad. Tom, you’re one of my favorite YT dog trainers. You are out there doing good things for people and their dogs.
What a beautiful dog. Is he a bouvier? He kind of looks like one. Love how you and Will are such good friends. I have no idea on the timeline of this, did you get to meet his new puppy?
The harness comes and stays off, or I leave the house and never come back. I make that clear on my website and mention it again during the booking process. I simply refuse to work with that kind of people.
Hi Tom, wonderful work. But why, oh why this incredibly stupid title?? sorry, can't get my head around this. Why would you need to "humble" the dog? it's not what you're doing!
Leave a comment to support ❤
I love meeting all these dogs and their handlers 💖
yeah so Tom, I'm gonna need you to just come over. I'm sure the crew will understand if I borrow ya lol
looks like a Briard.

This video is beautiful. These two are beautiful.
Great to see you hanging out with Will Atherton, another great dog trainer!
Wow that dog. She has done a great job and now the dog gets to shine.
Can't believe you were in our tiny country helping out these nice people and lovely dogs. Thanks Tom and team!!

The irony is the stress is returned 10 fold.

Amazing work, you have helped so many people understand how best to be a partner with their dogs. What you do and how you connect is superior.
These training sessions are my favourite! I always learn something!
Orlando!!!!❤❤❤ what an absolutely beautiful, smart, loving dog!
I love how you were able to show his mom how her leash pressure was causing his behavior.
Also, that drive to your hotel looked brutal!
I'm so happy to have access to this kind of information! It really helps with my confidence in getting a dog and properly training them!
I love watching your videos and how helpful you are to both dog and owner!
Thanks for your gift you give to the world Tom. Inspiring
2:51 OMG, this was my Giant Schnauzer mix 8 months ago! She was returned to the shelter before I got her 2 times because of her behavior and insane vertical of 6ft + His videos work. This man KNOWS dogs 🐾💙
Great video, as always. But seriously, your son talking in his cameo shot was THE BEST!💕
Watching how the dog changed by just using the long line and removing all that tension.

My two favourite dog trainers…Tom and Will 😊
I hope one day I can be half as good as a handler as Tom, he always seems to figure out just what the dog needs.
Wonderful video. You have a great videographer ❤️
To watch a master at work…priceless

You’re inspiring, Tom.❤️😭. The way the long line worked with Orlando was amazing
Also, could there be a TedTalk in your future ?😅

wow, glad to see your channel has grown exponentially since i first subbed back in the day when it was called upstate canine academy

Tom, Will and Ben Marsh in the same scene. Would be an amazing training Trio, I love Ben's stuff never see enough of him!
Goedzo, Tom!👏🐾🐾

FRED!!! I love when he pops up in a video lol

Tom, you need to come to Ontario, Canada!
I second that
I am currently having this same issue with my golden.
Aahh thats my street in Amsterdam 😂😁
Love it there!
And your driving skills in UK were excited 😂😂😂
Fred ended up being a good sport lol
The use of a long line and letting the dog walk by the owner but the trainer has the leash showed tension on line with owner
what a great trip hey!

I like puppy very much.
Tom, u re the best❤. Orlando and Monica was great example to study, to show, to work, to see : it's never the dog. Great job 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Geez u travel light 😂😂😂
And no, I don’t think you were posing 😆
dog owner stress is transferred on the dog, and thus making the dog stresses out. once you took off the leash, the dog becomes completely different.
That dog breed is called a 'Briard' and it is a herding dog. And next time you visit Will; bring him a husky to train, i hear he loves doing that!
Ah, I had thought it was a Bouvier des Flandres!
I wondered if Orlando was a Romanian meoritic shepherd similar to the Briard
Awwww ❤ I’m glad you had a good time abroad. Tom, you’re one of my favorite YT dog trainers. You are out there doing good things for people and their dogs.
❤❤❤❤
I'm wondering... what you would do if the dog didn't respond to eating or playing for training. I have one like that....
What kind of leash is the trainer using? Is it like a choking leash/collar? Good video. Thanks.
What does a day of a board and train look like?
Where can we watch the full seminar displayed at the end of the video with Will?
I’m not sure that will be on wills website I believe
Will! Is that Sully?
Sully!!!!
What a beautiful dog. Is he a bouvier? He kind of looks like one. Love how you and Will are such good friends. I have no idea on the timeline of this, did you get to meet his new puppy?
Definitely a Briard!
I thought he was a Bouvier as well, until I saw these Briard comments. 😊
Wonder how many of those people understood what Tom was saying.
The harness comes and stays off, or I leave the house and never come back. I make that clear on my website and mention it again during the booking process.
I simply refuse to work with that kind of people.
I dated a columbian that told me that Americans are stiff and look like robots😅🤣
Would be nice to have the breed and age to put things in perspective. Looks like a very "big puppy" berger briard.
Is he a Briard?
High energy dog low energy people is always a huge problem.
💚🌱🫶🏾
I think he needs a face trim so he can see better , l just bet it would help !
nobody should call themselves a dog trainer if they dont allow a dog into training because of reactivity...
Hi Tom, wonderful work. But why, oh why this incredibly stupid title?? sorry, can't get my head around this. Why would you need to "humble" the dog? it's not what you're doing!
Weak beaver 83
Dog training for humans. lol
Literally everyone writes this same thing and they all think they're the first to think of it 😂
@@Pugggle ...do you reply to all of them? 😂
I hope Tom suggested Monica have Orlando groomed and then brush him every other day.
Love Toms work but that's a stupid name for a video.
❤❤❤❤
