I agree, Freightliner makes a very good product, strong fuel economy and impressive dealer network. Myself, preference is VNL 780 or KW T680. It’s all just personal preference. Thanks for your genuine review !!

Full disclosure: Freightliner sales rep here.
The ladder is rated for 400 lbs. I’m 270 and have used it with no concerns.
You can get other inverters with different location options (behind the seat for example) from the factory (data code: 337-).
And you can get up to (5) 12 volt outlets in the bunk area (data code: 284-).
This would be in addition to dash power outlets. Up to (3) outlets in the dash (data code: 785-).
The fridge from the factory is 2.3 cubic feet, which is marine grade, light weight, and had very low amp draw 275 Watts/24hrs.
You can get a prep for a fridge from the factory, with air flow a d straps. It can accommodate a fridge up to 3.3 cubic feet. (Data codes: 719-)
They offer a premium sound system from the factory with a subwoofer (data code: 750-042)
You can get memory foam from the factory (data code: 740-).
You last video you mentioned you didn’t like the mounting of the CB. You can put it on top of the dash (data code: 748-)
Get with Ronin and your local Freightliner sales rep and give him these data codes when you go to spec your next trucks. Remember options can change the price but you can go through all that with a spec review.
From the specs, it looks like you’ve got a great FTL dealer there.
Great job on the videos. I really enjoy them. Keep it up!

Great reply. You mentioned 12V outlets as an option. Trucking from 1970's is kinda, you know, gone. What about 5, 110ac outlets?
Lots of drivers hook up massive tv's, video game consoles, computers, etc...

You're soooo correct about the under the bed access. Lifting the bed to get at it sucks. Put 2 swing doors there so you can slide a bin in and out of it. Or make it a big drawer.

Very interesting video. The difference, obviously, between Euro trucks & American vehicles is astounding. A video on my particular truck would take all of 3 minutes!!!
I think freightliner owe you at least 0.75 % of any future sales for this favourable review. 👍👍

On this Freightliner we usually stored our food in the jockey box in the winter. It kept really well. I think Freightliner should have installed a fridge on rails under the bed where you can just slide it out from under the bunk when you need to with a simple latch under the bed and access your long-term food storage. I know Dometic makes rack-mounted fridges for semi-trucks. It's just a matter of fabricating the space under the bunk.

Hey Brian. Just update ladder for upper do holds well as being 6.2 and around 190 lbs i had used it few times and it do holds.
About electric plugs, they do come with free 110 plugs it might be case you need to ask it. I drive cascadia 2017 it has one in cabinet behind microwave which has 2 plugs and then one under bed where you showed 12volt plug.

That's really nice truck and I have been working on Freightliner 2018 before but the cabin was lower than this and for me it pretty cool to get more convenient for work. Also you are right about the matras 😀 it's really true. Thanks for video .

I've been in all daycabs before this and to me it is fine because I can't compare to the other trucks like you say. My apu is all run off the diesel engine on side of the truck. It works fine but I can't compare it to the battery unit you have again. Thanks for the nice info all you guys there !!!!!

Nice sound this time !!! Never mind the crumbs roflmao
I'm 265 and never used to top bunk; always worried about it caving.
If I owned that truck I would definitely take the time to put outlets where I want them; nice part of owning the truck.
So there are no a/c vent in the bunk; that is messed up.
Looks like you are happy overall and I'm thinking you will end up liking this truck.
Yes this video should be shown to Freightliner for the feedback and ideas.
Awesome job making this video; look forward to more of them.

I'm not a truck driver, but looking at these pros and cons, my #1 items I would prioritize is: first, premium audio. If I am spending a lot of time doing something, be it driving, in an office, work or at home, I make sure to have good audio. Music is what keeps me going. Second, power outlets. You are so correct! These days, we have a TV, microwave, usually a computer, gaming systems, and our smart phones. We need the power!
The other item, mattress. Good rest is important! I can work with everything else.

thanks for the review. I currently drive a 2019 860 . that truck can't compete with mine. the fridge is superior and so is storage. I have the table set up and have great storage under it plus a 110 outlet. my stereo is an 8 speaker + sub amplified system it's fantastic. the mattress is a 42in wide mattress and I like that volvo solved the problem at the bottom space at the end by putting a netted storage there. my company wants to give me a new cascadia in a week but I think I'll be keeping this after seeing your review

I run team driver to California
So sometimes we use both the beds upper and lower
This truck has only 2 air vents both on driver side for lower bunk
It does not have any vent on passenger side in bunk and oh my god on hot day upper bed is a roster no a single vent for upper bed

Regarding the ladder, I weight 240, and have used mine several times with no problems. As to the curtain issue. From the factory they come with plastic stoppers at the end of the rail. They do fall off, but you can get plastic nuts from any auto parts store, put them in the end of the rail, and tighten a screw in. No more problems. The lack of AC power outlets is how the truck was spec’d. Ours come with an outlet next to the DC outlets below the bunk, and one in the microwave cabinet. I would complain to the other guy about that.

Would rather have had the above storage rather then the upper bunk. Small sleeper in the first place since we have Hiab Knuckle boom cranes on the back of the trucks.

You can order a sub from FL Which is installed under the bunk in the spot you spoke about. Subs are not available with the dinette table.

I have heard the ladder, when folded up, sometimes poses a "danger" of taller people sometimes hitting their heads on them. Any experience on that? It seemed to me, watching this video, it is plenty high when you are sitting on the bunk, but what about when you stand up?
One thing I do know about the Cascadia, is that they do have good options for refrigerators, especially if you want a bigger after market refrigerator. Depends on how it is equipped.

For solo drivers the storage is good enough but not for teams. The refrigerator is too small for even solo drivers looking to bring and cook their own food. As you said, the freezer is way to small. There is a good 16-20" above the refrigerator that could be used for a bigger one but I suspect a bigger one would consume too much power. Be nice if they could figure a way to increase the size though as more and more companies are increasing their share of team drivers.

I drive a 2023 Freightliner. Too many buttons for too many lights in the bunk is confusing. I still frequently push the wrong one when i need proper light. I turn on all three buttons to have good light. The light design is gagbage. The table is too small and too low. I can't get my legs underneath it in order to sit and eat properly. It pops in to easy so your food can fall off if one does not take proper care. The cabinets are the cheapest plastic and if one does not slam hard enough in the center, they won't latch properly due to easy misalignment. Kenworth Quality is way better as is the big table which swings 90 degrees. I agree that the size of the fridge is too small and bad designed. It is on the wrong side, too low on the floor and too close to the mattress so hard to open. Kenworth fridge works like a drawer. The Freightliner fridge door needs to be adjusted as it opens by itself when food is inside and pushes against it from inside driving in a curve. I have an inverter underneath the bunk from where i run a cable direct to my microwave. I have seen sockets build behind the microwave. So agree running a cable is a pain in the butt. Kenworth overall is better designed and better quality. The different bunk width between both trucks is not really so much and irrelevant. I am 6.5 tall and can sleep good in both beds. All the mattresses whch come with the trucks no matter the brand are garbage. My boss purchased a customized one for me right at the beginning when I started to work for them almost 9 years ago. It goes with me in dvery new truck every 3 years. Never had any issues with the espar bunk heater draining the batteries except once in a while I have to start it 2 or 3 times in order to get it going. It heats according to the outside temperature (sensor). What is a real pain in the butt with the Cascadia is that it slows down by itself coming up on the top of a hill despite being on cruise control. But the electronic is setup that way. Makes absolutely no sense. The main power switch button beside the driver seat is a good idea. This way I am not forced to pull all my charging plugs out to avoid draining batteries. It does not cut the power of the microwave though. Have to lift the bed in order to switch off the inverter for this. That is I agree not we thought thru. I actually have curtain stoppers mounted in the bunk curtain rail. But I never close these anyway as it gives u more room to close the window curtains. The heat still stays strong. On the left side window curtain rail the stopper above the seat in the corner came loose once and it was a little bit a hazzle to get it back in. That , too was better designed in the Kenworth as was the ball twist system which holds the curtains in place. The Freightliner has velcro straps and each time they stick to the curtain itself when closing them in the morning so it's a little bit of search for those straps every time . Same applies to the curtain itself where the velcro is what keeps the curtain together while closed. The Kenworth had stitched in magnets. Was way better.
