This sounds like it would fit perfectly in a Professor Layton game

      thank you!
it's something i would like to do eventually, but it might not be for a bit. once i've become a little more confident in my own process, i'll try recording one of my sessions and/or making a video that explains my process.
if you have any suggestions for what you'd like to see, i'd be happy to hear!

@@daireks Either a step by step process or a tricks & tips would be perfect.
Also, I’m curious to know how you learned your craft.
Did you take any courses, follow specific tutorials, or is it mostly self-taught through practice?

@@SamuelC555 sure, i'll keep that in mind for when i get to it!
most of my learning was through self-taught practice. i started by listening to the songs of my favorite creators in order to try and get an idea of how they approach melody/chords. i found AZALI's videos to be especially helpful because his fl studio format let's you see the different shapes of the chords and melodies.
from there, i tried to create my own >1 min songs, starting with a chord progression, making a melody motif i like over it, and then listening to the two, trying to hear in my head how i could expand on them. with each attempt, my ear for what works/doesn't work as well as for expanding existing progressions/motifs got a little better!
      and, here's a video that i found helpful: th-cam.com/video/FLDJyjMZLp0/w-d-xo.html
he composes melody and harmony at the same time here, but usually i do them separately.

Loving it! I do also use FL Studio for the final mixing of my tracks. It's useful.

oh really! do you use another program during the composition phase of your process? i've always just done everything in FL haha
      thanks btw!

@@daireks Very often I also use FL only. Sometimes I record something with real instruments and other times (very rarely) I use Ableton.
But FL is true love, you know. I'm getting more and more on doing 100% there!
