The attention to detail in Cobra Kai is very impressive. The big three, Josh, Jon, and Hayden are masters in balancing nostalgia with new storytelling. Hollywood should take notes from them.
Throughout "How I met your Mother" Barney Stinson repeatedly expressed his support for Johnny Lawrence saying Johnny Lawrence was the real Karate kid...
Yknow I might sound crazy here but I think one of the main factors in Cobra Kai getting started was the bachelor party episode in HIMYM s8. William Zabka and Ralph Maccio would have become good friends again after the Bro Mitzvah episode in s8 of HIMYM. That might have led to them deciding to make a show based on what happens after the first 4 movies. (Idk, I might be looking too much into this)
Episode 1 the breakdown vehicle picking up Johnny's car has "Pat's" written on the door, a nod to Pat Morita who played Mr Miyagi in the original films.

you missed a really big easter egg/reference: When Johnny gives Miguel the first lesson, he says the exact same words that Kreese says to the Class when Johnny is looking to Daniel. We do not train to be merciful here. Mercy is for the weak. Here, in the streets, in competition: A man confronts you, he is the enemy. An enemy deserves no mercy. What is the problem Mr Lawrence/Diaz Also: Daniel and Miguel both were a LA Football jersey
There is another Easter egg. In Cobra Kai, Daniel visits a tomb. It is the tombstone of a mr. Miyagi. Only the truest of true fans will know that this is an actual reference to the original trilogy where Mr. Miyagi is Daniel's mentor.
KK, Kreese: "Here, in the streets, in competition, a man confronts you, he is the enemy, an enemy deserves no mercy what is the problem Mr. Lawrence!?" CK s1 e2, Johnny: "Here, in the street, in competition, a man confronts you, he is the enemy, an enemy deserves no mercy what is the problem Mr. Diaz!?"
In the scene where Johnny is using his laptop, he looks at a movie called "Iron Eagle." This is a movie from 1986 staring Rob Garrison, the actor who played Tommy in The Karate Kid.
My favorite Easter egg is that in the last episode, you see Sam reading a book in class, and that book is actually a copy of "The Outsiders" by S.C. Hinton, which Ralph Macchio starred in as Johnny Cade.
in season 1 episode 2, johnny makes the same speech as kreese of "we do not train to be merciful here. mercy is for the week" blah blah. also just like in karate kid in that scene kreese asks "what is the problem mr. Lawrence" after the mercy speech. in cobra lai johnny goes "what is the problem mr. diaz" after the same speech
They didn’t mention that scene where Tommy is put in a body bag, and he was the one who yelled out get him a body bag. Probably out of respect for the actor passing away.
Also, in S1E4 after Kyler throws Demetri's bag in the garbage, his friend says "I think he's gonna cry", same way Tommy says this to Dutch after he teases Daniel in the locker room before the tournament begins.
You missed when in Season 2 Episode 8 they said: Carmen:Should we get another round Amanda:Yes Johnny:I don't know. Last time U went 4 rounds with Larusso I caught a foot to my face. Referring to the historic kick in the original Karate Kid
An Easter egg I found was in Season 2 Episode 10. For a split second, we see Sam hold up a book. The cover looks very accurate to the book, “The Outsiders” by S.E. Hinton. In the movie for “The Outsiders,” Ralph Macchio, aka Daniel LaRusso, plays Johnny Cade. Not sure if that was an Easter egg, but I thought that was kinda cool
There’s a callback to KK3 when Johnny tries to get Cobra Kai into the tournament in season 1, with mention made of Terry Silver’s unethical actions having gotten Cobra Kai banned for life from said tournament.
