      It’s the government corruption.
Economy of VN is just the appearance! The nation debt! The corruption ruins VN.

The one thing that I appreciate about the Cuban government, is that they would never allow a Haiti.
It’s a double edged sword though.
My friend’s niece from Cuba was kidnapped and held for ransom last week.
I’ve been telling the women, especially don’t risk it.
I keep trying to tell them that the US will never invade to takeover Cuba.
They desperately want that and don’t believe me.
We have way too many pro communist /antiWest Americans now.
Everything done abroad is seen as imperialism.
If that’s what they have to tell themselves to keep hope, then I guess.
      Just a sad situation.
      Castro tricked Cubans.
The Revolution was supposed to be like the Founding Fathers here. They called themselves Freedom Fighters because they thought they were fighting for freedom, but if they had to choose, they would choose the Batiste government.
They said Cuba , at least was prosperous and they had opportunity and choice.
It may have been heavy handed and was not perfect for everyone, but now Cuba is only good for party members and tourists.
Seeing the hospitals that Cubans have to go, compared to the hospitals that tourists go is mind boggling.

Both, Cuban- American politicians and Cuban politicians want everything to remain the same. How do you think they make their money? The ones in the States receive 20 millions yearly preaching for democracy in Cuba and the ones in Cuba have offshore investments. It's the average Joe that suffers. USA benefits, because they use Cuba to get votes, and most cubans come with degrees hence USA saves tons of money in education. We come, we get legalized, work, and pay taxes. Very few rip the system and very few are lowlifes. But this time there's not much to offer the average Joe in Cuba. Tourism is dead [one of the main sources of income]. Our government, and capitalist greed caused some or much of their problems, so why shouldn't they feel a right to immigrate here? We don't have 90% inflation, widespread hunger (we actually have an obesity problem due to so many plentiful calories), and constantly failing infrastructure (although we may get there someday if we keep neglecting maintenance and privatizing everything). If you're ever wondering how crappy countries are compared to one another check asylum rates leaving the two countries and entering those two countries. Those relative rates demonstrate where people actually want to leave and where they feel relatively safe fleeing to.

Last yr the government could've ensured proper nutrition for all the population with 10% of what they spent in hotels that remain empty. But they didn't, they have their own agenda and priorities, and we the people are not it. Right now the avg Cuban literally has worse nutrition than slaves did back in the 1800s.
