Not the whole truth bro. Nowaydays basketball in Indonesia is getting more and more popular in the big cities (Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung, Semarang) and other urban areas of Indonesia. Hopefully basketball will constantly maintain its high level achievement in SEA or even higher into Asia’s level. Just like volley ball and futsal. Eventhough it will still too far to catch up our world class badminton players.

2-3 weeks of practice is just unacceptable. Matthew Wright is a replacement who had COVID 1 week before the tournament. Thirdy had 1 week of practice and Kiefer only had a few days. Brought 6 random players because of Philippine basketball internal politics. Changed the coached who beat South Korea twice with college players and almost beat Serbia. We're not taking this competition seriously enough and we got exposed. Philippines averaged the 2nd fewest attempted threes (dribble drive system sucks) in this tournament and the worst or second worst 3pt shooting percentage. Indos played the game of their lives. Perfect recipe for an upset. Contrats Indonesia! You deserve it!
It's not that they're not taking it seriously. It was coach tab baldwin himself who stepped down to focus more on the upcoming UAAP tournament and they put Chot Reyes as a replacement. Tab will probably be back soon to coach for the gilas upcoming games

To all Indonesians, congratz on the win, and please don't be offended too much with the bunch of kids who belittle your team, they don't know real basketball, and all they always do is watch and get overproud (when win) or whine a lot (when lose). Also don't believe in what they're saying it's just team b,c,d coz no it's not, they're not watching SEA games basketball, historically PH don't always send the strongest team in SEA games with the exception of 2019 becoz we were the host, if you ask why, it's just the way it is (politics and pro league schedule or players not wanting to join) are probably the main reasons. It's always the same scenario, the only difference is Indonesia fielded the best lineup they could gather, this team is a legit FIBA type of team at least by Asian standards. Again congratz to team Indonesia and goodluck to the upcoming Asia Cup.
