Wonderfull video on a wonderfull class of ships!! Prometheus was not a perfect ship, but was an excelent test bed for the advancements that will gave birth of the Deadalus class. I would take command of one without hesitation!!
Agreed! Hey you have to begin somewhere. I like these ships as they seem very plausible designs if humans did gain access to alien technology and reverse engineered it.
The BC 304 is my all-time favorite scifi ship. With the F 302s fighters And I believe if you took a fleet of these, they could turn the tide of war in many other scifi universes. Star wars, Halo, Mass effect, and startrek, to name a few.
I think the most amazing feature of the ship was the ability of the bridge structure to traverse from the top port to the top starboard while in flight.

Personally I think the best plan of initial fleet composition would be a small core of 304s for rapid response with a large fleet of 303s that have several variations to provide overall flexibility.
These ships remind me of the ancient Promelian Battle Cruiser as depicted in Star Trek TNG. Love to see a video on that ship! Also, how come we never see a Daedalus class ship manned by US Navy personnel?
The Daedalus class was a logical advance given that the Earth needed a new flagship capable of both defending Earth and itself. The Prometheus was neat, but the Daedalus brought the concept to fruition. I just wish we'd seen some smaller escort ships for a proper space fleet. The 302s aren't adequate as proper escort craft. I wish we'd seen something like a smaller/streamlined Daedalus, maybe even a toned down Prometheus. Keep the escort ships as FAST as the main ship, but have them more akin to a gunboat to pair with the Ships of the line. I'm imagining fleet groups akin to BSG or the US Navy Carrier strike groups. The central ship would be a BC-304 with multiple craft in support roles. Maybe even a dedicated carrier vessel for 302s alongside the 304s. I would like to command the odyssey, solely because I could have her cloaked and use a wing of Lantean jumpers, borrowed from Atlantis or other Ancient remnant bases, as the attack wing. Something akin to the Klingon BoP, but bigger and better armored/armed.
Remember the video where they proved the length of the bc 304 by using the f 303 as scale of measurement with the given clips showing the hangar bay and f 303 flying through the doors.... and it made fully sense
Stargate's best ship is the O'neill Class. It has everything a 304 has but just much better. The exception being the plasma beam weapons but since the Asgard just invented the tech, were they to still exist, it would have it now.
There is no way it's almost 700m long, that just doesn't stack up with any imagery we've seen. The lower estimate is far more convincing. To put that in perspective it makes it longer than a Galaxy class from Star Trek and almost as wide. It's a good looking ship, one of my favourites in fact, but there is no chance its that big. For a frame of reference look at any of TNG's hangar bay scenes to give you a comparison to human size and you can see how big the hangar bay doors are compared to the rest of the ship. Not a chance the Daedalus is that big.
650m long would put it on the same scale as the Enterprise D, a ship that holds a crew compliment approximately five times larger than that of the Daedalus. While I would agree that the ship is large, I don't agree that the two are about the same size. That said, you did a good job on the video, but you did get a couple things mixed up: When pronouncing Tsun Zhu, the T is silent (ie: Spoken like "Sun Zoo"). Also: The Tsun Zhu was not adrift in the Sol system, but in the expanse between our galaxy and Pegasus. Col Ellis states as much in his transmission to Stargate Command, when he reports in their failed attempt to stop the Wraith super hive in Atlantis' final episode. To answer your question, I don't think the Oddessy gets enough love! It's a proven vessel that has gotten the kinks worked out, and is more than capable to do the job assigned to it!
I think for a time in future there will be more x 303 but for defance and the x 304 will be the attack fleet ship and there will be a need for a heavy ship more guns and more space for fighters and troops

You forgot the other thing that really caused the size debate. Trekyards took the official BC-304 model and compared it directly with the official 3d model of the Sovereign class Enterprise E. The two models were nearly identical in size. As such the Daedalus class is in the same scale as the Galaxy class from Trek. That said many complained that the crew complement was too small for such a large ship. This is explained many times in the series that the life support systems aren't anywhere near as advanced as they are on other ships. So despite the fact the BC-304 is advanced in its own right. Earth has a long way to go in order to take full advantage of all the Asgard and Ancient knowledge at its disposal. This is why in future series without woke BS. They should continue on the line of the US of today. Where instead of having a new super bad guy. You are now stuck with several potential enemies whose fleet numbers greatly overmatch yours. Then we have the exploration route as well since the Milkyway is vast, so a show dedicated to the Odyssey or even a new class of ship under the command of Colonel Marks would a good series as it focuses on exploration but with a truly dedicated warship built to take a pounding and give it back with interest. It would be interesting to see how new cultures react to the Tau'ri. Then we have the Hebridans. I'd love to see their reaction to a BC-304 since the vessel's engine specs came from them. Since the 304 had Asgard tech, I think that model should have been called the Prometheus.

The BC-304 seems to fill the place of a small or pocket Battlestar class vessel, somekind of "crude" Valkyrie class Battlestar.
