One of my biggest regrets in life was "upgrading "to modern tackle. In One week I got rid of my old Daiwa rod and Leeda Rimfly reel and two Brady tackle bags to upgrade. There was nothing wrong with my old rod.It was heavier than todays rods for sure but still not heavy. You live and learn(the hard way)
Great video for the beginner, I got back into fly fishing a few years ago and didn’t really know much about rods reels etc. I never spent much money on fishing equipment growing up. I’ve been using a greys gr20 5wt at £80 And maxcatch 3wt at £50, I’m on the river everyweek and found my love for fly fishing again the way I did 20 years ago. It’s only now I’m realising u pay for what u get, I’m buying a new rod in the next few weeks looking like the greys Gr80 streamflex I’m hearing so much great things about it, I know it’ll not catch me more fish but it’ll be something I’ll appreciate
Fantastic video thank very much all I need now is to find a river with trout in it have been locally to a small stream river but had no luck could you do a video on finding trout thanks again Ryan
Great video for beginners! Have a passion for learning to fish wets, spiders, soft hackles. Even tied up some of your Dark Greenwell's. I would be interested in your leader formula for them. Especially your formula for fishing a cast of flies! Thanks, Anthony
As discussed in the video the vast majority of modern rods are of a high standard,I wouldn't recommend a particular manufacturer, but if you spend somewhere in the region of €150-250 it would be hard to go wrong.

That's a fact.
I have bought 40 years ago a rod from "Plateau Nive de Baïgory", 7' 6", for a silk n° 4 . I like to fish with this rod in small rivers.
Excellent.

Hi George I'm just wondering what brand are your waders and would recommend them
I'm currently using Simms G3,so far so good, they have better performance than others I have used to date, they all eventually leak anyway.
George where can I buy flys and fly tying material here in Ireland.
You can get flies from yours truly..
@@springerspanielful . Ok George have you a web site that sells them or just email you with what I want.
@@patrickhannon8372 If you can email that would be great, thanks.
