Eric, your son is getting bigger and stronger! Kudos to you Pop for doing these things that enrich both your lives. It's great to see you guys out exploring, because unfortunately, the modern youth and adult alike completely misses out on such things...😑

I'm lucky... he enjoys the adventure and is always ready for the next one! He's been camping beside me since he was 4...13 now so we're gaining on 19 years of mountain experience under his belt... Glad he wants to get out there... I'm lucky!

I really like the concept of synergy between Halifax and Spitfire, and I'll admit that Direct Action does make some nice gear but at the same time you sometimes still wonder 'what were they thinking?'.
The Spitfire being able to attach to the Halifax is pretty dope. The pack itself seems versatile for it's size and being Crye spec in term of zippers is great. But it costs more than the Halifax itself which is total bonkers.
The Halifax is a half decent project. The minimal padding on back and shoulders is great if you have to use it in conjuction with other MIL/LE kit. But it severely lacks any form of scalability. You get a 40L pack, that's it. There is only 3 rows of MOLLE on the side and most cargo pouches need 4 or more. There is no MOLLE on top or bottom either. The front does have 4 rows of MOLLE but it is actually wide enough for 6 rows. The silly thing is that if you mount it, then the Spitfire pack actually has 6 rows of MOLLE on it's front. So why not on the Halifax as well? And then quick-release buckles on the Halifax are HUGE and very squeaky. Not to mention the webbing which is so slick that the buckles can adjust themselves.
The Halifax being about 250$ is far from as light as other 40L backpacks or as versatile. You can always install some other buckles and use some regulators on the webbing. Just copy what 5.11 did on their Rush 12/24/72 line. But only having 3 rows of MOLLE on the side as well as being very shallow in term of storage depth is where I find Halifax's biggest shortfall.
I honestly gave up on making my Halifax work properly and invested in a TT Modular pack 45+ instead

I have this bag when I pack it out the buckles creek i also talk to others with the same issue. I can not recommend it unless it's only for hiking or search and rescue.

How is this bag comfortable for heavy weight (I mean how the belt allocate the weight from your shoulders to your hips)?

Doesn't it come with the belt padding and the back padding?
